Hi all,well I have got myself really confused.I have Instant Scenery and only use it for FSX.At first I downloaded and installed RWY12 and all the other libraries I could find.However a lot do not show in FSX.I have downloaded Instant Scenery Thumbnails by Lance Tucker and Instant Scenery Thumbmails for FSX local libraries by John Grahn assuming they would all show in FSX.HOWEVER where do I get all the textures from IF indeed they are needed.Would someone be kind enough to explain what I need to do to have as many objects as possible showing and working in FSX.RegardsRichard

I own the Aerosoft EGLL for FSX and my ai does not work any more. THEY ARE TRANSPERANT!!!! I had this same problem with George Grimshaws KBOS yet the planes at default FSX airports work fineCan anybody help me?????????????

Hi all,can someone help me with this small problem.I am making great strides with SBX mainly by trial and error but am getting there.Using SBX I have flattened and excluded autogen on the shore of a lake.Thats fine.Following the real world terrain I need to create a short channel which leads to a small inland body of water.And that is fine too, HOWEVER despite using a variety of polygons I keep getting a land barrier across the entrance to the channel. The barrier is the same colour as the rest of the shore line and is at water level.Help!!!RegardsRichard

I'm using FSX SDK SP2: I can create a bgl with season variations but when I try to add the blend mask I get the following error: Warning, incorrect count for field "DateTime" (19, expecting 20); tag ignored. The new bgl will have the seasons and night variations but no blend.The blend file is created with PaintShop, it is a greyscale TIFF 8/256 depth. The "DateTime" error has me stumped.Any suggestions?Thanks,

I just noticed something odd in FS2004. Lately, I've been creating small ground bases around my add-on buildings, and using aerial photos to give an accurate feel for the "grounds" around a building. I noticed that the automatic shadow generation in FS2004 does not seem to work on my custom grounds planes. This includes shadows from the building OR that cast by an aircraft (I use a helicopter/slew to do up-close checks). Shadows are cast from objects/aircraft onto the default underlaying FS2004 ground terrain.As a test, I created a "sundial" object which was basically just a tall cylinder towering above a wider base. Is there any way to create a large 3D scene where the objects will automatically adjust there locations in the z-direction to match the underlaying terrain mesh (in FS2004 - although I'm sure this is a common thing in FSX)? I'm talking about the use of smaller planes/polygon regions (as opposed to full Areas) to represent the ground/roads around a collection of 3D buildings, especially in areas of complex hilly terrain. The only method I've found that has worked is to manually create the 3D terrain by hand as a "shell" that fits down over the underlaying FS2004 terrain. I got excited about the "Flaten" option in MakeMDL but this didn't do anything for me (wrong type of …

I installed 9Dragons scenery.If I start at KDTW and move (world, go to airport) to VHHX = OKIf I then try to go to another airport (KJFK eg.) the sim will not load KDTW, instead I get an error box, util.dll problem.Same thing happens if I just exit from while at VHHX. FS9 shuts down and then I get the error about 1 minute after it shuts down.I tried the fixes others had posted but no luck.I thought you guys might be able to shed some light on things I might check to get an error free install of 9Dragons.

I have searched high and low for scenery files that would add the historical Tustin Blimp hangars back into FS9. These are almost identical to those still included in the default FS9 scenery for Moffet Field, Ca. All I can find for Tustin is a more extensive scenery set that also includes enhancements to John Wayne airport. I already have an excellent John Wayne airport add-in that I do not wish to overwrite. I did find a scenery add-in that specifically adds just the Tustin blimp hangars. (XCL BGL and BMP files) however it was created for FS2002.If that scenery will not work in FS9, is there a way someone here with experience could replicate the Moffet hangars at Tu…

Q-1Is there a suggested procedure to follow when creating a photo real scenery for a large area? I would assume that the area should be broken down into smaller areas. But how small?Q-2SBuilderX was crahing on large areas so having decided to work on smaller areas. Zoom level 15 was selected and the entire screen area was mapped. I have used several overlapping maps. The overlap is very minimal in SbuilderX and the image looks OK. Compiled the maps and placed them in my scenery folder.The end result is far from satisfactory. I created FSX scenery entitled "Daytona International Speedway" in the AVSIM library. When flying over the area, portions of the infield area texture within the racetrack disappear for an instant creating a flashing appearance. I tried changing the texture image from 8 bit to DXT 1 with Image Tool, but it didn't improve. Can anyone explain to me, a beginner, what is wrong?The infield is a polygon just below the level of the racetrack and just above the flattened terrain, with the texture applied, created with FSDS 3.5.Art

Hi all, after installing EHAM Schiphol V3 (px_afcad_v3.zip) from the AVSIM library, I find I can no longer capture the localiser on what is now 18C and on the new 18R, and maybe on other rwys, too. Capturing 18C, for example, entering from the right (loc on my left), I see the magenta indicator to the right when it should be to the left. But the loc captures anyway and turns me initially onto the selected course of 184, but then turns me left to seesaw a couple of degrees either side of 162. No sign of a glide slope. Feeling I might be looking at a backcourse, I tried the same runway from the opposite direction. The ILS brought me down perfectly, capturing the LOC and t…

Do I have to use scenery.cfg editing to exclude NDBs or is there a way to do it with bglcomp?I am updating an airport but need to delete several navaids that have been taken out of commission by the FAA (many more are going).Second question along the same lines, how do I exclude marker beacons associated with an approach?Thanks - almost forgot.. I'm using FSX w/SDK & latest updates. Also playing with AFX but I haven't played with this stuff in the past 10+ years.

I am using Instant Scenery and I want to add objects to an existing scenery.Megascenery Hawaii has phototextures as well as its own autogens like trees and houses.I am using Instant Scenery to add few objects. However after I exit and load back FSX, A section of Megascenery's autogen (trees and houses) have disappeard? How come? I am not understanding something here obviously. Could anyone help explain this to me and how I could avoid this?ThanksManny

I have designed a good (in my opinion) railroad track that I would like to release for scenery designers. There are straight, curved, and switch pieces. I just want to release it so that it can be used in a scenery design program (eg SbuilderX). I know I have to give it a GUI and do someting else, but I don't know how and the SDK tutorials offered no assistance as they refer to 3Ds Max which is not included in FSX Deluxe. any help as to how I would do this?

This may be the wrong forum, but it's the closest thing I could see...I am working on an airport, it has 2 runways. One nice and long and wide and lit. The other narrow and short. I also have AI traffic, and the 737's keep wanting to go to the short runway, where the *just* have enough pavement to get off the ground. The two runways are about 20* off from one another, so I'd think IRL the boeings would get sent to the larger rwy.

Hi,I've tried to identify the FSX ground textures that I want to modify, using the following method:1) slew the plane above the precise spot and make note of latitude and longitude2) open TMF viewer and load the needed landclass files (worldlc.bgl + the other active landclass files)3) position the TMF cursor at the recorded spot and read the value and name of the terrain4) By using Holger's conversion table (a must have) read the corresponding texture namebut I've got texture names that were obviously wrong.As Holger's table is surely correct, does anyone have an idea of where I'm mistaking?In the end I managed to spot the exact texture manually, by visual clues etc, but …
