Ive tried but nothing seems to work so far. Im using Afcad 2 to make my A/P changes but how do I make an Exclude area?

Hi,Every time something has changed in the scenery.cfg, FS2004 is rebuilding certain index file(s). Does anyone knows what the file names are?Reason for this question:When flying GA-VFR, I have different scenery installed/loaded then flying IFR. I want to create a few scenery.cfg and load them via a batch file.Nevertheless everytime when I'm changing the scenery.cfg file, FS2004 has to rebuild indexes. Hence I would like to include the index files as well in the batch file.

Hi all of you,I was thinking on it for a long time - doing something about the FS9 default scenery of PATK and the surroundings. There has been major changes to the airport, and these changes are not in the default, despite they were made before FS9 came out. The default roads are running wildly compared to the real world, and also there is no trace of Talkeetna Village in the default. The default airport buildings are few.So doing a lot of bush flying in Alaska, i was highly motivated to try to do something about it.To be able to get some help on getting the information about buildings and there placement and everything concerning a new scenery, i then decided to establ…

I downloaded and install Jan Martin's excellent Jetways & Terminals airport scenery packages. Everything was setup properly per install instructions. This is for FS2004 BTW.All works fine, except for one strange problem - the new Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport (VTBS) has no fuel according to the GPS500 display on default 747. See my attachment. No other addon airports has this problem. So far I've spent several hours troubleshooting and I've done the following in vain:-- AVGAS and JET fuels are enabled in AFCAD file, verified with Lee Swordy's AFCAD 2.21 editor- there are no AFCAD conflicts- decompiled the AFCAD BGL->XML, then recompiled using BGLComp- deleted the var…

I thought i'd post this here, since the Devs gather around this place...With the all excellent eastern planes around (Tupolews and Antonovs and whatnot) I sorely detect the lack of scenery to able to fly these beauties in their "natural habitat". While commercial products cover Europe, the Americas, Canada and Oceania in great detail I was only able to find but a few a few great airports or local enhancements but not a coherent landclass scenery for almost anything east of Poland and west of Alaska.Does anyone know of scenery design or designers working on that area?

Can someone help here? I can follow the HTML Annotation SDK Guide upto the point where I decide to put in some trees but I can't figureout how to get by the seemingly sticky GUID NULL statement for vegetation on the Control Bar.The Guide says "Set the appropriate GUID for a class or region of vegetation using the right-click menu."What menu? I have the Vegetation groupings and the Model Entries windows openbut after selecting some tree (any tree) , what then? How does one use the regionalization part of the vegetationgroupings? Who knows? You can click on a little blue ball that says Regionalization ofCool Conifer Forest but there is NOTHING in the Annotation Guide totell…

I am building some helicopter-oriented scenery, and I noticed that low-altitude hardened platforms hide aircraft shadow for some reason. If the platform is elevated to 100 feet, the shadow is displayed without any problems. The Platform object is a simple, GMAX built pad in FS9. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this bizzare bug?

I am working on a scenery that contains a lot of effects (lights), however, after some investigating, I determined that they cut off some more immediate effects near the aircraft, such as rotor wash when landing. Is there some kind of a cache value that I can increase to have all effects appear all the time? Thanks!

If you could shed some light. After re-installing a bunch of Scandinavian and European sceneries this past week-end, and installing some new, I have a very strange object that has 'popped up' at Seattle off RWY 34.Here are a couple screen shots:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/175176.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/175177.jpgNotice where this is located. I have done a search for any modified files, and replaced my texture folder with a back-up I had zipped up. I even replaced the Seattle .bgl with the original MSFS file.As I don't do any scenery design anymore, I don't know what tools may be available to see what object is being associated with this location, which…

ADE Has been in development for a while over at www.fsdeveloper.com. Until now it has been in the very early stages of development and still has some way to go before being ready for public release.ADE is based on the Scenery Design Engine and provides a 2D CAD type designer/editor for airport facilities. The easiest way to describe it is to say that it aspires to do for FSX what AFCAD2.2 does for FS9. AFCAD is an excellent program and a very hard act to follow :-) ADE reads and writes Bgl format with no requirement for intermediate Xml and links directly to FSX so that you can use the position of the aircraft to position things.if you would like to check it out then…

  17. Hey everyone,I've previously received some very competent assistance in this message board that helped me a great deal in implementing TileProxy, so I would like to try again:How would I retain Microsoft's vector water polys when I define my own photoscenery areas? Is it all about the priorities or layers in the scenery.cfg file? Or is the only way to do this by defining my own polygons as part of the TileProxy World folder? Is it possible to copy (or softlink) the Microsoft vectors into the TileProxy folder so I can avoid creating my own?How can I create water with a shine-through effect near the coastlines where photorealistic underwater ground is visible through the wa…

Hi,I've seen some great freeware products (for example, BlueSkyScenery) that use USGS 1.1 m/pixel source imagery, and they look very crisp and detailed in FS2004. How is this possible, since in FS2004 you can get no finer resolution than 4.75 m/pixel? Is it really possible to use 1.1 m/pixel imagery in FS2004 when creating photo scenery? What would you have to tweak in the .ini file when using resample.exe?thanks in advance for any help.-Jason

I have been playing around with FSArchitect now that it has been released as freeware. It looks to be quite a powerful program and I am not having the easiest time wrapping my head around it. I lost the object tree or whatever you want to call it. It's the highlighted portion in the screenshot that I am talking about. I can't figure out how to get it to show up again. The manual I downloaded doesn't have a list of key commands and I can't find anywhere in it where it talks about that window. Anybody know how I can bring it up again? http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/173580.jpg

I'm trying to created water and blend masks as seperate files based on BMP files generated by SbuilderX. I opened each BMP in Photoshop and created a wter mask in a sepeerate layer and filling in the water areas with black and leaving the rest alone.I then deleted the original photo layer leaving my water mask layer as the sole layer in the file (by flattening).I then changed the file into a 1bit bitmap and saved it as a Tiff file with LZW compression in the same Sbuilder "work" folder as the original BMP.I added "_W" to the end of the filename so that sbuilderX would include the water mask when creating the resample .inf file.I repeated the steps above for the blend mas…

Hi all,This is the first time i join this forum. hello all.Recently I've downloaded a new mesh of Hong Kong from flightsim.com (pvhk11.zip). Which looked really beautiful. This mesh actually inspired me to create a much more exciting scenery for Hong Kong Kai Tak VHHX. With the help of google map and using GMAX, now i am adding hundreds of real scale buildings into the Kowloon area to create a realistic look of the actual Kai Tak. My plan is to make thousands of these ugly boxes right underneath the IGS path and position them with the google map. I didnt plan to add textures at this stage, which is quite odd to go without textures. cos it's too much work to deal with the …

  25. Hi there,I was wondering in which kind of database format FSX manages its scenery library internally. I would be inclined to think that they use some very simple database solution - not sure if this would be SQL based or notMy idea is that I could hook into whatever database API they use and maybe make the scenery more dynamic. I'm kind of bored with the fact that every BGL has to be known and located before the flight starts. I want the world to be living, online, dynamic.
