Hi allI have seen (and in some cases, purchased) fantastic scenery for some of the world's busiest airports. A few examples are Heathrow, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York (JFK) to name a few. I have also seen plenty of others out there for major airports. But not a single one for Sydney, Australia (YSSY)!I live 2 hours drive from Sydney International Airport and I am there every weekend due to work commitments. My online flights usually commence from Sydney and I am always disappointed with the default scenery. Some, my self included, have seen ground textures become blurred during a flight using TileProxy. I have tried using SLEW mode and various slow speeds. Some texture continue to become blurred. My "guess" is that sometimes TP is missing the internal texture load request from FSX. So, FSX believes that the texture is loaded and it presents it in its proper resolution. However, TP never loaded it due to missing the request - thus blurred texture. There is no way to recover the texture since FSX believes it to be there and no new requests for it will be issued. You can force a texture reload by going to the scenery library and clicking OK. Takes a long time but cleans up and …

Hi everyone!I had a cute idea that I decided to try to "make it happen". I am going to implement a tile server for Flight Simulator X in the form of a proxy that mediates between Google Maps satellite imagery and FSX. FSX will use some predefined custom scenery that points to tiles on a mounted network drive. All tiles are assumed to have known filenames from which the coordinates can be derived. I will start out with a very limited, rectangular area first. Later I might try to cover larger areas, maybe even whole continents.The network drive serving out tiles is connected through the SMB protocol and is provided by a Linux or Mac. Looking at the sky today (solid layer of strato cumuli) I wondered if we couldn't create a mesh of the layer and slap a texture on it like we do with the ground but in the other direction... That would take care of the cpu intensive creation of volumetric clouds and would, finally, allow for an unbroken layer.

Hi allDecided to get my feet wet with some scenery design (airport and AP surroundings mainly). After much messing around I thought I'd stay around the stuff that uses xml. All sorts of wrestling been going on here trying to get scenegenx to run without errors but thats another story.Anyway my question is, is it better to have most stuff in one bgl or make a few bgl's. Does it for example affect performance or are there other issues? The flatten can just go in the scenery.cfg file. Another reason I ask is it seems better to me if you have exclude in one bgl then airport in another and finally object locations etc in another. This would also avoid overly complicated and la…

THANKS for such a remarkable project!With anything this groundbreaking, there's a hiccup or two. :) I'm running into a bug/config error that seems to stop the loading process in its tracks. I let the TP+sim combo run in a loading state for appx. 1 hour, but didn't get anywhere.Specs: Ath x2 3800+, 2GB RAM, Vista 32 Bit, nVidia 7900 (latest drvrs)Symptom: Sim loading stops at appx 32%, TileProxy window continually scrolls the following...tileproxy.sys: FileInternalInformation? I've installed an airport beacon using SceneGenX, however, it is not animated, and just puts a big black area in the area of the light cone, and doesn't spin....any ideas/help!?Thanks!!- Jason

I'm right now creating a landclass of Regina, Canada using FSX KML and I can get the grass textures to show ontop of the city textures. I tried adding an exclude tag to exclude the city textures within the polygon area of the grassy areas and I also tried a PolyHole tag but the grassy areas still won't show up. Is there a way I can add priority to the grassy textures over the city textures or if not what can I do to make the grassy textures show up over the city textures I added? I'm using FSX by the way.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a n00b when it comes to FS design. But I've tried the AI thing and it all seems a bit complex but I don't want to be flying into/out of empty airports, lol. So my question is: Is it possible to add static aircraft, preferably the ones I have on my list on FS2002 Create A Flight, to an existing airport and if so, how? I have AFCAD if that helps. Cheers.

Someone help please! I have read the SDK tutorials with FSX and it makes sense, but sheesh im just having all kinds of troubles. 1. It doesnt make sense to me that you can use the "object placement tool" to place scenery objects in flight simulator and are allowed to just "save scenery" or "save mission." Yet the file it spits out when you choose to "save scenery" is not even in the correct xml format for scenery! What gives?!So I opened the xml i saved through the object placement tool, formatted it correctly and converted to bgl, added to fs. It loaded it. I'm trying to create an island with FS-KML and Google Earth. Unfortuntely I can't seem to get my ocean back.I've created a polygon to exclude WaterPolys (this works)I've created a Polygon hole for my island and a polygon surrounding it for my new water.The result is a very large area of land (the size of one grid square), and my island sitting in a small area of water.I tried creating a much larger polygon for the water which will give me water within its extents but it then wipes out my island.Any ideas?

I was toying around with the idea of adding fuel trucks to an AFCAD file I'm working on for NAS North Island, CA. I've got the parking all setup for it, planes parking and moving like they should. But, when it comes to the fuel trucks, I'm a little stumped and wonder if anybody else has noticed this, and if there's a fix for this. I have 15 fuel trucks setup to run. I load the airport, the 15 trucks show up just fine, but only one comes out. I requested fuel, only to be told I was 13 in line for fuel, but there were 14 trucks sitting in the fuel area. Only one truck was servicing aircraft. Does the program only run one fuel truck per airport, or are the other trucks on st…

I tried to create photo terrain of an area which includes both sea and land (coastal area) in SBuilder. Some LODs include both these landclasses so I painted water in the photo terrain texture with alpha so that it is invisible in the simulator. The problem is that after I put the photo terrain bgl in place and start the sim, it crashes every time I approach the area in slew mode. I guess this is because the photo lies on both land and water. What should I do to get around this? Thanks in advance.

Hi Folks,I'm using Instant Scenery and find it's very good. I placed some objects from some files for Kelowna (BC) which are excellant.Somehow, I inadvertantly deleted them from my harddrive and can't locate them anywhere. One file is called something like Kelowna Buildings and the other Kelowna Vehicles.Please post a repy if you have any idea where I can find them.Thanks,

Okay, at every towered airport in the world, in FS, I have airport beacons that work. yet when I add beacons using EXZ Scenery, they are there, but they don't work. No light, no rotation -- nada. I also tried "EZ Scenery Airport Beacon Towers" from Avsim, and also the default beacon towers available in FS.Now I noticed the default beacon towers from FS itself are just the towers, and that the lights are seperate elements, NOT part of the tower. Okay -- no problem, but even when using those they do NOT animate.So my question is this: Is there ANY add-on beacons out there that actually animate and work at night? Hi,Is it possible to decompile a FSX BGL file containing vector data (cvxNNNN.bgl) and get an XML file as output? BglAnalyze X and Bgl2Xml seem to not be able to extract data from cvx files.I'm working with a scenery where I've recreated an island using FSX KML. OK, general question.For FS9, which would be the best BGL decompiler to use for a APnnnnnn.bgl file?I want to extract some data (for my own personal use) for airfield approach and waypoints.As you who have read my other post will realise, I have done this recently and used newBGLAnalyze but sudddenly I am aware of there are other bgl decompile programs available.Stuart

Hi,Just wondering if anyone might be able to email me a copy of the FsX Resample.exe with maybe an example .inf if readily available/not too large. I have the demo only so far but have an image for St.Barthelemy I would like to try resampling at a higher resolution. I cannot get a Tools menu on the main menu bar in FSX when I try to activate the Object Placement Tool; I've followed the help/tutorial threads and file from Luis, and tried a copy and paste splice from the dll.xml sample in the Missions SDK, tried several FSX start up conditions with default or addon sceneries - still no Tools menu.The SDK is installed in its default location of Microsoft Games Flight Simulator FSX etc in the C: partition on my first drive.
