Hey guys,I am learning to use G2K4 or Ground2K4 and have a couple of quesitons.I have learned the bulk of G2K4 from a tutorial by Birdman at; http://ukscenerydesign.co.uk/Downloads/Tut...ort&Flatten.htmBrilliant tutorial, but its only for the first ground poly. I wish to make a green field in the middle around my WWII airfield, then make a thick forest surrounding it (Autogen forest texture).I got it to function once, but then I think I messed up my layers.Also, I think I was way off on my main starting out texture I used, as my huge airfield is a tiny patch in the startup texture, (green grass bitmap). hi all,i have a problem while exporting scenery from 3dsMax8 (german).The export module tells me that i do not have set a GUID but I did!Downloaded the Tool from MS generated a GUID insert it under File->File Properties->Custom (Name: FriendlyName Value:; GUID) and deleted the {}.Even after checking twice and changing the GUID the exporter tells me that i have not insert a GUID.Could it be that the exporter module does not work with the german version of 3ds8 ?greez Bernd

Hi;I posted this on the main FS9 forum and have had no replies. Guess I should have started here.Being fairly new I know I'll prob get razzed for probably a basic question, but . . .I downloaded a blimp hanger that I was planning to add to an airport scenery I am making with EZ Scenery and Rwy12. However the blimp hanger isn't a .bgl (I believe that is what an object needs to be to be used by these programs). It is a .api. Is there any way to make this object work with what I have? Or is there a blimp hanger.bgl download available that I just haven't been able to find?Cheers;JMB

helloIs their utility for creating ILS approaches that ATC will recognized and follow? I use AFCAD to create a new ILS for a airport, but ATC only gave me visual approach procedure while flying IFR. I have tried creating an ILS approach using xml coding, but wonder if their is a utility that aids in this?Lee

HelloI am doing a small project involving updating a couple of default AFCADs in FS9. I noticed that in a couple of the AFCADs, the location identifiers (country, city, etc) are inaccurate or could be better described. I was wondering, if I changed these fields in my modded versions of AFCAD will it cause any problems (i.e. duplicate airports showing up in the airport selection menu) because they are different from the stock AFCAD's properties? The ICAO will not be changing, only the region/country identifier. Or does FS9 sort AFCADs based on ICAO only, and if it finds a 3rd party AFCAD with the same ICAO, all data from the original file is superceded?Ruahrc

HelpI would like to learn more precice control over crash areas.I would like to be able to create a ring through wich the plane could fly without crashing, yet hitting any outside part of the ring would cause a crash.This has been done in different objects in FSX (Daredevil Hoop - Certain Bridges...)But whenever I try to make such an object my plane always crashes in the thin air inside the hoop.How did MS Program these objects.Can anyone help.I am fluent in 3ds max and have all plugs and am becoming more familiar with the SDK everyday.My objects show up in fsx and I can make them landable and remove the crash detection, etc. also certain objects can be co crash while oth…

There seems to be an attempt in FSX to improve the way ground shadows behave. Although the results are a little mixed.For aircraft things are much the same, full shadows all the time.For native FSX models (such as objects placed with the object placement tool) the shadows are not as stark and, when the weather is overcast the shadows disappear.For Gmax object created with the new gamepack the results are the same as for the aircraft.So, an attempt to get things right but no cigar...The behavior for native FSX models is getting better, but the shadows should go from full to faint when the weather is overcast.The above applies for my system (Nvidia 7600GS) with Ground Scen…

Hello,there are some strange problems in context with excluding scenery-objects. As you see the first picture shows some marinas in front and on the right side. The marinas in front are disturbing my new harbor.Thats why I excluded them.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/166274.jpgBut in the same time some new marinas has to be set. Hey all,I am having an issue with .mdl exports in gmax for FsX. I am getting a dialog box with a lot of stuff but am seeing no substance. When I have create scenery from GMAX and place it into FSX, and using the object placement tool to place the scenery it is listed as a hex number rather than the friendly name given by GMAX.How can I get it to display the friendly name? :-zhelp PLEASE !!!

Hi Thaks to this site and Arno I now have a custom 3d object in FSX.In my test object I created a box and used a boolean cutout with a pole.The result was a box with a hole though it.I then applied my texture and voila, a brick wall with a hole in it.Now I guess fsx won't allow me to fly through the hole without crashing,but through the plug-in's for 3DS I can turn off crash detection for certain objects in a scene. So I can fly through the hole but when I make a mistake I just clip through the object, no crash. So Can someone make a suggestion as to how I can make a hole to fly through? with a wall I can hit and crash?So far I have tried numerous options,I have tried se…

I have two very small lakes on airport property which I am enhancing. Nothing I have tried seems to remove these small lakes. I have been able to remove the "wave action" using SBuilder and have made a ground cover for the area, again with SBuilder, but the darned little lakes still show through.No exclude of any type seems to work. I therefore assume they are deeply embedded. Is there a tutorial on the subject or better yet, would someone be interested in making whatever type of bgl that is required to remove them for me?Any ideas or offer of help will be greatly appreciated.

Dear friends:I am trying to improve the aspect of the North of Spain in FSX. Really strange,I apply an BMP with the alpha channel to the material ball,in the first time,there's no problem in doning this.After that I rebooted my computer and ran GMAX again,when I use the .bmp with the alpha channel again,the GMAX reported that the BMP is not supported?And the .BMP without the alpha channel is just fine with GMAXBTW,I created the alpha BMP in photoshop,by using the saving option "depth:32 bit" and "format:windows"

Hi every one,I am a newbie in creating FS scenery,thanks to anyone can help me with this problem.During my first project,I was creating a Logo signboard of an airport,which can use an opacity map to reduce the complexity of the model.So I use a BMP in diffuse map channel,it works perfect in FS,but the BMP in the opacity channel dose not work in the FS. The texure displayed in the game ignored the opacity map.Is there sth I haven't noticed in applying an opacity map?

I've been looking for a way to make the jet ways move, at all airports. The smaller airports which do have jet ways they just don't work and Then there's airports with no jet ways period. I have Rwy12 Object Library and FSUIPC and would like to do add objects to a couple of airports but I can't seem to find the afcad2x. anywhere on the net, all I did find was AFCAD2.21 but it doesn't work with fsxHere is my first problem: 1. where are the files that contain the default airports, you know the ones included with fsx and where are they located? 2. Hello all,I am also starting to get into scenery after a long absence. I have installed Gmax to my e: drive e:gmax. The SDK and sp1 have been installed toE:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator X SDKSDKI have pointed the path to the plugins which are located in the gamepack dir.My Question is why do I not have the option of exporting to the .x format? I have cloud and mdl but no .x.Kinda driving me nuts. What am I missing in the sdk instructions?and yes .net v2 is installed

lol I am stumped badly, I have tried everything to get rid of the dreaded poly border gaps.On this file I have 1 plane with 15 total segments I also have a file set that is 15 separate planes arrayed together.Here are the test I ran to remove them1- no 1 pix border to the bmps and no border added via gmax uvw coordinates2- 1 pix border to the bmps and no border added via gmax uvw coordinates3- no 1 pix border to the bmps and border added via gmax uvw coordinates4- 1 pix border to the bmps and border added via gmax uvw coordinates5- added border in photoshop itself to each bmp instead of doing it thru a batch of imagetool.Everytime it yielded the same result, what you see…

Hi Guys,please can anybody help me to produce better colours of the sea? After the first trial with EZ-Landclass I am not really satisfied with the result. The Shoreline looks like a sawtooth.I am still working on a huge shoreline (Catalonia/Spain). It is really time consuming - so maybe there are different methodes to tackle this?As a template I only have Google Earth at the moment...I have heard that one can do this with "water masks" and something called "resample" .
