I have recently updated my KIAH AFCAD to show the new 8R/26L runway, and updated the cargo ramp, however, there are many buildings and trees all over my new taxiways and runway...I have been trying to find a program that would flatten my scenery, and I finally found one that I had hope in... It is FSTflatten...I did everything it said, step-by-step (probably about 6 times now) and my scenery still hasnt flattened... I created the .bgl, moved it to Addon Scenery/Scenery, restarted flight sim, and still, the taxiways are covered in trees... when plotting the vertices to be flattened, i made sure to include everything, I was very generous in fact... but still nothing...Can a…

Hi, guys!I used to use EasyNavs to create standalone VOR's and ILS's. It was easy and worked out just fine.This morning I tried to create an ILS for Bora Bora (NTTB). I don't know why, but it isn't working out this time. I don't know if the ils it creates isn't compatible with FS2004.Does anyone know of a tool to create an ILS for FS2004? Or does anyone has a template for standalone ILS (so I can edit it to whatever I want and compile it?Thanks for any help!Silvestre

I am new to creating scenery, therefore, excuse my relatively simple questions. I created an AFCAD for the purposes of placing an ILS and VOR/DME. Everything seems to work just fine, but I noticed in FSNav that an ILS localizer is shown on both ends of the runway and indicated as 110.30 ICAO 18 and 110.30 ICAO 36. I only install an ILS on runway 18 and did not include a back course option. I would appreciate any advice or comments as to how to only show the one ILS in FSNAV.

I am I suppose a relative beginner here, so maybe I am making some stupid errors. I'd really appreciate some advice.Basic editing of bgls is OK I think - I use BglAnalyze or NewBglAnalyze to decompile the bgl files and SCASM to recompile. I also use an XML editor to edit XML files directly and BGLComp_SDK to remake the bgl. No problems there - usually.But I am lost when I decompile a scenery bgl file to an XML and find I get a tiny XML file as a result plus dozens of small (or one large) .mdl file(s). What do I do then? I am trying to remove some static ships from some scenery, but am now up against a brick wall as I can't, clearly, get into the mdl files. The XML file pr…

Hello,I don't know it is possible, but is their a way to convert old bgl made in SCASM and Airport for windows into the newly needed XML files. Or decompile these bgls and then use the source for the new XML.?If yes, which tools to I need for that?Secondly what with the objects. Presently made in EOD. Is there anything which can be done to use them further in XML's for FS9 or FSX, or do we have to redesign them in GMAX from scratch ?B. RgdsMichel

Hi,Hi, I had no luck or answers on the FS2004 forum, therefore a new try here:I have lately memory overflows. Most probably due some land class file which is not on its right place (a scenery with only a scenery map and without a texture map) But how can one detect a land class file ? I'm new to scenery design, and read quite a few posts on this subject. It's mind boggling, and the Autogen SDK isn't any easier either.My question; is there any way to change the default buildings/vegetation without having to change the underlying textures? I don't want to create photoreal textures - too time consuming I guess.I also note that the SDK can open up vegetation (AutogenDescriptions), Roof and Extrusions. But i'd like to add other objects, as shown in the Global Library - how do I do that?RT

I have used this tag with FSX_KML: Airport_Backgrounds_Flatten_MaskClassMap_ExcludeAutoGento make a flatten & autogen exclude file.Everything workes fine, but only one item, an autogen highpower pole is staying at a trafficway.Can somebody please advise me how to get rid of this object.Thanks in advance.RegardsBert

Guys,After doing some searches throughout the forums, am I correct in thinking that in order to learn how to exclude an autogen bridge I will need to study and learn how to use the Shp2Vec tool?I've tried excluding a bridge over a river using an exclusion rectangle and the "excludeExtrusionBridgeObjects = "TRUE" " statement in an Xml file; but this does not work for the bridge in question.The Shp2Vec tool looks awfully complicated to learn but if it's the only way to get what I want I guess I'll dive in.Thanks for your input.

Follows three pictures from FSX. These are all using the same photo texture BGL. This photo is with the Texture Resolution slider set at 1 meter.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/169705.jpgThis next picture is with the slider set at 30cm.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/169706.jpgThere was also a noticeable difference with the slider at 60 cm but it took a 30cm setting to gain maximum clarity. Now if you compare the same area with the same BGL in TMFVIEWER they are very close. The note of interest is that we may be mentally locked into a 1 meter,or worse, setting on Texture Resolution. However, for photo scenery you may want to try a more detailed setting. This small …

Hey,I've used the object placement tool in FSX to add a few buildings and some static aircraft to a local airport. I would like to add some more static aircraft that are not in the default objects in FSX. I'm looking for some Bell helicopters and some more military and GA aircraft mainly. Is there any way to add objects to be used by the tool? Where would I get them? I'm new to all of this adding scenery objects and I really don't know any more than using the tool that shipped with FSX. Thanks!Brandon

Hello, Has anyone managed to get the SCENERY animations in GMAX models exporting for FSX? I got the GMAX->FSX exporter working and the objects are showing up in FSX no problem, but the animations are a different matter. The AnimationManager is useless, as there is zero help on how it is used, especially in GMAX, and it gives crash warnings on what seems to be some kind of FS9->FSX animation export functionality. I have an area around Coronado Ca using 1m/pixel photos. I occasionally see a lateral displacement where two photo BGLs interface. I have the patch for this problem installed from fsinsider.com.Mostly occurs on overhead views. Not devastating but given the time spent on the area it can be annoying.Dick near 5G8

This is my first post to the forum. I have been playing with AFCAD for some time now but have only recently decided to start doing something more with scenery design. I am beginning to understand how the different scenery components tie together, thanks largely to LWMViewer which gives a clear indication of what each file contributes to scenery.I am working on one airport that is modeled incorrectly in FS9. The navaids are in the perfect positions but the runways, taxiways, aprons, buildings etc are about 200m out of their actual position. I want to use the FSX water landclass in a water area of some photo scenery. However, it does not appear. The landclass BGL is in a separate folder at the #1 priority (top) of the Scenery Library. I have used various landclass types (ice, high rise, etc.) but none appear where there is photo scenery. If I extend the landclass polygon beyond the photo area it appears ok. Or, if I turn off the photo stuff it appears ok. Exlcudes have not helped. Seems like the photo scenery has some high priority outside of the scenery.cfg. Using SbuilderX. Regards,Dick Boley
