    I have been building some scenery and it all works but I can not figure out how to build a bgl so that when installed it lists the nearby airports in the add-on section.I have added a nearby airport to see if that is how others have been able to have there scenery come up in the add-on menu but no luck.I have been unable to find any documentation on how to make this happen. Any help would be greatly appreciated!TIA :-zhelpSean

    I've got a seaplane hangar on the water with ramps that was made with FS9 GMax gamepack. I recompiled with FSX gamepack doing the following modifications in Attach Point Tool:Check Remove FS9 AttachCheck No CrashCheck PlatformPlatforms now work great, but I still have some crashing going on. Went back into GMax and used "Select All" to select the entire model and checked "No Crash"I can put my plane on the platforms, move it with slew anywhere on the platforms and release slew with no crash. However, when I taxi on the platform, I crash!I've checked the scripts in the Properties, User Defined that comes up when right clicking on an object and the scripts seem to be fine:P…

    Hi everybody and Merry Christmas to you!I am just now dabbling in scenery creation and have a very basic question. To what resolution is FS2004 mesh? I see 19m mesh available I guess because there is better 9m mesh around. Is this 19m mesh a big improvement over FS2004 default? And what resolution is FSX? I did a little searching last night (was late and I was tired) and I couldn't find an answer to this question.Thanks in advanceDolph

    I have decompiled the appropriate APXxxxxxx.BGL file. The airport's elevation is evident and has been changed. However, what is the tool to recompile back to an APX.BGL? The SDK does not seem to mention the APX file??Regards,Dick Boley

    Hi all,I posted this in the FS9 forum and got zero replies/answers so I thought I would try here...I have added my own traffic both airplanes and helicopters. All of them are military, no GA. I have noticed that things are fine at the beginning of a flight but after some time, at the destination airport, these added helos start sinking, sinking right up to their bellies. I used a file from AVSIM called "ai_helos.zip" as a basis for getting helos to fly AI. I modified the included aircraft.cfgs to use the same contact points as the original aircraft which seemed to do as I expected, puts the wheels on the ground.     Hi there,I am in the process to create about 2700 BGL files for photo scenery with seasons and lightmaps using the FS2004 resample tool, each BGL covering a square of occupied (i.e. non water) landmass at QMID level 7. I am going to sort these BGLs into a folder structure similar to that in FSX (96 folders, split at QMID 4).The idea is that I get global coverage for my satellite texture photoscenery project (Google Earth or MSN Virtual Earth).I found the process to be painstakingly slow, as RESAMPLE.EXE tends to spit out a gazillion of .tga files in the process and takes 3 hours to process single BGL.     I've downloaded photographic scenery for Hong Kong (pvhk11.zip) and in the credits, the author states "All textures are supplied by Google Earth © free version and manipulated according to the user agreements."I understood that the Google Earth textures were copyright and for personal use only.     I am a little new to scenery creation. I have read the term 'flatten' and I think this is what I need to do in the area I am creating. Is 'flatten' a program (exe), or a command of some kind? Any help will be appreciated.

    Global Mapper - when converting from NAD83 to WGS84 (yes they are very close but was curious) the WGS84 image is "tilted" slightly in the clockwise direction. If that image is applied to resample it wants to make a straight edged image (square or recrangle). Resample "fills in" the blank areas, due to tilting, with a straight edged image. The image in the BGL now has a light colored border.Regards,Dick Boley

    I'm designating a scenery. I'm using AFCAD. I placed the runway to the real location with external markers.The problem is that now the markers are duplicated because the FS9 original markers I can't move it or delete it..what can I do to fix this problem?ThanksSantiago

    Hi all,I have managed to download the whole pack of terrain mesh scenery from FSProject. The point is that when I install some of them, namely the mesh for Scandinavia and UK (but I think the result would be the same no matter which one I install), the airports and particularly, the 3rd-party addonslike from the Project Norway or NL-2000 covering the whole terrritory of Netherlands (can be found at AVSIM library) and even the payware Fly Tampa sceneries installed over the mesh look a bit quirky 'cause many of them sit on elevations or hills AGL. Even some lakes and rivers display the same behaviour. As if all of them have been specifically designed to be sit on the crater…

    Geographically tagged TIFF files appear to be limited to 4 gigabytes. I have a 287mb MrSID file that I wanted to convert to TIFF to resample. However, two different programs say that it will exceed the 4gb limit when decompressed. This is not a large issue in my case since this was done out of curosity. I was wondering if there is a strategy to convert that will compressed MrSid files to something that can be used by the Microsoft resample program?Regards,Dick Boley

    Recently I decided to use my 3d skills to improve my neighbourhood in FSX - I decided to start with some big buildings of my city.After few hours I managed to learn how to export simple model from 3dsmax7 to .X format, how to use xtomdl and compileBGL programs - but I still can't create object with textures that are visible in the game.I prepared a few in photoshop - for example 64x64 px ,BMP 24 format -I tried to put textures in the addon scenery (actually my own folder with scenery somewhere on the HD)-"texture" folder.     Hello all. I've got a problem with photo terrain made with PSM. Seasonal changes within the photo terrain area are not synchronized with the default area. That is, it is already winter in the landclass but still autumn in the airport. Is there any tweak or something to synchronize these? Thanks in advance.

    Gentlemen,I am trying to make the transition from GMAX FS2004 to GMAX FSX. I have the original SDK and the recently issued update. What I am missing is the flow and configuration documentation for the changes.When I load an older GMAX file and try to export it, I get messages about no GUIDs plus the expected notes about a surface not being textured. I understand the texture issue but the process aborts over the GUIDs. Am I supposed to get a X file? What prompts GMAX to create that?Is there a doc somewhere that will enlighten me as to the new process? Thanks.

    Greetings allI had downloaded some listings of changes to FSX airports from FS9, but was interested in knowing if there is a list already created by someone that identifies the FSX airports as to the folders and bgl's they're in. You can find the connections by viewing the decompiled xml files for each bgl but what a waste of time if someone has already done it!     Ok,I want to add some 2004 bgl files (AFCAD) to my FSX.I used the FS92FSX xml converter.I put the .bgl file in in it's own directory in the /addon scenery/scenery file and I click on the directory, it's blank. I go to check, per se, the vegas airport, nothing happens.what am I doing wrong?

    Hi all-In my quest to learn some new scenery stuff here I'm making some progress.I'm able to create a texture-less object and bring it into EZ by exporting from gmax and using the Library Object Manager to open/export an object .bgl.However, when I use a texture (just tried 512 x 512 bmp), everything seems to go fine until I try to open the .bgl in EZ, at which point I get an error message about it not being a valid type or something. But... I can still place the object in EZ, it's just missing its texture.Any help appreciated!thxAndrew

    We had already seen in a very long and exhaustive test that xml (BGLComp) excludes will not reliably remove autogen.In spite of being documented in the BGLComp manual, xml excludes (ExcludeAllObjects) will only remove autogen in entire quad 15 chunks. So, they are not very useful for this purpose.We have been advised to use vector (Shp2Vec) excludes - FLX - instead.However, I have now found that, in certain instances, they are not reliably removing autogen either.In most instances - exclude polygons over default terrain - all autogen objects seem to be removed correctly.But, on land class polygons (PKX), there are objects that remain with no way to exclude them.Here is a …

    Is there a way to take the mdl of an aircraft in FSX and create a bgl that I can place wherever I want in the simulator? Specifically, I am trying to create objects I can place in the mission creator tool. Such as downed aircraft. It lists the default birds as static scenery, but not add-on aircraft. Hi all-I've begun experimenting with EZ-Scenery, and am looking for a way to either create a large polygon textured with a satellite photo to use as reference for object placement, or, better, to be able to apply an image to the terrain itself, and place buildings and objects on that, and have it remain in place.I've downloaded gmax and figure that may be the easiest way to create the "reference polygon" but am not certain.Any help appreciated!thxAndrew
