Hi,FS9 has just given me a nice surprise. I made up a small file with some missing navaids for the UK and also some North Sea NDB's for the oil rigs out there.Just took a flight and found to my great surprise that my additions have appeared on the map. It seems to me that the map data is now read directly from the indexes and not from the BGL's.The update is available in the file library if anyone is interested, about 5 VOR, DME's and Tacans. No mainland NDB's but a fair old number for the North Sea area. FS9 certainly has improved on its navaid coverage this time round.Rgds Ron

Hi all, I'm having trouble with accurate coordinates in my scenery program. When in Slew mode I normally write down the lat/long for my scenery center, but now it's back to a default mode (in fs9) and not like I had it with 2k2. Anyone know the line needed in the fs9.cfg to change it?Thanks in advance,Rob Abernathy

I just posted a question on the general forum about how difficult it is too see the vector autogen power utility pylons. I tried hand placing a few and found that in order too see them easily enough from around 3,000 - 4,000 AGL, they could be at least twice the size they are now. Maybe they are correctly scaled now, but that doesn't take into account low res monitors compared to real life and a small 2D viewing area compared to real life.So has anyone been able to rescale the size of autogen objects (I mean without individually hand placing them)? There doesn't seem to be any parameter to change the scale of the pylons themselves - only the distance between them.

Hi all!I decided to share with you my first scenery creation entirely in gmax. Punta Cana (MDPC)the first is a before/after screen shot of the actual airport. I hope you guys note which one is the "after" one!The second one is a comparison with a real picture.

- Image of "Runcorn" bridge in FS2002 -Reference Imagehttp://idle.thehueys.com/bridges/albums/Mi...dge02.sized.jpg- The same type of Arc bridge, Thatcher's or America's Bridge as it's most commonly known, is missing in Panama CityReference Real Imagehttp://www.cznostalgia.com/cznostalgia/Bbridge.jpgThere are various other real pictureshttp://images.google.com/images?q=thatcher...&oe=UTF-8&hl=enAs many out there missing in FS2004, I find this particular bridge very important since it's the only engineering structure that "bonds" North And South America.Searching around I haven't found any picture posted of the same bridge type being available autogen FS2004.The que…

Hey Dick, just got the updates for the Coastline editor and the new Cellgrid for FS9, but have a question. I get the grid fine and notice that it is a bit more detailed than the older one, but I am not getting any numbers to define areas. Have I missed something and could you point me in the right direction?Regards, Michaelhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpgCalVirAir International VAwww.calvirair.comCougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviationwww.cgrmtnhelos.com

Hi people,I got some problem I just can't seem to find the solution for.As soon as I change the Emitter Velocity to something else than zero, the complete FX becomes no more visible, just vanished. Particle Velocity works, but this ain't what I want/need.Huhmm huhmm. Thanks in advanceEtiennePS.: I wonder though why it seems to work with e. g. fx_launch2.fx, see line 20: Y Emitter Velocity=32.00, 32.00

Hi all since these textures have specular highlites what is "special"about 'em?,I.E do I have to do any thing when I create the textures?Or will F.S simply add the specular highlights to any texture that'sa "water" texture? Thanks in advance! Dan

Hi,I'm just wondering if somewhere there is a comprehensive list of all the library object names or GUIDs contained in FS2002, or even FS2004? If not all, then at least a large list :-) So far, I am aware of the GUIDs for some of the new autogen objects, as they are already listed in the FS2004 autogen.xml file. I've also downloaded the FS2002 Effects SDK, and the Effects Placer executable seems to have a large number of library objects in a drop-down box. But a lot of the names are meaningless and don't actually appear to be visible objects as such. I'm sure there are many more I am not aware of. I'm particularly interested in newer GMAX objects that I could place, like …

Hi all,I've been doing some more tests on the photo terrain design. What im doing is use resample (FS2000) on my original aerial photo test image and on a 256 (8bit) colour mask which contains white and black regions. The BMPs are generated by resample and I use FS Texture converter to group everything into one set of textures.I first used DXT1 + Alpha (FS2002) and the thing works except for one thing. If there is underlying land in an area which is black in the alpha image, rather than getting transparency which I take it as being the underlying land in FS, the land is removed and instead I get water (default FS2002 water that is)!!If on the other hand I use DXT3 + Alpha…

Please could somebody give me a hand as I have tried everything I know to get the VOR beacon at Trivandrum (India)removed from the middle of the runway where it has been placed in error.I have tried manual excludes in the scenery cfg but they do not seem to work and I can't compile a bgl as I am unable to get any of them to work for me in winXP.Any chance one of you guys could compile a bgl and upload the fix to the file library or post it here. I know lots of people have not flown here but I have had a holiday in the area and flown to and from this airport a few times so I like to go there quite often and at the moment landing is a bit tough!!!!Thanks for the help Jonat…

Never mind. I finally figured it out. With FSDS one must select the daytime texture and add the nighttime "flag" so the night texture will display properly.Jimhttp://www.northern-exposure.org/sig/ne_sig.jpg

I have FSTEXTURE. However, what is the process to create a transparency mask to block the appearance of specific elements/thing of a photoreal texture from showing in FS2002?? I have never used the Alpha channel so not sure of how to do this - color, etc...The objective is to isolate roads from Terrascene for placement without any other textures so that the roads are laid on top of the existing FS2002 textures and not show Terrascene textures.DickKLBE

Hi all,Is there any1 using an Abit Nvidia FX5200 - I've got it on my system and I'm not certain I'm getting full performance in FS. Other games play really well but I'm not convinced about FS. By any chance should I include some new lines in the display.cfg file as I did with my MX420 Geforce 4?Storm

Went for a flight in FS2004 yesterday and noticed that there are racing pylons in the standard scenery for Reno - Stead (4SD). Was quite surprised, as the Reno Air Racing Association was always actively discouraging people from making scenery for FS and publishing it, they said they had the exclusive rights and making scenery of the racecourse without their consent was "illegal". So did MS get the rights or did they just say "no one will dare sue MS" ?I found out about this problem when I made a scenery myself after wondering why there is no 4SD-scenery available online. Turned out, some people actually had made scenery but can't bring it online (not even as freeware!) 'c…

Hi guys!Yesterday I spent some hours trying to put a VTP polygon with grass texture on it in scenery. All the points were correct, the sequence also but what is weird is that in FS2004 this polygon is showed up perfectly right, just as it should be but in FS2002 a part is missing and from some point, one edge is heading directly northward to another point, close to start. These two points weren't put there by me :(I have already observed these kind of problems and I usually hav solved the problem by splitting it to two polygons. But here, I have been playing with it a little bit, I have put only 3 points and even with three points this phenomenon in FS2002 has appeared.Ha…

Hi all,I have released an FS2004-compatible version of my Coast-Line-Maker utility - look for V2.2.1 in the AVSIM or FLIGHTSIM libraries, or get it from my own site:http://flightsim.computing.dundee.ac.ukV2.2.1 is an upgrade to COASTLM2.ZIP (V2.0) which you will need to install first.V2.2.1 will allow you to recompile existing CLM projects to work correctly with either FS2004 or FS2002; it will also allow you to exclude FS2004 railroads and VTP bridges from the default scenery.Future updates to CLM will allow you to ADD these new FS2004 features too!Note that if you are starting a new CLM project in FS2004, you will need the FS2004-compatible version of CellGrid by Richar…

I am a gauge developer (good C/C++ knowledge), and for a new Navigation Display, I am trying to read the FS2002/2004 BGL files to extract the VOR, NDB, ILS, Airports and Fixes.I have read the FS2002 Scenery SDK, but I really couldn't understand it... not even with the biggest efforts. In addition, I am not familiar with MASM macro-assembler.I'd like to know if a scenery designer could help me in understanding this. Thanks in advance !!Eric

How to troubleshoot the *.lwm file which does not want to compile. Always gets stuck on 1068 position. Before I got it compiled 2 or 3 times. Not anymore. I have looked inside file with an text editor, but could not identify this spot.I have noticed that sometimes just saving and reloading helps, but not this time. What makes this process so erratic?Ted
