I've developed a way how to display photorealistic textures in a VPT polygons, that allows me to make photo-sceneries that are smaller than an Area ( LOD13 square ) or that cover only part of the Area.I'm writing this post to share this with you and I am looking forward for your experience with such a problems. I use Ground2k for creating my VPT sceneries, but these informations are usable with any method of creation.When you look at documentation to Ground2k, it allows you to use value 252 and 253 for a VPT polygon. Hi allafter by mistake i delete all my gmax folder, and install'd againi have a problem the export opration for bgl dont work it writh "D'ont know how to save to that file type" i try thes "xxx.bgl".the makemdl is in the plugins folder still nothing can do please helpdavid

(Cross-posted on scenerydesign.org)I'm attempting to do some corrective ground poly creation at KRDG, and I've run across a problem that I can't seem to get around. For various reasons I'm adding a Gmax-produced poly of a parking lot to an area that has no parking at all in the default airport. I'm using Arno's tip for replacing the "ADDOBJ" code in my asm file with ADDCAT and specifying the layer on which to draw my object. However, no matter how far down I set the layer order for my new poly, it always lays over the top of the existing taxiways. I've gone down as far as layer 1, so I don't think I can sink much lower! Dear George:The ILS in FS2004 is part of the airport data and with an hexadecimal editor we can change the coordinates to the APxxxx.bgl files.I have use the bgl2asm to see the FS9 airport data, i have changed the position of the airport refernce point and all the APT data like AI traffic, lines, signs, change their position, but the building were in the original position.Then only problem i that i dont know hot to convert hexadecimal numbers to degree minutes seconds or hext to degrees, does anybody know the steps?Thanks.alfredo Mendiola LoyolaLima Peru

Hi all,Thank you all for downloading the wtc memorial lights. I have received requests to increase the viewing distance for the lights. They are legit requests since I can view them (albeit faintly) from about 20 miles away. Though I have done some searches through the forum on effects and distance I have not found much there, or in the effects sdk. There is a distance setting for a control fx file but I have not seen any change in the viewing distance when I have played with the settings. I need to confirm there is not much I can do about viewing distance or get some advice and training in this area to improve my understanding.I am new to posting and scenery design,…

Recently, macro's for using existing objects from the Autogen library on an individual basis have been published.My question is...Would the reverse be possible?I'd like to add a new (GMAX) object into the library, and obtain a GUID for it, so I could use it in the new default.xml autogen to add new autogen building types or replace existing ones.For instance, I'd like to replace the cathedrals in the European autogen with a more common, single-steeple type church.It would also be great if we could add entirely new types!Is it possible or will we have to wait for the SDK?Thanks, Martijn

I have 2 scenery.cfg files. One is in my fs folder along with my aircraft folders etc. and the other is in the same directory as my fs9.cfg. I edited the one in the fs folder because I deleted a scenery file, but the one in other directory is now different. Am I supposed to have 2 of them, and which one is the right one? And do the numbers have to be consecutive? If I remove a scenery do I need to edit the the entries after the one I deleted in the scenery.cfg file so that so they follow the entry before the one I deleted? Many thanks!rgds,billg

Hi all.A newer version of TDFCalc2004 is available at AVSIM's Library:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...04sd&DLID=35681This version is just the same as teh version enclosed with CellGrid2004, but it also adds true heading... very interesting to slew with the shift-z activated to show magnetic heading, and TDFCalc2004 showing true heading. Useful when placing objects and using the slewing crosshair as a guide.It uses FSUIPC3+ in FS2004 ( you'll need to add the regisrtation code in FSUIPC's menu ). I hope this is the right forum to post this question.I downloaded and installed the Florida Landclass pack for FS9, but I don't see any difference in the scenery. In particular, the barrier islands in northwest florida are still shown as farmland instead of beach terrain. I followed the installation instructions and when I started flight simulator it rebuilt the scenery indices. So I guess my question is, did I maybe do something wrong or are the barrier islands just not changed by the landclass files?Also, if someone could point me to a do-it-yourself landclass editing tutorial I will have a go at making an update myself for the benefit of anyone else living and flyin…

Hi allI'm here again after a lot of time to post another question.I would like to redraw an island and i've take my map and place it over a screenshot of the default scenery. Now i must 'cut off' some land and add some water sourround new profile of island.Wath's the better way to do it?The tutor Ground2K_for_beginners say that we wish to exclude the default shoreline.Wath's happen if i do it? At least both of my copies on both of my machines. It first started when I noticed the default windsocks randomly disappearing at some airports. One minute a windsock would be there, the next minute it would have disappeared. The only way to make the windsock re-appear was to move the scenery density slider up a notch, or the autogen density slider up a notch (and windsocks aren't even autogen).Then yesterday I started trying to place objects using the existing version 8.0 bglc compiler. I made up a csv file that placed around 30 power pylons in a row, each spaced at around 1.0 nm intervals. This is where it gets wierd. When I fly over the pylons, only about half of them …

Hi all:I'm experimenting with free Landsat 7 ETM imagery available at http://geogratis.cgdi.gc.ca/clf/en to use either directly as photoreal or as a basis for high-quality landclass replacements.For the photoreal textures, I merged the panchromatic 15-m band with the three lower 30-m bands as described on John Child's website: http://www.terrainmap.com/rm29.html#HSL . The procedure gives good results and I have been able to display the textures in FS2002. However, two issues remain:1. The merging procedure results in a color shift that is tricky to correct. Only about 3000 airports now available in my FS2004. Go To Airport shows 28 countries and 28 states/provinces. Does anyone know which cd/file holds the airport info ? I really do not want to reload the entire sim.Dick KLBE

I'm trying to create streams and rivers in my scenery. The poly count is greater then 127. The VTP SDK says that you can create more then 127 VTP polys by repeating the same texture id with the remaining polygons. HiI made a new airport over an existing one. I removed the runway, traxiways and buildings using the flatten tags and compiling it via BGLC into a BGL file. I did NOT use the flattten switch in the scenery.cfg as this would also have exlcudeded the new scenery I am designing.So now I have the rpoblem that I want to get rid of all these small black yellow runway/taxiway signs .. how can I do that? writing a single exclude swtich for every signs is deadmans work I guess, any other chance??thanks for any answerMario :-)

Hi I'm still a newbie in this MS world and excuse me if I'm asking a stupid question...but I will take my chance... ;-)I'm living in Denmark on Sealand and east of Sealand is a little Swedish island called Ven. It highest point is 132 meters but in FS2004 it is really flat.So what tool should I use for "raising" the ground level?What tool do I use for making the Ven look a little more like the real thing, i.e. textures and the shape of the island?CheersMarkDenmark

Wasn't there a Microsoft document in one of the SDKs that described the concept of designinig scenery tiles that appear to be seamless? I had someone ask me how it was done because it appears to be so "tileless?" and I seem to recall it was described at length in a document somewhere but I cannot find it.
