Hi folksI'm just starting out in the scenery design arena and would like to add some enhancements to my local airport, KSJC. One major feature is the blast fences at either end of the runway (since there are perimeter roads going round each end). Does anyone know of a macro I can include to add these necessary - albeit ugly - bits of scenery. I am working in 2002 with Derek Leung's Scenery Creator.

Hi folksthis has probably been flogged to death before but im using the above version of Derek Leungs FSSC and am at a loss as to how to get the rounded corners when a taxiwayline changes directiom.Ive read that the arcset should be set at 30-45m. At what points in selecting and dragging the taxiwayline can i get the line to move round the corner so to speak and to display the curve as the lines changes direction by 90 degrees.As always any advice is appreciated.Tom

Does anyone know how to remove the default taxiway signs? After editing my airports AFCAD, the signs are all out of place. SCASM excludes don't seem to work at all. I assume that the taxiway signs are tied to the actual taxiways somehow, so it may be an issue that will have to be worked out using a future version of AFCAD2. It would be nice to now if anyone has figured out how to get rid of them now though.- Martin

Hi to everybody. I have inserted in the folder texture of my bgl a photoreal of the coast. The bmp clearly has the channel alpha and I has tried both with DXT1 and with 8bit. But: in FS the coast drawn with ground2k is not seen anymore. Some help??? thanks

Hi allI would like to add static aircrafts to my scenery. Has got anybody experience with a design technique that influences the frame rate not to much?I'm thinking about adding AI-Traffic, but AI-Aircrafts require a lot of resources and I don't know how to make them static.The old API Macro Aircrafts with "old style textures" also require a lot of resources.Does anybody can give me a suggestion where to find "static" GMAX designed Aircraft Macros or a place to find good AI-Aircrafts which do not affect the frame rate to much?And a way to make the AI-aircrafts static?Thanks in advance.ByeJoerg

Not really a problem... but noticed that one of the parts (a dock piling) of my macro isn't showing periodically. When I pan around in Spot view, the part will show, but when up close it disappears. Hello,This isn't the same problem I've mentioned on a previous post regarding crash to desktops. Potentially this one could be more serious.About two weekends ago, when loading up fs2004, my screen blinked out and displayed a flashing dos cursor in the top left hand corner.Amid the loud music I was playing I thought I heard a grinding noise in my machine and thought that a cable had caught the CPU fan and the motherboard went into automatic protection mode.I hit the reset button and the machine booted up normally after a disk check.There were no more problems with this until last thursday and again today. Hello,I've been progressing very very well with my Lancashire project. But I'm now getting a problem with instant crashes to desktop. My last known good configuration of this scenery was on sunday and since that time I've just added more roads to the last corner of my project.Well since then, I couldn't load the scenery, fs2004 crashed instantly when it got to 43% whilst loading terrain. So I progressively deleted scenery files from my project folder. I tried deleting landclass, no effect. I deleted the exclude file, no effect. I then deleted the a file called lancs_9.bgl - the one containing all the lines scenery. Bingo! I got to load fs2004.So with the problem i…

I've noticed several new replacement ground texture packages being posted for download here lately, and I've got a troubling thought about it. Someone has already started a thread in which they decry the problem of some airports terrain textures not blending well with their new generic ground textures -- which of course is something that's bound to happen if the author of a custom terrain package designs their textures to blend with the default MS ground tiles. I can see this becoming more of a problem as the replacement ground textures become more popular, provided of course that they do. I don't have any answers to this other than a shrug. It reminds me of the old days …

I designed scenery for FS2002 and FS2004 using Airport 2.6One of the main runways, 1L / 19R have ILS settings using the same frequency. When I use the scenery files in FS2002, the ILS reads correctly for each runway. The ILS indicator works correctly in the cockpit. But when I use the same scenery files in FS2004, the ILS are now reversed,showing the opposite identifier information and reversing the indicator. In the past I seem to recall an exclude file that was not large enough to "cover" the default navaids. But the exclude files I used seem big enough. I have tried enlarging them substantially with no correction of the problem.Thanks for any ideas. Steve

I have been using the ground polys (VTP2) in ground2k4 for taxiways at Grass fields. For most people this is ok... Some however are complaining about errors and lockups with the *_5.bgl's. How can I prevent this and Whats causing this? The texture I am using with this poly is the taxi_dirt.bmp that is default in FS9 and resides in the FS9texture folder. It works fine in mine and the 2 testers that I use, but after every release there are allways 1 or 2 emails about this.Thanks for your helpJoe W.

Hey Chaps,What's the deal with ILSs' in FS2004. I've tried adding one with FSSC & AFCAD2 but, it's still using the old Microsoft default ILS.Pretty sure I excluded them in FSSC but they refuse to die.Is this a known issue? Hope it can be fixed in the future.Thanks Guys,George

I am using PhotoSceneryMaker and am getting the dreaded black spaces around my scenery, because the texture does not fit exactly within the grids. How do I line up the map so that it exactly fits within the grids? I have tried several approaches, and none seems to work.Thanks,Phil

I think we tackled the new format (0x300) of the LWM masks in earlier posts, but there seems to be a serious limitation. I strongly suspect that LWMPoly2Ex does NOT work! I haven't confirmed 100%, but:1) the included ASM files don't work. Either FS9 crashes or I get spikes. Smaller airport flatten ASM files (that don't use LWMPoly2Ex) work fine.2) I couldn't find any polygons with more than 63 points in the default LWM files (I haven't decompiled all of them, but there is a trend that polygons have a max point count of about 16).This would make version 0x300 useless for coastline building (in my opinion). I'm inclined to go with version 2 LWM polys and substitute Area Fil…

I have been getting lots of enquiries about using trees_v3.zip with FS2004. Those who subscribe to my newsletter/support service got the answers long ago, but for newcomers and those who don't bother to register :-The present version of my Trees Library (trees_v3.zip) works fine in FS2004. Hi. Has anyone discovered anything new on the autogen problem with FS2004? I'm talking about the problem where the XML-defined autogen objects and vector objects cause slowdowns after flying for a while, forcing you to refresh the autogen, or delete the default.xml file and disable vector objects (=FS2002 style autogen - welcome to late 2001!) There was a thread here some time ago, where the conclusion was that it might be possible to fix once the scenery is out but it isn't likely. Has anyone dug deeper into the problem? Has anyone heard anything from Microsoft at all? I would really like see this problem fixed so I can re-install FS2004. In its current state, it's simpl…

Hi, I am trying to have the sim play a continuous .wav file when my aircraft reaches a certain latitude and longitude. I know the conversion formula for the coordinates, but could somebody please show me an example of an abl code that would acomplish this. For reference what I am wanting to do is give sound to a rumbling volcano using one of the default thunder .wav files. Thanks for any help that you can give, JohnP.S. this is for FS2002
