    I am trying to lay runways, etc. directly on top of a 10m mesh. The area was once an airport and is still fairly flat, but it does slope. I am using FSSC to create the airport. For the runways, I cannot use a default runway, since that forces the land underneath to flatten. However, I am hoping that I can use something as a substitute, like a road or a taxiway. Two problems:1. I have not found a way to make good looking runways, taxiways or roads that stay on top of the ground. The roads, etc created with FSSC disappear under bumps, etc. The roads, etc. created with coastlinemaker are too fuzzy. I have tried setting different priority levels, but that doesn't see…

    Hallo, this is my first post.Following the tips and discoveries of Richard Ludowise, and using the excellent program of Christian Fumey Ground2k (v. 4.0), I have begun last week to modify the coastlines in some restricted zones of CFS2.I have by the time nearly finished La Spezia harbor, with good results. At the moment I'm working on a more ambitious project, Malta and Gozo. After some pains in finding an appropriate map, as there is no NIMA coverage for the area, I finally got stuck: no matter what I do, I can't find a way to hide some areas of the default scenery.     Hi,I'm learning scenery editing and I'm quite new in this area.I'm using FSSC latest upgrade.There is this airport at my hometown, Orebro Airport (ESOE),I have excluded the surrounding grassfield at rwy 36/18 withuse of DefArea. That worked OK. But, problem is with excluding the semi transparent grass runway. It seems impossible to get rid of it. Also there's a polygon grass field on the west side of the runway that cannot be excluded. Interesting is that this area has no seasonal changes. It's just green in the winter.The same goes for the apron, I could exclude the misplaced buildings, but not the also misplaced apron.Any one having a solution for my problem?Thank'sLago

    I was looking at some default FS2k4 BGLs with the EXCELLENT tool LWMviewer and comparing them with some BGLs of one of my sceneries, made with the not-less-excelent Ground2k4. One thing that came to my attention is that the g2k4 polys appear all triangularized, while the default polys seem to have several shapes. Of course, they are still 'tesselated' into the appropriate LOD grid (can't remember which one now, it's been months since I last have fiddled with scenery).Is that just an artifact because of the way the polys are displayed or did this really change from FS2k2 to 2k4?

    I'm converting my FS2002 scenery for FS2004. In both versions the default apron and taxiways are unsuitable and incomplete so I've excluded and made replacements in FSSC with lines and lighting. All is fine in 2002 but I had no progressive taxi in 2004 despite being careful with heights.Decided to use AFCAD2 for all lines etc in 2004 and now have no lines and lighting at all or progressive taxi. My apron/taxiways are layer 16 and if I deactivate my scenery all the details in my AFCAD2 file show up.I've been careful to ensure scenery and AFCAD2 ref point heights match and have played with the latter to try to make the lines etc show in 2004 without any luck.Have I missed s…

    Hi All (again... sorry!)I have made some taxiway signs for my airport using FSDS... basically they're just boxes with a texture stuck on the side (including a night texture) all it contains is 6 polygons and the texture (a 256x256 bmp, which contains the texture for three signs). yet it kills the frame rate, I tried reducing the size of the texture, but it didn't look as nice and it didn't have any impact on the frame rate.Do any of you have any ideas? could it be anything to do with materials?any help or ideas much appreciated!cheersShaun

    Hi all,I have an unusual offer to make you all. Hope it will get some response.For the last 5 months or so, I am working on a detailed scenery for Israel - the Holy Land, utilizing those three excellent programs known to all of us; ground2k, EZ-landclass and gmax. The country (700 km long and 130 km wide) is divided into 4 parts;1. Galilee, 2. Central Coastal Area with Tel-Aviv.3. Central mountains and Jordan Valley with Jerusalem, 4. Southern Desert with Dead Sea.So far I completed part #1 which was recently uploaded to Avsim and other sites.     I am having difficulties exporting my hangar that I created in GMAX, into the scenery of Flightsim 2004. I am using the GMAX program that came with FS2004. When I export my building, I can export it to the scenery folder, but I'm never prompted, or given an option of where to place the object in the game (no place to add any coordinates for the location). An earlier post I read on this forum talked about having the GMAX version that came with FS2002 registered before an export could be performed. Well I registered my copy of FS2002's GMAX when I was using FS'02, and I was given a password and login for it. If this is the case, how do I transfer the information for GM…

    Hi,I am desinging an extremely wrong MS coast. First I fill the 1x1 area with land , then choose a Landclass texture and last draw water LWM polygons. My problem is , all my land polygons are flatten. My previously loaded mesh works only under MS default lands, not my lands. I tried to draw a layer 4 VTP line over my lands and there are invisible too.What must I do?ThanksKenan

    Hi,It has already been reported here the problem that lights, made either with SCASM Dot()or Light(), have a very limited range.I have a series of "pilot houses" that iluminate at night and worked reasonable well in FS2002. Now the light beams are only visible at less than 2 miles or so. I also had custom runway illuminations that suffer from this low visibility range problem.Do gMax designers get high range visibility for lights as in FS2002?Any tips would be greatly appreciated,Regards, Luis

How do I do to now use some images photoreal??? do I have to use another program???     Hi, I'm making the terrain for my Inchon Intl Airport scenery.(RKSI) Problem is I can't fill up the water between islands. I used Ground2K 4.0 and drew shore lines according to the tutorial ; Ground2K for Beginners. Then I tried to make landmark(LC button on the toolbar) and use Area attribute(F1) to fill the Area with land. But it's vain like the attachment. It was successful only in areas containing default lands. How can I fiil the water? ps. Because I'm not familiar with Ground2K, please tell me the exact process of making terrain or tutorial. I read the manual but it's too difficult. ^^;

    Has anyone run into a situation where VTP2 textures refuse to cover over a given area of autogen scenery? I am working in an area (Cell grid 204, 131) south of 3BS airport in Midland, Michigan, attempting to place the grounds of the Midland Regional Medical Center over generic city autogen scenery. Even though my 3d items appear, I cannot change the texture of the ground around the hospital and have tried several layer assignments from 4-50. An additional clue is that choppers hit invisible scenery about 4 feet off the deck in the same 'lawn' area of the hospital. I attempted to raise the elevation of the entire area as a trouble-shooting technique and the obstruction …

    Hello! I have been trying now for 2 days to fix a scenery issue I am having with FS2004. The problem I have is that there is no city scenery. The only detailed scenery I have is airports. I hit (Ctrl) and S and all I see is the airport and green boxes where the city should be. I have tried all the settings and even re-loaded FS2004 and downloaded the latest Radeon 8500 drivers and no luck. If anyone can help me or give me ideas, I would really appreciate it!Thanks!Ryan

    Suddenly I have started getting a 507 error on any project I attempt to start. I finished one project earlier today, without problems. When I attempted to begin a new project, I cropped the image and got my coordinates to start the project. After entering the data, I got a 507 error. I cropped the image again, another 507. Reboot didn't help. Complete removal and reload of the program didn't help. I attempted to begin even another (test) project using the same exact image and coordinates that I used earlier today..... 507 error.     Hi AllI've got a problem concerning light cones. I'm trying to create a light cone for my scenery which should light up the ground.I'm designing in GMAX. Light points with LIGHT_NAV, LIGHT_BEACON and LIGHT_STROBE work fine. (Created a spline,changed to editable mesh, applied the material with the correct materialname as defined in the FS SDK).But I can't get the light cones to work. I used exactly the same procedure, created the spline. Named the material and changed the pivot Z-Axis for the angle, but the cone does not show up.Does anybody has an explanation why it does not work?Thanks in advance.ByeJ

    Hi AllI have just got to the ILS for my runway and low and behold hit a snag... the airport has a paired ILS sytem so both ends of the runway are on the same frequency. I have added two ILS objects with their seperate idents, but when I get into FS I can only tune into the one. MS have managed to get it to work in the default scenery so I know its possible, I just have no idea how to do it! I would leave the default ILS in place but its not accurate enough... and well the ILS is kinda important ;)CheersShaun
