Hi all,here's an image of my problem:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/44913.jpgI have redefined the landclass of the entire image area but it crosses a LOD5 boundary which remains visible as an edge. If I understand correctly, the problem is that landclass files are actually 257x257 files and that (in my example) column 257 of the left area has to be identical with column 1 in the right area. I actually have the same landclass values on both sides but it seems that Ground2K doesn't show column 257 but rather 256, which results in the FS default landclass values for that column showing through. Correct?Is there an easy fix for this (in Ground2K)? I have looked at Russel'…

hi, I am not able to get the landclass bgl file to be generated, it does not give any message, I can get the road file, textured polygon file, but not the landclass file, the one terminated in _3.I searched the forum as well as the manual obtained in the library, but there is no reference to my problem.I can see in the map the new landclass that I modified, but I dont get anything on the folder where the bgl is supposed to appear.Thanks

EH, First of all this is my first post on avsim's forums, so it's an introduction too. Hi. I've been flying MSFS since ver1.0, never designed aircraft, and only played around making scenery with 'aircraft and scenery designer' for...FS4 I think it was. I've got a list of scenery projects (for 2k4) and figure it's about time to start.My question is, What scenery design progs are available for **FLIGHT SIM 2004** and which are most recommended? What I'm looking to do first is add taxiways, runways, lights, buildings, and roads to existing **FS2004** default scenery. Since I never refuse to save a Ground2K4 file I did not heed the warning to backup the LWM files. Well, accidents (wrong click) do happen. Now the Christian Fumey email address does not work so maybe he looks here occaisionally and can fix my file.Since the LWM file is 233kb I am prohibited from attaching it. Perhaps Christian can post a valid email adress if he stops-by.Dick KLBE

Mine's not working.I have 2 24bit bmp files in the same directory. One, named MyScenery_su.bmp, has satelite imagery. The second, named MyScenery_watermask.bmp, is a black and white version of the first with black where I want water and white where I want the first to show through. I get the scenery tiles but no water.The 2 docs with the custom terrain SDK contain the word water 3 times; all land/waterclass names. Nothing about the watermask file.

Friends, I have generated a scenery file where I ran down the GPS co-ordinates for my immeadiate neighborhood. (Wanted to over fly my home). After I completed the file (in fssc) compiled it and all that junk I decided to take a test flight.. Well my scenery is currently displaced into a local bayou.. not by much, but enough to know that something isn't right. HELP!!Mark+

Does Coastline Maker apply water effects? I've been trying to use this program to build a float pond next to the runway that I use...FS 2004 doesn't show it. I used the river draw tool and the river shows, but I land on it like its a hard surface. Also, the underlying land seems to "show through" the river I added. Am I maybe using the wrong program to do this? Thanks

Hello, I was looking at my Download Package of "Airport Environment Upgrade MX", and was looking at the textures. I came to the conclusion that what FS was doing was take an undetailed bitmap with the basic material pattarn on it, and then overlaying a repeated "whats the word here, um?" - detail map on top of that to give the surface the feel of a real material if you catch what I am saying. Can we use this technique in 3rd Party Scenery, and how many of these "Detail Maps" can you have? I read long ago that this works, yet drawing a vtp2 (set to use custom textures, both textures provided) that crossses an area boundary appears to crash fs9. Does anyone report success in creating a single vtp2 poly that crosses area boundaries and uses custom textures (253)?Bob Bernstein

Hey guys. In an effort to reduce some of my boredom waiting for the SDK, I started writing a BGLC dissassembler for the BGL files. Things have been going real well, but I notice that several of the macros described in the original FS2000 BGLC SDK (also supported by FS2002) do not seem to be built into the BGLC compiler.PLATFORM_HEADER and FLATTEN_POLY are just a few of them. However, I have seen sample code on this site that use the PLATFORM_HEADER macro (Christian has posted this before).The question is....if the macro support is not built into the BGLC compiler, then where are people getting the definitions ? My New Friends, I am working on a detailed scenery project for 3GM. The Default scenery has this particular airfield layed out all wrong!.. Question: Without spending a ton of cash on this thing, Which is the better program to use. Question: How detailed should my scenery update be?I have began to collect GPS co-ordinates for various areas of the airfield. BUT - my gps gives me info in this format: 49-01.522N086-09.634W My particular problem with this is - FSSC and a couple of others will not allow me to enter the co-ordinates in this detailed fashion. I was just wondering if anyone here would know what files go to which skyscrapers in downtown LA in FS2004? I'm particularry looking for the textures for the buildings that say "First Interstate" and "IBM" on them. I want to change those to reflect the actual looks of the buildings today, because the ones in Flight Simulator are outdated. If any one can help me, I would really appreciate it.Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure why, but now I am having a problem getting the coordinates right.I've used Elronds program since he made it available more than a years ago, I have become so used to it that I never think about it. But now as I am starting over from sctach with new image data I can't seem to get things right at all. Does anyone know of any old "how to" or tutorial for this dandy progie?I am using all the same programs as I always have, Arcview and GlobalMapper for Data transfer, I am using WGS84 projection and using dd.dddddddd decimal degrees for all boundries and enter the exact extents of my source Bmp before it is cropped, perhpas this is my problem? I've upgraded all of the files I need to make Coastline Maker work with FS2004, including Cell Grid 2004, but I'm not seeing the grid in FS. I wonder if I'm not putting the inputs right into Cell Calculator and the LOD is in a totally different area then where I'm at. When Cell Calculator comes up, it has 4 places... 00:00:00.0 How do you input degrees, seconds and minutes? I'm trying to get the LOD8 for the following place, Chena Marina N64:48.50 W147:55.52 as per FS. I get the following, with some trial and error, if I type it as follows N64:48:50 W147:55:52 and get LOD8 68,71. Is that right? If it is, then I'm not getting the grid to show up. Do you use the "v…

Hi there:just had a very scary moment while putting some finishing touches on a large Ground2K project. I save frequently and doing so got an error message saying 'file already open' and a crash of Ground2K4. After that I couldn't open the file again; checking it in Wordpad revealed that the writing process had been incomplete and about 1/4 of the file was missing. My latest backup was 3 days old but, after some deep breathing, I had the idea to use it for splicing a 'proper' ending to my broken file. That worked and it seems like I lost 'only' some of my land/water-class assignments and excludes. Phew!It would be great if Ground2K had an automatic backup feature: each ti…

Can anyone tell me what resolution textures can be used with a VTP1 poly?Using G2K, I have tried laying different resolution textures onto a poly, resizing them in G2K to fit the poly. However,in FS2k2 it looks like the resolution is only about 4.8m/pixel, the same as a photoreal texture once run through resample.exe. Is this the best you can get with a VTP1 poly?Is there a way to get better ground resolution, for example like the default runways, or like a texture applied to an object with Gmax.Thanks

Hi, people!I would like to make polygons with custom textures (located in the FS2002SCENEDBWORLDTEXTURE folder).I tried with the VTP2/"Other texture" option, but it only worked during the day time and without the seasonal variations.I would like to have only day/night variations... The seasonal variations is not necessary...How I could make this type of polygon? I'm using Ground2k 4.0 version.Could someone help me?Thanks!

I would like to add streetlights to the Coronado Bridge, but I am having trouble figuring out how to get the effect in GMAX. I looked around for a street light file that I could import, but haven't found anything. Any thoughts?Thanks,Robert
