On my system (Windows XP) if I activate a window outside of AutoASM during Read Data, Write LWM or Write VTP the program enters a tight loop eventually emerging intact but not completing the operation. Background events also seem to trigger this as well. Usually I have no problems with BMP files less than 100mb. Larger seems to take enough time that something happens within Windows to cause the loop. I have told Christian Wright.Dick Boley KLBE

I am trying to update my KORF2K2 for 2K4. One of the things that bothered me about my last release was the texture of my taxiways. Using FSSC, I added in ground polygons where taxiways meet other taxiways/runways to represent the actual fillets that are present. I used the same texture for the polygon as the taxiway, but the texture was blown up really large and it did not match. So I tried to scale it to 0.1m and that didn't work either.I was so glad to see that AFCAD2 fillets automatically, but I don't think it is compatible with addon scenerys that have exclusion areas. Any ideas? Has anyone made this work in the past? Thanks!Matt PerryKORFBuilder

I have two file done in XML. One works.... I just copied that from the doc and changed the coords in notepad. It places an Oil rig in Puget sound. This is that file:<?xml version="1.0"?>I copied that and opened that file in XMLEdit Pro and changed the scenery object and the coords. It doesn't compile. And the program is adding things into the file.<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>Is the item... keeping it from compiling? I took that out and it still doesn't compile. Will the program (BGLComp)compile either XML or txt? Will the payware program Garresh mentioned, check the syntax?( Pullin my hair out)Joe W.

I have an almost completed airport building that has large glass walls and other windows. When I alpha masked the windows and looked through the transparent walls in FS9 I realized that I was seeing the external walls of adjoining objects (that appear to be untextured)I assumed that MAKEMDL does not allow FS9 to waste clock cycles texturing completely enclosed surfaces. All well and good so far.I decided to make a clear mask and texture the hidden wallls so that I could see through them and could then decide what could be placed inside (perhaps like a large 2D textured polygon that would (with some parallax effects) look "real".I had only to texture about 20 surfaces and…

I used 888.8 textures for my airport building and I am curious as to what advantage would obtain by my using DXT3 textures, other than perhaps files sizes being smaller? In addition to this I notice that my brick textures sometimes show a Moire pattern in FS9 at certain distances. Am I correct in assuming that this is unavoidable with repetitive patterned textures at a distance?

KMCO opened the new runway 17L/35R and renamed 17/35 to 17R/35L today (12/25/2003). Using my new Airport/Facility Directory S.E., incidently effective 0901Z 25 Dec 2003, I added the new runway, taxiways, and renumbered 17/35 using AFCAD211.I noticed bushes and high tension poles coming through the pavement and running along side of the runway/taxiways. I first used AFW and made an exclude, which eliminated the bushes but not the power poles. I then used Paavo Pihelgas' new exclude tool, which had the same results as the AFW Exclude.bgl. I poles must be autogen as they first show up at Autogen-Normal setting. Does anyone know how to exclude these poles from the airpor…

Hi, I am kind off newbie in scenery design, I know Gmax, so the building design is realy easy for me, but I can't figure out how to create ground textures, both of them, the ones for the whole area and the ones for the airport(taxiways, runway, building contourns and that stuff)Is there a good tutorial, or could someone explain me how to do this??Thanks and ByeAlex Eylerts

I've been using Ground2K4 to modify the area around an airport, and I've run into a couple problems. I'm sure this isn't a fault with Ground2K, but may have to do with the way landclass interacts with VTP2 polys.Ok, here we go:-I didn't like the airport skirting around the airport, so I excluded it - no problem.- I noticed that all the autogen from the underlying landclass was showing through the airport apron - ok, makes sense.- I made a new airport skirting by laying down a VTP2 poly of grass using Ground2K4 - too easy.- The autogen is no longer showing through the apron, since my VTP2 poly is blocking it - wait a minute......All the autogen is gone except som street s…

I am using Terrascene to create BMPs for AutoASM. While that works I was wondering if there is a problem eliminating the existing elements that AutoASM creates? As an example how do I eliminate the "old" roads in the exact area that is covered by my BMP. I suppose that I couls do it with FSSC or Airport but cumulative errors will probably leave either gaps or overlays.Dick Boley KLBE

tonight I did a bit of object hunting...something that I do now and then...always cracks me up when I find my object in a nearby forest glen.Nowadays we use so many tools that sometimes I lose track of an offset or something, and my objects don't show up where expected. My windsock for my new "crest" project was placed with a simple scasm file that calls a macro that calls a library object. LOL I KNEW that object must be displaying...so...it was a matter of hunting in the bushes...and I found it.LOLBob Bernstein

Hi Dick...Well, here's my first Bglcomp produced bgl using the XML example in the SDK doc. My main motive was to confirm that the Oil Rig Helipad surface was indeed HARDENED using the XML code and was indeed NOT HARDENED when using SCASM 2.90 to compile the object. The result is, as you reported:1) Using XML, the helipad is properly hardened.2) Using SCASM 2.90 to call the Oil Rig object as a library Object, the helipad is NOT HARDENED and requires application of an added hardening macro to harden the pad.Again, to my (old fashioned) regret; Score: SCASM=0; XML=1.So it looks like the "Handwriting's on the wall": Run, don't walk to start using Bglcomp/XML for user added…

Using the new xml format for creating scenery, if I create new objects with GMax, we will be able to create GUIDS and add them to a separate object file, or do we need to wait until the MakeMDL file is released, or will we just use a generic naming convention, and point to a generic object file. Just some food for thought.

How can I reduce the number of polygons easily in a shape once it has been made? for example a round fence post might have 12 sides. How can I reduce the cylinder to 4 or 5 sides withought having to make the whole thing again? I want to now an easy way of dong this so that I can alter the LOD settings with different objects. At the moment I'm having to make each object over and over. Is is possible to simplify an existing object easily?ThanksSteve

Hi guysLots of the posts about BGLComp are about trouble with the syntax of the XML code. The biggest problem is understanding 'empty' elements, it seems.A normal element that can contain sub-elements always has the syntax < ... sub-elements ... >Note that one of things that an element can contain is plain text, not enclosed in any <> tag brackets. ThusHere is some textis legal ('well-formed') XML - although this form has no particular use in XML source code for BGLComp. An element that has been defined in the schema as being an 'empty element' (i.e. one that cannot contain sub-elements), however, is normally written with the 'shortcut' syntaxi.e. as a sing…

Would anyone know what the FS9 texture names are for taxiway markings and lines, I have evidently downloaded some add on scenery that has changed these textures. My taxiway markings are no longer yellow, they are white. If anyone knows these file names and what FS9 CD they are on I would sure appreciate the help. Thanks

Forgive me if this question has been asked a thousand times but I found nothing in my search. Is there a way to copy the runway textures from FS9 to another folder and give them a reflective shine like some of the aircraft have? I would like to do this becasue on some days I only fly in rainy weather and I would like to be able to switch to these "wet runway" textures. I dont know how it would look, so if anyone has done this before, my question to you is did the runway look wet or did it just look bad?ThanksRegan
