I am interested in adding one of the Hornet class aircraft carriers from the Midway collection of ships at Netwing into FS2004 to try my hand at getting the MAAM Briefing Time off the deck like the men of the Doolittle raid. Is this a simple task? What tools? Any tutorials or How To docs? Thanks for some guideance and advice. Colin

I have seen a lot of discussion about creating transparent textures, but I am not sure this is the same approach.In CellGrid2004a, the program creates a series of numbered grids over the terrain. hi, I have stumbled onto a way to make perfect lakes on elevated terrain. I covered this area in 1 arc second SRTM mesh and redrew most of the shoreline near PAKT ketchikan Alaska. Since pics dont last long, ill try to explain it. This area has lakes at all different elevations from 30m to 800m. They are usually crammed into a mountain valley, and just drawing them in G2k4 and praying was not working. I would get sharp cliffs if it wasnt perfectly aligned with my mesh.so I came up with this idea. If i make a flat plane it would act as the water level and i could see where the shoreline belongs. Working my way through the "Ground2k for beginners" download, I can do most everything very easily, but I do not have an active VTP1 radio button. When I create a new object and get the dialog box shown here, the VTP1 button is grayed out. Is this something I created or are VTP1's no longer available?

What freeware program is a good start to develop fs9 sceneries? I want if there is one that i can import a runway or an afcad file and add a scenery starting with the local airport area and extend it to the city.Thanks.

I used Defarea to delete a line of Utility Poles for the new runway at Orlando International (KMCO). It is interesting to note that I had to use Layer 004 (Rivers) to remove the poles. Of course, it also remove a small stream that was running perpendicular to the line of poles.I also couldn't get Defarea to automatically create the *.bgl. It said BGLC.exe couldn't be found. BGLC.exe was in the folder with Defarea.exe. No matter, I just dragged the *.asm file over BGLC.exe to compile.W. Sieffert

Hi all, I used to have a small utility that would allow you to sort the Scenery.cfg file to get rid of some of the mixed-up number sequences. I have managed to loose it and do not remember the file name! Does this sound familiar to anyone?? I have searched around without success. Any help would be appreciated.

Been out of the loop for quite a while. Now that I've done some stuff with FSDS2, how do I place it. It was an easier process with ASD and Architect. It was all done visually after importing the .bgl's. I gather FS9 doesn't work with these older programs. How do you guys place your buildings and terminals? Any new programs out that will display the default scenery?CH

Hello, I have downloaded FSSC and I worked around it almost the whole sunday...but I have a problem: when I export the file who I'm working on, I can find this scenery in the sceneries' list but I can't find the airport's name (LICS in my case...it's a fantasy ID since this airport doesn't exist in the real world) in the airports' list. If I start a simulation I can land on it, I can see it but its name isn't showed among the airports. Why so? If it's useful for you to understand the problem, the ID of the airport is "LICS", the name of the airport is "Casale sul Sile" and the city is "Treviso". I can't seem to figure out how to adjust dashed parking lines. They always seem to run over into the grass area even though the appear to be positioned fine in AFCAD. Also, when two parking spaces are in close proximity to each other lines tend to be unequal in length and tend to curve on top of each other as shown in the pic. Any help would be appreciated.rich@klew

Hi, I did a search but came up empty. I cannot exclude the red and white radio towers with g2k. I read of a similar issue with road signs. Will a scasm exclude kill it? I dont know much about scasm, so any hints welcome.thanksjoe

After the recently release of the BGLCOMP SDK I started my 'GA AI Traffic generator' project. Part of this project is to examine every airport BGL file (Stock and usermade) and count the numbers/types of GA parking places. The programm should be able to manipulate the GA traffic at airport level up to global world settings. For showing airport data I tried to read the ICAO (called identifier in the SDK) of the airport BGL. But there is a problem, MS used 4 Bytes to store the 5 charcters you could use for the identifier. I found that they use only capatials and numbers, so they could use a 7 Bit code. But if I loock with a hexeditor I couldn't identify the coding MS did. I…

Hi guys, I have created new mesh with 1arcsec SRTM I have created new shorelines with G2K4 the area I have been working on is big, but not as big as the default area. my problem: The default lakes are not in the right places and the cut into my new mesh. Even if i use the G2k4 exclude. The shorelines go, but the elevation/cut into my mesh remains. I used LWM viewer to remove the default area, but this area is HUGE. There's no way i can cover that ammount of area. my question: How can I remove the default lake/shorline elevations so they dont effect my new mesh, but not remove them from outside my working area? the butter: thanks to all you guys, and Christian and Dick for…

Hi. I have some troubles in my scenery. The first it's with the light map. The texture of the VTP2 polys are not visible.I'm sure that the texture that i'm using have light map. Are texture of citie (104 and 121).In the fs look's like a texture not foud, I did not see a day texture in shadow.The roads are fine! The other trouble is with the VPT2 polys when using the Airport/Park textures.The poly is not visible but works fine if I change to LandClass. Can anyone help please?I have tried to install the latest ground 2k version but when I run the exe file I get the following message"Cannot find the file G:ground2K4_v52SETUP.EXE(or one of its components) check to ensure that all required libraries are available."I am using ground 2k v3.04 but cannot load on anything higher than this. Hi everyone, for the past couple of days i have been trying to make my own scenery and airport. I am using afcad to make the airport and gmax to build some of the buildings. I can get them to show up where i want them to in fs but i have a couple of problems. I dont know how to make the ground level so the runway isnt in mid air some parts and undergound in other parts. Also how can i edit the ground textures to how i want them to look for my airport? Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks,Evan

Is there away of getting a consistent colour with a polygon which faces the sun and one that faces away from the sun. I've made a bush in Gmax with two polygons at 90 degrees to each other. When the sun is low in the horizon, one polygon is darker than the other.ThanksSteve
