Good morning,Taking some time of AFCAD I downloaded the BGLCOMP from Microsoft more ftom curiosity to see some staff about XML.After reading the SDK I tryied to make bgl the exmple in the SDK document but nothing happend, I figured I have made something wrong so I tryied to make bgl the two xml which are in the directory Chelan.xml and MortonWa. All three attempts at dos promt gane the following error.INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR C1003: Failed to create MSXML object! I am working on an AFCAD for Fairbanks, Alaska. The default airport is not correct and does not include runway 1R/19L which is 6,500 ft long and 100 ft wide (the default r/w 1R/19L is in reality runway 1/19 - a 3,500 ft gravel strip). The water/ski strip is slightly misaligned but I have that corrected.I have the runway showing as well as the extended Taxiway C. The problem I'm having is that both the runway and taxiway run over a pretty deep gulch. I need to flatten the area surrounding the runway and taxiway. How can I accomplish this?Additionally, I need to exclude some trees that are now in the middle of the taxiway! How can I do this?Steve Lewis

I've created 2 new runways with AFCAD at an airport that already exists in FS9. Basically I saved the existing bgl and created a new scenery with it at a higher priority in FS.I added all the information needed for the runways, ie, ILS, Ident, Frequency, etc. I compile the XML file and have no errors and all is fine. I then run the database for FSNav to search the new bgl for the information and it updates properly, no issues there.I then go to FS9 and with the new scenery activated I check from within FSNav for the new runway information. The new runways show up on map view no problem, but the ILS cones are not available. This is understandable since when I check the Air…

Ok so I was trying to merge a gmax file into my scenery and something apparently went wrong.. now I get this error when I try to open my scenery file. Is there any solution to get back where I was? The file is still almost 2mb.. I cant believe this! There is an autoback file of it, but it was like a week of work I lost if thats the only solution.. Didnt know you had to save copies upon copies of your file!*beats head on wall*

Hi all,I noticed that using the same width, coastline merges more gracefully with mainland in FS02 than in FS04. I get a lot and a lot of 'voids' in FS04. Probably increasing the coastline width in FS04 will produce better results but I cannot understand why there's such a difference between the two versions.As an aside, I thought I'd ask some of the video card experts in here what card I should go for as I'm about the change my card...What would you guys choose from an Abit, Asus, MSI or ATI?Cheers,Storm

Hi all,I'm in the process of modeling my first scenery object and would like to know if there is a set of guidelines to use in regards to the number of polys in scenery objects? Why do some scenery designers make a HUGE exclude file when they are redesigning a default airport? I like seeing the autogen buildings and trees and sometimes the exclude file is so large, it wipes out the autogen for miles around the airport. Is there a reason for this or is it just at the discretion of the designer? Also is there a way to replace the exclude file with one of my own?Thanks,Ray

Hello,Disclaimer first: :-newbie Would someone be so kind as to clarify for me some questions about FS2002 night textures for buildings, please?Here is my problem: I have a freeware scenery, which has no night textures, so I wanted to create some for the buildings. But I have BGLs and textures only, no scenery source code (except the SCASM files obtained by decompiling). (NOTE: All this is strictly for my own private education; so is the BGL de-compiling which I did. I have no intention of sabotaging the author's excellent and freely available work! HiOkay dumb noobie question I know, however, I follow the tutorial in FSSC 1.5.11 I create some scenery as per the tutorial. I use the wizard to save the file to my fs9 scenery folder, but when as per the tutorial I try and open it in a flight in FS9, then I cannot find it??I can see it in explorer but can't figure how to put it in the right folder or whatever.Any help appreciated.Thanks

hi all,i've successfully used my first working xml/bgl in fs9 with the below xml code - its a refinery near my home airport (forgot the correct lat,lon..doesnt matter anyhow)2 questions:first:i want to place a seconde refinery near the first one - how can i include multiple objects in one code? Dear friendsI released a scenery of solenzara air base (corsica, france).The problem is that if I don't desactivate autogen, I end up with trees on the aprons and taxis(see screen).Is there a way to clear the autogen only in the area? I have just created my first small airport with FSSC and it looks great.However I have perhaps gotten carried away with the amount of objects I have used and even though I have reduced visability distances as far as I dare frame rates suck. Many of the objects I have placed are repeats ( Hedges / Static Caravans in park/ lamposts etc) And I understand it would be better if these were compiled as library objects.I have read a tutorial on converting Gmax objects into libraries but I only have the API macros. Grrr, I got my night lights put in for the ramps, now I am trying to figgure out how to turn them off during the day. I found a post where you edit the .asm source.. but now I'm lost. How do I get this .asm file to turn into a .bgl so I can put it in Flightsim?I have both the blgc.exe and blgcomp.exe, apparently the bglcomp uses xml? I'm so lost.. Can anyone give me the "dummies guide" on how to do this?

Hi All, (rumbaflappy are you there Richard)I'm beginning to get there with my desires to add & change scenery in FS2004. Now that I have properly printed the XML SDK ( I only had fragments when I tried two-sided print from Wordpad), I'm starting to follow it pretty well.The XML SDK has exclusion defs and object defs, etc but it looks like I need LWM stuff for flattens or does an LWM BGL inherently flatten the area under a poly or whatever. So far I think I can place a water poly where I want it with BDLC. How does this tie into XML coding if at all. I am still lost re: landmass, BDLC lines, fills & polys and how these tools and their BDLs tie together. How does …

I had forgotten to include ambient Office_lm night texture in my scenery. I have the texture in my texture folder and had used Imagetool on it. The problem is that I didn't apply the ambient texture when I originally made the scenery in Gmax1.2.Can I go back and do it now? I tried with no luck. Hey guys, just got FSDSV2 and have been playing with it creating mocros, one thing I am finding is that nearly all objects have an issue and I think it is a setting that I need to adjust, but unsure of what or where. When I create a building it will vanish at a certain angle, usually when it is at the very side of the screen. I would get this every now and again, when using EOD or NOVA, but it seems to be the norm with FSDS. I place it using FSSC and have set the density and distance levels at everyone, no change, any ideas? I'm running into a problem in adding night textures to my tower I created. I went throught he tutorial that came with 2002 and took some tinkering with until I got the night textures to work with that since I think it was for v1.0 or 1.1.I have my file names tower.bmp and tower_lm.bmp (both in DXT1). When I export my file from gmax I've tried checking has night textures, light textures and using both, without success of the night textures displaying. Just the day textures show.What I have done.
