    Hello, I need some help with my first scenery.I've created some objects with gmax, made the apis, set up the 'scene' in fssc, and it looks OK in FS2004. Now I would like to add a background image, so I can paint some details in the ground. I'm trying with 'new misc object/background image' but the 'visible in FS' option is always disabled. How can I add this image? Can be done with fssc or i'll need any other tool?also the 'new misc object/flat area' seems to be always disabled, is there a way to use this?thanks guys

    Hi to all,I'm newbie with scenery object adding.I installed an not existing bush airport in FS2004 near my House.I would like to add some airport building,like a little Hangar, and a Small Tower. Starting to read the BGLCOMP content I found in Seattle Tacoma example "name" with a long value to define it.My questions are, since there isn't any explication:wath is "name"?There is a list of those codes or is always the same?If it is a list where is possible to get it?Thanks

    Can some one out their advise which is the best scenery design tool for creating a block of trees and then placing them ontop of the UK VFR scenery base floor.I want to be able to trace the bottom surface of the block so as to match to forrest outline then make this surface a solid block with a given height.Also the scenery design tool to be able to import a single VFR texture tile (once converted to *.bmp) and use this as the template to create the solid block of trees.Finally place inside FS as shown below ,although the scenery tool dosnt have to be capable of doing this as LAGO FSenhancer can do this or MakeBGl SDKthanks

    Greetings Everyone... A friend and I are just about finished with our Scenery design for KPDX Portland, and we have a few pieces of our scenery which I have created in Gmax... For me they run just fine in FS9 but for my friend the 2 Gmax objects cause all of his Autogen to disappear in FS9. Soon as he removes my Gmax bgls his Autogen returns. We are hesitant to release the scenery if these Gmax bgls, tiny as they are, will cause similar Autogen problems to others, yet the pieces are important to our scenery... Sure would appreciate any additional Gmax Makemdl option switch info anyone might have if you have heard of similar situations... I'll attach a pic of the prob…

    Wondering if anybody else has run into this problem...created taxi lights with gmax, gave it an effect for the light and trying to have it off the day. i have no problem with NIGHT=1 command but doesnt seem to allow the DAY=0. matter of fact, with DAY=0 command..lights dont work during any part of day. Thanks in advance for and advice on how to fix this

    I was working on a scenery this morning and by mistake placed a bridge instead of a road in Ground2k4, compiled and went to the temp folder and copied the files to my scenery folder. Started FS9 and I saw I had placed a bridge instead of a road. shut down the sim and returned to Ground2k4 and deleted the bridge and placed a road there. It wasn't but about 10 meters, 30 feet long. saved, compiled and started the sim. Roads there but .... ******* all the Landclass Autogen is gone for that cell. I have done the landclass in Landclass Assistant so it was another file. I don't know what I did but I can't get the landclass autogen back.I have 2 excludes done by the ExcBuilder …

    Greetings again Everyone... Just a quick one here for anyone who might have some experience with CoastlineMaker...I've just started using this wonderful little program and had no problem removing all the default, Roads, Railroads, Highways and Bridges, within the 5 mile area I want to rework.I now have added all the roadways I need with proper widths and single or double lanes...My finished bgl compiled fine and loads ok but many of my new roadways and highways vanish into the default terrain mesh... I have no add-on meshes turned on and this scenery in first in the list.Thanks if anyone has a suggestion...Bob

    OK so April 18th will come a little early this year.I spent all day reading thru the new SDK'sNow can take off from Hornet with a B-25.:-) The Virtual Navy is close to making it a reality.Hmm this picture seems familiar:Hornet is in authentic period camoflage and carries AA guns.Going to be perfect for MAAM's monster B-25! Just ask the Bombadier!Our CFS2 model... converted it since I know so many have been asking.Will be landable and will be able to refuel.Still some more work to do... effects at the bow and stern... lights for night and also some tweaking to do.We will make the anniversary of Doolittle's Raid easy this year!:-wave

    Hi all,I noticed last night while designing some VTP scenery that my FS won't show any bridges, utility lines, road signs, poles, lightpoles, barns, etc, all that new objects...why is that??I know I once fiddled around with that default.xml in autogen. I renamed it...but I also corrected that.So if anyone could tell what your FSAutogen folder consist, it could help me. As I said, I've got only that default.xml file in there.is there a bgl missing?or some kind of terrain.cfg issue??grateful for every hint.GreetsJeff

    Hi, its me again!!Getting ahead in Gmax with help of new tutorial in Gmax SDK. Export of scenery model makes xml and mdl files in a safe folder. Not using an intercept like MDLcommander, just original MAKmdl.exe in Gmax plugins. I can edit xml by changing type to txt, edit for coordinates, etc. and it will compile and make a bgl. Earlier with different model I compiled with BGLcomp, got a bgl and placed it in FS2004Addon sceneryscenery. It didn't show up in FS.I don't understand the mdl file generated by Gmax. It will have the wrong coordinates for me. I have a feeling that the two types are tied together somehow. What do I do to get the new library object to show up a…

    I just give the new SDK a try, then I have made the mdl and the xml file for my scenery (FS9 scenery and the new FS2004 gmax SDK) I just drag and drop the *.xml file into the bglcomp.exe cmd window opens quickly then it close. and NO bgl file has been made so what Im doing wrong here?? I made the same thing as I do before (with old bglcomp)./burner

    I'm having a problem with FS9 not loading photographic terrain textures, eventually, no textures are loaded. Is this a problem with FS9 or is it my set up?I created a flight with the autopilot set for 20000ft, 300kts on a heading of 180. The scenery was refreshed at the beginning of the flight. Below are a series of shots showing the progression of how the scenery was unloaded and loaded. The second last was when I refreshed after all tiles had disappeared and the last one shows that the total memory used was about 550Mb.     Maybe I'm stupid, but I don't think so. I am a trying to understand what has been written here about BGLCOMP and creating IFR approaches, but I find it very difficult. I have been using a combination of AFCAD and FS Scenery Creator to create a completely new airport from scratch. I am very happy with my work so far, everything works just fine, but I don't have any IFR approaches.I have some simple questions about this:1. Is it at all possible to create IFR approaches to an already existent airport (the one I have created using other programs) using XML files and BGLCOMP?2.     hi,I downloaded the filename in the subject line from MS along with the new scenery SDK. Gmax_setup is a game pack for Gmax. At least now I can export a mdl file. I made a poor model and exported it to desktop. Then moved it to my BGLcomp folder and it compiled. Changed its extension to txt and found I can edit and compile. (It dosn't show up in FS however) - that is not my question.The SDK also has a *.doc tutorial. I don't have MS Word but do have Wordstar V11. WS opens the doc file but either it has a problem with most BUT NOT ALL of the illustrations in the file. (I can't even find it right now!)     Hi,I am trying to fix the Norfolk-Virginia Beach area. I have succesfully added some roads, but can't seem to sucessfully create polygons. I have been following the beginners tutorial, but all of my new coastlines and a small island in the Chesapeake Bay show up as white lines with nothing inside (just the water background). I am designating a land class (rock for the island).I am sure I must be missing something obvious. Can anyone help? Thanks.Craig

    Hi Chaps,Has anyone got the light_nav etc, tags to work with the new version of MakeMDL/BGLComp for scenery? Also, I used to use a double sided texture on a single plane as a safety net fo my helidecks, with a transparency set in GMAX at about70%. This texture won't show at all now in FS... I'm guessing that the new export procedure doesn't like/won't recognise DS_whatever.bmp any more... or doesn't like the transparency setting in GMAX, Any thoughts?CheersAlun

    I'm designing an AFCAD2 file for KSNA. I downloaded some great SNA scenery, but when I install my AFCAD file, it puts on the default buildings as well as the d/ed scenery. How do I fix this?I fly into John-Wahne semi frequently, but I never paid too much attention to which airlines park where and also what the different taxiway surfaces are made of. I know Delta parks at gates 12 & 14 but thats about it. (needless to say I fly Delta). If anyone could answer all these questions please do. (I live about 2000 mi away so I can't just go there anytime I want) Thanx.

    A friend of mine sent me a .fsc file for his CFS2 pre WW2 Lexington Carrier. I loaded it into FSDS2.24 and created a .bgl which I loaded into FS2004. It worked and shows where it should just off Long Beach, Ca. Thanks to some great support from this forum I managed to creat a .xml file and compile it with bglcomp.exe (after I learned how to write command lines) and successfully added a hardened carrier deck. I have one problem left to solve before I texture this project; at certain angles a good chunk of the carrier seems to go invisible. The carrier is pointing north and if I view it fron 270 to 360 all but the horizontal surfaces disappear. From 0 to 270 everythin…

    Hi,For TMF scenery (landclasses, meshes, ... ) each data point coincides with the grid of the LOD system. So, for example, a LOD5 landclass BGL has 257x257 entries and each of these entries is centered, so to speak, on a LOD13 grid. In the following picture the crossing blue lines represent the LOD13 grid and the class textures are centered on them.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/63855.jpgBut, on LWM masks (and also on VTP polygons and lines), points have coordinates that range from 0x0 to 255x255.
