Hi I have a problem that is slowly driving me round the bend.I am using Ground2K4 v5.1 and I am starting to get problems. The size of the LWM file is at 3,895K and still growing but nearly there.Using WinXp Prof 512 Meg memThe things I get are.1 While compilling, system crashed back to reboot or sometime just a message to say That an error has occured and Ground2K4 will have to close. Have checked the error log and this is what it records."Faulting application ground2k4.exe, version 5.1.0.0, faulting module oleaut32.dll, version 3.50.5014.0, fault address 0x00002b65."2. Some times while compiling, the progress box stops updating but everything compiles correctly.( the sto…

Hi there,I've been having a bit of trouble with creating concave VTP2 polygons. This is something I just recently noticed, so perhaps it is a by-product of the most recent update of Ground2K. Basically, the concave part of the poly seems to be getting closed off, which is not what I want. Please refer to my pictures for a better explanation as to my troubles. In the first picture, I have created the polygon. The part circled in black is the problem area - there are others too, but this is the major one.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/56628.jpgIn the second picture, we see the results as they appear in FS2004. Notice that the concave part is closed up, and does not …

This may be "old hat" to you veteran designers, but I founda great resource that Im using to update bill molloys Atlantascenery for my own uses. http://www.skyscrapers.comThis site has individual pictures, and dimensions of specific buildings in various cities worldwide. It was incredibly helpfulto me in identifying by name some buildings here in Atlanta andmay be helpful to you also.Eric

Longtime ago I saw discussion about rendering Terrascene at 4.8 m/pixel in old forum. But now I cannot access old forum. Please someone explain how to "force" Terrascene to render at 4.8m/pix . I think terrascene is only way for VFR Scenery since I cannot afford Orthophoto for my project.I use terrascene 2.1 and have no problem render at default 7.5 m/pixel.Thank in advance.

I'm currently messing with the FX files and trying to setup an effect that will only be visible at night . In FS2002 SDK (SpecialEffects_SDK), they mentionned we can do that by adding some parms using BGLPLACER . I don't know if it worked in FS2002 , but it is not in FS2004 . When i try to add an effect with such parm, the effect does'nt show at all . If i remove the parm (Day=0; ) , then i can see the effect but all the time - including the day.So the question is , how to prevent an effect to show in daylight in FS2004 ?Thanks for your help . See the attach pictures ...

First of all please excuse my lack of experience with modifying Msoft FS.I currently have FS2002 with a number of commercially produced UK scenery add ons which I use extensively to practice instrument approaches for my real life simulator checks. My problem is that on some airfields (UK), some of the NDBs, ILs, DMEs etc are either wrong or missing. Bearing in mind my complete lack of experience is there an easy way to modify/add them?Would I be correct in saying that this can be done with FS2004, using a microsoft editor?Help!!!

I thought I would go back to Ground2k's latest version and see if I can make a simple little bump in my terrain well away from an airport flatten. I figured a LOD8 100 meter bump would be visible :-) so I did one, then a cluster of four or five, and hit the bgl icon. A popup window flashed too quickly to read, and no bgl was to be found on all 80G of my hard drive.Has anyone actually created a remesh bgl with this program? It seemed to me an absurdly simple task to raise a single or a few LOD8 squares 100 meters. If someone HAS been successful, could I have the LAT/LONs you remeshed and I will try the same ones. Here are the only two files from my target folder........000…

I am trying to make some very small 'paint' alterations to a scenery texture file.If I open it in MS-Paint it shows as a white square. If I open it with Imagetool, I see the proper 'view', but there are seven 'tiles', and I would like to be able save it/them in a format that I could play with in Paint, and resave them back into the standard flightsim .bmp format.Essentially, I am looking for a step-by-step example of how I can read/modify/write the scenery file. I have to admit that I am very much a novice when it comes to scenery design, what with Mip-mapping, Alpha channels and the various texture formats etc.Can anyone point me in the right direction?ThanksDavid

Hi there!I am using Ground2K (the latest version) to correct some coastlines and position of lakes in the northern part of Sealand / Denmark. But I have noticed that my new coastlines are being "ignored" by the map view and the GPS in FS2004.Is there a way to force the sim to see the new coast? What if I was to make an island and it never could be seen on the map?I will try to attach a few pictures to illustrate the problem.Best regardsKim Dahl

Hi all.I've put together a tool to display the FS2004 LWM files, as an aid to designers. It's still very much under development, but it can already help with showing where add-on scenery will have problems with the default FS2004 lakes/rivers/airport flattens. Locations are given as lat/long as well as the area and cell IDs.I'm looking at adding support for FS2004 VTP files, but haven't decoded the entire file format yet. If anyone has information on this, I'd appreciate a look.Download at http://www.jimkeir.co.uk/LWMViewer.zip . Controls are simple: keypad +/- for zooming, click or keypad arrows for scrolling around, keypad 5 to recenter and reset zoom.Regards,Jim Keir.

When I use the gmax material navigator to assign a texture to an object it does not appear in the simulator although the texture appears in gmax. If I apply a texture using the gmax material editor, the texture appears both in the simulator and in gamx. How can I use the gmax material navigator to apply my textures and have them appear in FS?ThanksSteve

I'm adding Comms, TaxiwayPoints and TaxiwayParking within Frequency="121.85" Type="GROUND" Name="CXTX GROUND"/> index="1" type="NORMAL" lon="-95.0599" lat="28.8924"/> index="11" lon="-95.06145" lat="28.88346" heading="340.000" radius="35.000" type="RAMP_MIL_COMBAT" name="PARKING" number="2" pushback="BOTH"/> Hope you can see what I mean without my including loads of unnecessary code.Without any of these 3 elements the file compiles but with any of the 3 in (ie they are all unacceptable individually) it will not.I'm knackered now :( and it's late here yet again so I've gotta give up for today, but does anyone have any ideas?I'd be SO grateful

OK folks, this code compiles and works although I've deleted some repetitive bits where indicated to save space. It's an imaginary airport in the sea on an elevated 'island' off Houston.<?xml version="1.0"?> ***** Further TaxiwayPoints deleted ***** ***** Further TaxiwayParkings deleted ***** ***** Further TaxiwayPaths deleted ***** ***** Further TaxiNames deleted ***** Some things to note. When you add taxiway points and parkings, unless you connect them all up with taxiway paths, FS9 will not start (crashes to d/top while opening). Also, unless you allocate taxi names (which can be null ie "") AI aircraft cannot taxi and will disappear at engine…
