I'm looking for some help for a Dash 8-400 taxi speed problem. Curious if there are entries in the aircraft .cfg that could help this problem. With engines at near idle and props levers fully forward, the aircraft wants to taxi at 30+ miles and hour. If I pull the throttles to idle, that aircraft slowly comes to a stop. So its either 30+ or 0 on the taxi speed. The high idle/shut off levers do not seem to have any affect other than shutting down the engines. Are there any settings in the .cfg that would slow down the taxi speed but have no affect in flight. Thanks, SD

While doing some research, Google brought up photos of an aircraft I have never heard of before - The Curtiss Auto-Plane from 1927.I did a file search and could not find any previous FS file for it, but it looks like it would be a fun project for any one willing to tackle it. Aircraft performance is anyone's guess.Good luck!

Hello,I am starting to make aircraft for FSX with Abacus FS Design Studio. I have started planning for a few aircraft. If anyone would like to request an FSX aircraft, please feel free to do so below. Note, however, that it is not guaranteed that exactly all of the aircraft requested will be made.

Hello guys i need some help in order to do some things with the default fsx a321 vc model. i have used the " mdlview " utility and i have open the " Airbus_A321_interior " to see how this cockpit is done but the thing i want to to is to open this in a design program like autocad or gmax e.t.c. in order to do some modifications. I have heard that if some model has converterd to fsx format there is no way to convert it back again so you can edit it but i think it must be a way to do this. Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.

After struggling for some time with many of the fs9gps variables and searching the forums for documentation of their use, often in vain, I attempted to fill the gap. What started out as notes on a spreadsheet grew into something more resembling a guidebook, “FS9GPS Module”. It’s a collection of ‘notes to myself’ on the use of the gps module, definitions and examples of its 320 variables, and explanations of the principals of some xml coding techniques such as ICAO Transfer and Cycle Skipping that are used when working with the FS9 gps.dll module. For those interested, it can be downloaded from the BlackBox website:BlackBox Website - GPS GuidebookHope you enjoy it!Regards, …

  7. Hi one and all ...hoping somebody could put me on the straight and narrow with the following: I recently installed Holger Maas's Airport Chart Utility gauge (apchart.zip) to my copy of FSX.Anybody else who has it will I'm sure agree what a useful tool it is and a good substitute for the 'purple/pink line that shows the route to the runway" and the couple of payware options out there. The default activation of the gauge is via the views menu and is a little cumbersome and not terribly realistic. My question is would it be possible to activate it via an icon inserted in the VC panel ofwhatever aircraft, and how would one do this? David 'Opa' Marshall has in circulation a l…

Hi there, I really to like the QW 757 only to a certain extent though. The model is stunning and the flight dynamics are too. Its just the panel and functions what lets it down, as only the "essential" items works in the panel. So as anyone merged the CS 757 panel with QW 757 aircraft yet? If so are FPS still friendly? And does it work efficiently E.g without any bugs? Cheers, Tom W

First the goal, I want to create a non-working (hooked to FS9) gauge than simulates a Foster 511 RNAV device. All I want is to simulate the input thumbwheel switches using mouse clicks and vertical sliding mask. The following code segments illustrate I think the basic idea however they don't work. Using Blackbox2 to observe the L:RNAV_WP1_BEARING variable in segment 1 and the G:Var1 variable in segment 2. My question is why do these code segments work differently and what is the trick to getting the number strip to move up and down? A second question is how do I limit the range to 0 to 9 when incrementing/decrementing?I'd really appreciate some help (HINT, HINT Arne Barte…

EGGL with char1,2,3, and 4.But how to set EGLL so, that it is readable in (@c:FlightPlanAlternateAirportIdent) and then retrieve the other alternate variables?Jan

Greetings, I am working on a new configuration file for an aircraft for my own personal use, I would like to know if the fuel/range ratio sounds realistic. Aircraft Specs: Length: 95 FT, height 18.9 FT, overall wingspan: 55 FT, empty weight: 45,200 lbs, maximum takeoff: 109,775, maximum fuel 8900 gals/59,630 lbs, 2 Engines/Thrust: 30,000 lbs (each). I have the plane setup for an altitude of 40,000 FT, with a speed of Mach 2.25 with a range of 3,850 NM (ISA/SL/MTOW). Does this sound realistic, or a little far fetched? I'm not sure what other specifications that are needed, so let me know for more information. As I said earlier this is for my own personal use, and I don't…

With apologies because this isn't about sd2gauXX at all but I had to get your attention(s) somehow. Some of you have attempted to email me at [email protected] recently; please be aware that this account has been deleted. Someone got compromised and that address was on their list - subsequently it was spoofed for sending a rather large amount of spam. You don't want to see some of the responses I got. Most of them betrayed a complete lack of understanding on how email addressing works but I can understand the anger.Consequently, if you have my address stored can you please substitute co dot uk for the original suffix as that address does work.Again, thank you…

HiI am working on a project, in which I want a few complex aircraft controls (i.e. NAV2_RADIO_FRACT_DEC, or COM_STBY_RADIO_WHOLE_INCREASE ) to be executed on a single keypress.I was thinking about creating a gauge (or using the radio gauge itself) to "enslave" a key to execute that function, but I'm having a little trouble with it.My testing gauge for now is the nav lights gauge, to which I added a few lines after the <Mouse> event it had (that still works), but It doesn't work as it is (my guess: wrong code..ups) <Mouse> <Help ID="HELPID_GAUGE_LIGHT_SWITCH_NAV"/> <Cursor Type="Hand"/> <Click Event="TOGGLE_NAV_LIGHTS"/> &lt…

Hi allMaybe already known?Whilst working on my FMC scratchpad I needed to change number characters to values.Found string operater "val" worked. So with a concatenated chr number string it Converts number strings to integer and floating point values that accept usual FS manipulation.Only tested so far in FS9 and missing from the SDK.

I wonder if anyone can say why, when I add gauges to certain 3rd. party panels, they will show on flight startup and then may (or may not) disappear after having opened then closed another window. I have to reload the a/c to get them back. How to I fix things so that they always show?Thank you,Martin

Hello guys,I'm afraid i got a bit lost on the citation AOA gauge. This particular gauge is a 'clock style' gauge. The scale goes from 0 (which is an angle of attack of 0) to 1, which is an angle of attack of 17 degrees (at which point the aircraft will stall). The calculation for this is very simple: AOA/ 17 is what the meter should point to. Sounds easy, should be easy, but i cannot get this to work . :-hmmm So this is the current code of the gauge: ((A:INCIDENCE ALPHA, degrees) 17 /)%((A:INCIDENCE ALPHA, degrees) 17 /)%!4.2f!Note that the 2nd element is just there for testing purposes, it shows the AOA/ 17 in exact numbers, so i can check if the arrow points to the righ…

Hi,I'm new to panel.cfg edits and been trying to find a way to do something pretty simple for a couple hours... beside going the trial-and-error-load-reload-edit-load-reload-edit............ way, I can't seem to underestand the relation between my screen resolution, size_mm, window_size, gauge size etc...What I want to do is simple, I want to add a detachable radar PUP for my F-18, showing the radar (which is in fact an XML gauge).I can display the popup allright, it's even showing the radar, no problem, but the gauge is supposed to be perfectly square and no matter what I try, I can't get it to display perfectly square!:( I've read the ESP SDK documentation but this is n…

  21. Hello againI am making a gauge (in XML) and I would like to be able to check if it is visible as a 2D popup. The problem is that the gauge also appears in the virtual cockpit so using the <update hidden="no"> command won't work as From a brief read of the SDK it appears that C gauges can use the is_panel_window_visible_ident function. It would be really nice if there was a similar function in XML but if there is I can't find it which is why I am asking the question. It may be that I have to write a C gauge just to check the panel window is visible and then transfer that value back to xml. Thanks in advance for any info.

...can anyone help?"I just need help with one thing in the integration of vasFmc with the dash 8 Q400.Since the dash 8 panel does not have a LNAV button, is there a way to switch between FMC lateral guidance and manual headings WITHOUT using the airbus FCU.I was thinking along the lines of adding a custom LNAV button that does just that. But don't know how. Thanks!"If anyone can help or if this is the wrong forum, please let me know.

I am interested in designing 2d cockpits for fs9. I'm very new to this and have done some reading up on xml coding. I guess my first question is, how do you download photo real panels into bmp's so they are crisp and full screen? Also, I'd like to get side views, upper etc... Do I need photoshop to do this, or can I use paint? I looked on airliners.net for some cockpit views and downloaded them; however, they don't seem to be the right size. I hope somone can help me with this or guide me into the right direction. Thanks.

Hello allI was wondering if anyone new of an easy way to display only the first 12 characters of a string. I know the hard way would be to create a loop and output a character at a time but I'd like to try to avoid that if I could.I'm trying to output to screen a GPS waypoint frequency name ( %((@c:WaypointAirportFrequencyName))%!s! in the code snippet below). The problem is that on rare occasions this string can be rather long and can end up messing up the tabs in the rest of the line and thus messing the formatted text. I was hoping there would be an easy command that would just return the first 12 (or whatever number i enter) characters. I tried %!12s! but that just fi…
