I have a basic FSX math question...What's the best way to drop significant digits?I have a number with six digits and want to drop the last two...and reduce the precision.13579.321 -> 13600.000(L:myVar,number) 100 / near 100 *This works, and I use it, but it seems like a lot of trouble(L:myVar,number) 100 divdiv doesn't round the answer...so it won't doIs there a shortcut to do this?Danny

Speaking of oddities in FS's XML Math, I've run across a very, V E R Y strange problem that's been vexing me for several days......or more accurately more like two months!I have an "old school" COM radio that uses mechanical "drums" for the display. They all work perfectly except for the "tenths digit," and it only misbehaves whenever the base frequency is at or above 128.000, and even then only when the 100'ths and 1000'ths fractions are "00."IOW, if they are .025, .050, or .075 the 10'ths digit behaves itself. If they are .000 however, whenever .800 is selected, the 10'ths digit will roll back to .700, even though the actual frequency remains 128.800!!!!!!!!!!BTW, the a…

Hi, please tell me if this question is in the wrong sectionAnyway, here's my issue: As you know at VHHX aircraft land with a final turn, and in FSX I have a scenery which tells AI aircraft to fly that way. However some aircraft fly nice and straight down the middle of the approach while others fly way to the left in an unrealistic fashion. There's even a 737 that flies up and down and touches ground inside some houses. (would like to post a video I've recorded but cannot upload it)The manual of this scenery states that this behavior is coded inside the Aircraft.cfg file, and it is also intended to simulate the usage of different procedures at the real VHHX airport. But I wa…

I've been away from flight simming for a while, and have just returned to find that ESP has been resurrected as Prepar3d.The last time I was looking at updating some of my old FS2004-era planes to FSX I was stumped by some hurdles including how to get Max assets converetd to MDLs, and how to tweak AIR files.I got as far as finding out about ESP right that the moment MS dropped it; I resigned myself to waiting for MS Flight to appear.I've just found the Prepar3d SDK, and also read, with relish, that the modelling tools now support Max2012!Can the Prepar3d SDK create FSX-compatible MDL files?Does the Prepar3d SDK allow the in-depth customization of AIR files that ESP seemed…

I've been wanting to spice things up in my dreamfleet 727 with adding a removable yoke. While I feel this addon is leagues better than the aging captian sim 727, however, I do miss the visual of having a yoke in the 2D cockpit. I was hoping someone could give me some instruction on how to create this. Heres what I do have;A picture of the yoke I want to use for my 727(Not cropped yet)Photoshopand fspanel studio,I thought it was going to be much simplier than i'm finding it to be, and have only used panel studio for some minor things before. So to any of you who have done this before I would greatly appreciate some assistance with this.Regards,d.

Hi everyone. I'm trying to model a B1900D and I'm running into a common problem that I have. I'd like to figure this one out so it isn't as time consuming in the future. I have the TCDS info for the PT6A-67D as well as the prop data/weight. I set the .cfg entries the best I can as well as records 510, 511, 512, 1501-1507. They don't have any real great departure from the default King Air 350 besides using the data for the different engine: i.e.: max torque, prop diameter, beta angles and such. I'm not too familiar with the 509 and 1508 tables but I tweak to get the proper torque and HP.The problem is that as I'm cruising along at 25000', I need full power and set th…

How do I get an autopilot from another aircraft to replace the one in the other aircraft? I know it can be done. I've edited the panels, I can get the autopilot up, but I can't get it to engage. I've looked for the obvious things, but can't work it out.Any suggestions? Thanks.

I was working on the FSX default A321 aircraft. By default, the chronometer is not visible and it is displayed/hidden when the CHRONO button is pressed, this works fine. For specific reasons, I changed the panel.cfg and I set the visibility flag to 1 (visible=1) to have the chronomter displayed when the aircraft is loaded. But this just didn't work... Visibility is set to 1 but the chrono window does not appear as it should. I really don't understand why...Any idea? Thanks,Eric

Hi ...i have the Aerosoft Piper Cheyenne and would like to replace the default Trimble GPS with a more user-friendly alternative. I have in mind the FS2X WAAS freeware gauge visiblein the VC, but have no experience of working with panels. I've contacted the gauge designer and he is of the opinion the install should be possible. I went back to him and asked if, givenhis knowledge of panels and my lack of same he would mind making the necessary changes to the cfg for me but he has not replied. If it is indeed possible to install the gauge in the VC could one of you wizardson this forum give me some help?Any suggestions appreciated ...Alan D Kerr

Hello,I am currently learning how to make aircraft for FSX with FSDS. Once I can make some good models, I am thinking of creating a freeware and maybe payware FS add-on company. I might also make some models FS2004 compatible. Feel free to state the name of some planes you'd like to see in the virtual skies, and the type of aircraft.

Does anyone know where I can find gauges for FS9 or FSX like these? They are in a real Piper Warrior III diesel plane. They are the AED 125 SR and CED 125 gauges by Thielert. Thanks, Bob.

I am trying to get the airport ICAO to show on my takeoff data card. I am able to get XML A:var etc via the execute_calculator_code but getting information via the fs9_gps is proving difficult. I know it is something I am doing wrong, but what ?The CodePCSTRINGZ icao;FLOAT64 FSAPI icao_string_cb (PELEMENT_STRING pelement ){ execute_calculator_code("(C:fs9gps:WaypointAirportICAO,string)",NULL,NULL,&icao); sprintf (pelement->string,"%04.0f", icao); return icao;}This then gives me one compile error: C2440: 'return' : cannot convert from 'PCSTRINGZ' to 'FLOAT64'Take the icao from return adding 0 and it compiles but as expected returns 0 in FS. I have tried different sp…

Hi all,I am currently creating an autopilot for the Panavia Tornado. with the real aircraft when you select THROT the datum is set as the IAS at the point of selecting. You can then increase / decrease the IAS by 30 knots. This is where i am stuck hoe can this be achieved.Image of my AutopilotDisplay Code for IAS (KCAS) [code//------------------- KCAS Display<Element> <Position X="600" Y="65"/> <Text X="150" Y="100" Length="3" Font="LCD" FontHeight="34" FontWeight="700" Color="#FF0000" Adjust="Center" VerticalAdjust="Center" Multiline="No" Luminous="1"> <String>%((>L:AP_AIS_HOLD_VAR, knots) (A:Autopilot airsp…

Hi all,Can someone point me to the parameter that I can use to reduce the climb when the spoilers are deployed? The CLS DC-10-30 airliner wants to go up when the spoilers are out rather than slow down. Is this something easy to adjust or does it involve the .air file, or is it in the model itself? I did not see anything obvious in the aircraft.cfg so I guess it'r probably not that easy. Thanks in advance...

Hi,Not sure if this is the correct topic, but it was the closest I could find.My 737 800 VC in FSX is not displaying properly. All gauges are there and display OK, but the actual panel surrounding them is all black. It appears to only have been an isue since I installed the ARNZ Skin for the 737 800. I have since removed this and changed the aircraft.cfg back to it's original but am still having the problem. Also, for some unknown reason, when I start a flight, all engines are now off. Not sure if it is related or not, but seems strange that it happened at the same time.Any suggestions, or tips would be greatly appreciated.Image attachedHappy flying,Ian
