Hi, I've got a question and I thought this would be the place to ask it. Heres the setup. I've been flying the Carenado 172N using Airhauler. Airhauler uses the reference airspeeds in the aircraft.cfg file to trip an overspeed warning. While flying the 172 at an indicated airspeed of 110 with a 25kt tailwind I get the overspeed warning even though I'm not putting the airframe under stress above 110kts. In this situation I can be showing 110 indicated and 135 or so ground speed and get the warning. Heres the question. Is there anyway to list the reference airspeeds in the cfg file as indicated rather than true. It seems like the true is read off of ground spe…

Hi gents. I have an aircraft that tends to move sideways after i complete a turn. for example, as i make a right turn from base to final, the aircraft continues moving left sideways though im wings level. This happens in zerowind situations. I know its something in the flight model. I see this alot with some wilco aircraft. I wonder is there a way to tighten this up. The effect causes you to s turn down final as you adjust to track centerline.

Good Morning all. I am attempting to learn about panel designs and more specifically windows. I have attempted to install two extra windows which are a 'Standby PFD' and 'CRJ-700' radio windows onto the default 737-800 panel. Problem is when I attempt to open the window, the PFD flashes onto the screen for a split second and disappears, and the CRJ-700 radio panel comes up, but only as a black square. It is the right size, but it is blank. Here is the code. Can anyone assist, and if so, educate me so I don't bother you with the same problem again. The added windows are 14 & 15. This is not a pure default panel, as I am using a retrofit ISGSIM FMS package. …

I'm content enough with the progress I've made - much thanks to many developers from here stearing me in the right direction, especially Jan - that I've decided to post my code for custom map symbols on a navigation display. Here is what I use for airports: <Element> <Visible>@NDARPTVIS</Visible> <FormattedText X="100" Y="70" Font="Calibri" FontSize="20" Color="#0080B0" Adjust="Left" Bright="Yes"> <String> %(0 (>@c:NearestAIRPORTCurrentLine))%((@c:NearestAIRPORTCurrentIdent))%!s! %((@c:NearestAIRPORTCurrentDistance,nmiles) (L:ND-RNG-FACTOR,number) * (>L:ND-ARPT-DST0,number) (@c:NearestAIRPORTCurrentTrueBearing,degrees) (>L…

    Hello all, When i enter 125125 as comm freq i get 125.130 as a result. When i enter 125122 as comm freq i get 125.125 a result. 125127 gives 125.130 as result. Here's the code (L:DataEntry, number) 1000 / 100 * near 10000 % d 10 % r 10 / int d 10 % r 10 / int d 10 % r 10 / int 16 * + 16 * + 16 * + (> K:COM_RADIO_SET) How can i get this code right to show the freq i enter e.g. 125125 should result in 125.125 and 126126 should result in 126.126 Hope someone can help me out! Greetings Slammer

Hi all, I haven't done any sort of under the hood changes to panels and cfg files in FSX except to add freeware aircraft into my SimObjects folder when adding aircraft and repaints, so I'm wondering if anyone can help! Recently I have been trolling the net looking for an FSX version of the Lockheed L1011 Tristar, now as I like to fly solely from the virtual cockpit, I was looking for something with a nicely detailed cockpit and with functionality. The Perfect Flight version didn't do it for me, the cockpit wasn't realistic enough. Oh how the likes of PMDG and A2A spoil us these days. Anyway I came across the EuroAtlantic Lockheed L1011 Tristar by Ricardo_tv which …

Is there any source for lettered icons similar to the default Simicons? I am looking for some with the letters from A to Z. I have them for numbers from 0 to 9. I have tried drawing them but they don't look as good as the default Simicons. Thanks, Bob.

I use Win7-64. When I look in the FS9.1 gauges folder I cannot get the "File Version" or "Product Version" of each .gau to show up in the list of gauges. Is this normal? If I look in the FSX gauges folder the "File Version" and "Product Version" are shown for the .dll gauge files ok (see screenshot ,far right side).

  9. Hi Folks. I'm fairly new to designing my own panels, and I seem to have come up against something that has stopped me dead in my tracks. I really hope that someone can help me, or at least help me stop banging my head against my desk! I'm trying to create a 2D main panel using a photograph for the background. (Panel is for the Virtavia Martin Mars - really love the plane, really hate the existing VC & 2D panels.) I've been fairly successful in most aspects & it almost looks great. Except the background bitmap. While in FSX, it appears to have colour banding or posterization of the image, no matter what I do. It also doesn't match colourwise to wha…

  10. Dear all, I'm struggling to induce fuel pump sound in FS2004 by using the dsd_XML_sound gauge. Here is my dsd_XML_sound.ini file: [Config] MaxSounds=100 Lvar=dsd_xml_sound3 LvarStop=dsd_stop_sounds [LVars] Lvar00=GENERAL_ENG_FUEL_PUMP_ON [sounds] Sound00=./Sound/fuelpump.wav I've declared the dsd_XML_sound3.gau in the panel.cfg file, so the problem is not there but might be in the .ini file above. Basically, it should start the sound when the fuel pump is ON, but it does not! Anyone could help me doing this? Many thanks in advance for any help! Kind regards, Stéphane

Hi I don't know if there is any knowledge yet of changes made in P3D but I've run across one conundrum. Hopefully the brains on this board might be able to help! I have successfully transferred many FSX aircraft across to P3D with virtually no hitches whatsoever. However with one of my favourite aircraft - David Maltby's DH Comet - an odd problem. The VC panel is made up of 5 seperate sections in the panel.cfg. All the many dials and switches work as intended except that in just one section [Vcockpit02] (the centre panel) none of the switches are clickable. They are the same gauges as in the 2D panel where they work fine. I realise that this is an FS9 model adju…

On most default and better payware AC, there is a noticeable 'jolt' upon landing, which increases in severity as landed FPM increases. But it seems on some payware, such as the Capt Sim C130 or the Iris C27, there is no particular impact effect - no real difference between landing at, say, 200 FPM versus 500 FPM. Is there a simple setting in the AC's respective .air files that can be adjusted to produce a more realistic landing impact effect?

  19. Hi all, I've been playing around with FS Panel Studio and doing some manual panel.cfg editing, trying to create a custom panel of gauges that I can display on my second monitor. I'm planning on creating a 'mask' (hardboard with holes cut out for each instrument) to place over these in my home cockpit. I can get the FSX default gauges to display in a panel but they look terrible on my second monitor, pixellated and blocky. My main display is 3 monitors running as a single display of 5760x1080, and the instrument monitor is running at 1680x1050. My custom panel (and the default FSX 2D panels) look fine on the main display, but pretty grim when I drag the…

I've noticed that the A380 from Wilco is a very sturdy aircraft. But its a bear to land sometimes. Funny thing is, I've been contemplating building a bigger aircraft when I get the hang of the model kit. Only problem with that is I have no idea how to write propper config files for any addons. If I were to make suggestions on the aircraft I was looking to create, is there anyone in the AVSIM community that would be interested in doing one, possibly with the stock 747 or feelthere\wilco A380 cockpit panels? I would appreciate any feedback.

I just wanted to start my first post by saying thank you to all those who make so many awesome aircraft. For my request, I was hoping that someone more versed in the use of the FSX SDK could help me out and create an anotov 225. The reason I ask this is I saw the aircraft in the movie 2012 and have wanted to try it out since. If someone in the community could do this I would be truly grateful. Again, thanks for all the good work.

Ok I have a problem trying to use 2 MAKE_SPRITE images over each other with each having a mask. Im making a HUD and the problem is with my attitude card and my horizon line which goes over the attitude card. One is always blocked by the other no matter which order I list them in. They both use the same exact mask image, but each MAKE_SPRITE image of course has its own mask, Is there a way to have both images use only one mask so the masks dont overlap each other and block the other one out? Thanks, Chris
