Hello guys i need some help in order to create a simple gauge. The reason i am writing this post is that i am completely amateur in gauge creation so i need some help. My goal is to create a simple gauge that will shows the center of gravity with zero fuel weight and the center of gravity with gross weight at the same time. Is this possible? Maybe a quick start tutorial on gauge creation? Many thanks in advance.

  2. Hello Panel guru's! In the panel.cfg entry below, I would like to replace "gauge10" with a third party gauge I own (RXP) that is sadly too large when I adjust/stretch width and height to look correct behind the 3D bezel in the VC. I say sadly because when I make the gauge large enough to fit behind the 3d bezel in the cockpit, it clips into the other gauges/radios. This is because they all share positions on $DHC6VIRTGAUGES.bmp background? So my theory was to create a second Vcockpit called [VCockpit02] like I see in other aircraft but I don't understand where in the plane model the Vcockpits are referenced so that the model knows how and where to display a gauge …

I have now tested the Fs2004 CG bugs which have been reported to me. I confirm that there is a loaded CG limit bug in FS2004. Please load and use the default FS2004 Mooney for testing at maximum realism.Microsoft obviously wanted to provide some guidance as to how much payload could be placed or removed safely at a particular station. A payload management screen requires explicit declaration of fore and aft CG limits which FDE authors can control even if it the chosen limits are excessively safe. Unfortunately that is not how it works in FS2004. The FS2004 payload manager shows a picture of a tailwheel aircraft for all aircraft and places a current CG locator within a red…

Is there a way to adjust the brightness of lighting on aircraft? More specifically, I find that more often than not, the landing and taxi lights are way too bright, almost unrealistic. I have been incorporating A2A Shockwave Lights which make a big difference in realism, but as for the the lighting map (or whatever it is) that controls the lighting from the above mentioned lights could stand to be either adjusted or recreated. I guess what I am really asking is whether there is a config file that controls all of this?

I am trying to build an "autostart" switch that is similar to the standard MS autostart (Ctrl E) function. The standard Ctrl E function starts engines 1, 2 ,3 then 4, and that is generally not the sequence in which multi engines are started. I also want to include other functions such as setting the park brake and some lights etc. I have set up an XML coded switch that works fine with all appropriate functions happening. The problem is that for all intents and purposes they all happen at once (there may be some delay if used on a slow computer). So I need a delay between each function representing the time taken to move your hand between the appropriate switches and…

Appeal to FSX Aircraft Developers: PLEASE could you consider following some sort of Standards, when defining the "UI" parameters in your aircraft.cfg This is the EASY stuff to get correct !! In particular, the distinction between "ui_manufacturer" = real world manufacturer of the Aircraft "ui_createdby" = The FSX developer "ui_typerole" = "kind" of aircraft, ie "Prop", "Twin Prop", and NOT its Manufacturer's Type designation. Thank you for your consideration ..

I've been playing around with some VC gauges on the Overland MD-11, using some ISG ones together with others that came with the model. Now, the ISG ones work fine, but the others don't, they seem to be reflective or something (the engine instruments and autopilot displays). See the attachment for a picture. How do I make sure that the gauges don't reflect but show up like the ISG ones?

Hello everyone, I am in the process of developing a sim product with aircraft models and detailed panels. I am wondering, if the product is a payware product, do I need to obtain some type of legal licensing agreement from the plane manufacturer? For example, if I'm developing a 737 similar to PMDG, would I need permission from Boeing? Thanks, Putput28

I have an urgent need to update my sound module to allow for increased flexibility by the users. I have been using a predefined path to the sim's ..\Sound folder such as the following: (GaugePlaySound)("sound\\LHC_X\\SND1.wav","",0) I already know how to use the "fifth parameter" of the gauge entry to include a relative path, such as the following: gauge00=LHC_X_Sound!SoundModule, 0,0,1,1,SimObjects\\Airplanes\\MyAirplane\\panel\\sound CHAR sound_Path[MAX_PATH] = ""; int params_read = 0; case PANEL_SERVICE_POST_INSTALL: if (pgauge->parameters && params_read == 0) { if ( strlen(pgauge->parameters) > 0 ) { strcpy(sound_Path,(PCHAR)(pgaug…

Hi all, I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I have a couple of aircraft with turn problems. Say for instance, i'm in a right bank to intercept. When i roll out on course, the aircraft slides right side ways requiring me to roll left to re-intercept. Same thing when turning left, it slides side ways left momentarily. This is a pain when flying down the loc. Is there a setting in the CFG or Airfile that could prevent this? Thanks

Need help on a set of fuel tank selector knobs for a 4 engined DC4. I have 4 tanks referred to as Left Auxilliary Right Auxilliary Left Main Right Main but called in AIRCRAFT.CFG (to agree with MS naming configuration) Center1=0,-10,0,1000,10 Center2=0,10,0,1000,10 LeftAux=0,-20,0,800,10 RightAux=0,20,0,800,10 I am trying to set up the selection process so that the tank that feeds each engine can be manually selected. This means that EACH tank can supply EACH engine. By using CENTER1 and CENTER2 instead of LEFT MAIN and RIGHT MAIN the burning sequence set up by Microsoft, will be ignored, and if a tank is emptied, the next tank in the sequence…

  14. Hi, Quick question: I purchased a payware aircraft that unfortunately just has a cut-and-paste of the manual used for the ref.htm and check.htm files. I can easily edit these with Word, but some funkiness gets introduced (it's not important enough to me to dig into html hand-editing). I've changed font and font sizes, shrunk margins radically, changed the file from Portrait to Landscape mode, and it's all almost there in terms of being readable in the shift-F10 kneeboard, but seems to go a bit wild towards the end, repeating text and tables, etc. Is there any quick info on what needs to be done to fit the darn thing into the kneeboard? Some sort of .htm FS…

I am working on an FMS that runs on my android table and the user interface and tablet side work is complete, at this point I only need to get a few variables into the sim to use with a custom built HSI. After research I think I need to create a .dll to handle the variables and pass them to the XML gauge, however I was wondering how to create the shared space to share the variables with SimConnect. Essentially the information flow is Tablet-> C# SimConnect UI -> In-Process DLL -> XML Gauge. If there is an easier way to do this please let me know but after a lot of research this seems to be the way I have to go. I'm muddling through the Cabin Comfort example,…

A bit lost in goniometrics. Have all sides, so with some formulas one can get the value of the angles with a table or calculator. Even more easy, it is about right triangles. So eg. sinx=1/2, so x=30 degrees. And now tgx=a/b; is it possible to get x in xml?

  18. Greetings, I'm working on an XML gauge for PAX weight. I found an entry for payload station weight...is this the same thing??? if not, what is the correct parameter??? This is what I have come up with so far...but it's not showing anything but a "0". <String>%((A:PAYLOAD STATION WEIGHT, POUNDS))%!6d!</String> Any help, comments would be appreciated. Thank You J.R.

Hello all, I don't delve into the deep workings of gauges too, too often. However, I dusted off an old aircraft tonight and noticed that at ground level, the radar altimeter depicts 8-12 feet usually. I'm fine with maybe -2 to 3 or 4 feet, I see this slight error in real aircraft often enough to live with it. 8-12 unfortunately messes with my "10" foot GPWS callout so I'm hoping to tweak this. Is this a gauge problem or somehow tied to incorrect positioning on the model or something else? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

  21. I’ve recently gotten back into aircraft modeling for Flight Simulator after a long hiatus. The last plane I designed for FS was back when FS9 was the latest version. I used FSDS, and had by then gotten a very decent handle on it and the use of the stock animation nomenclature. Now I’ve been sinking my teeth into Gmax, and am well on the way in the process of building some viable designs. It is clear, however, that designing aircraft for FSX is a whole new ballgame, and that I’m going to have to gain some brand new skill sets if I’m to have any hope of getting my creations flying in FSX. It looks as if XML programming knowledge is all but indispensable in that r…

This is certainly not something one would want to do in the real world, but in FS9 I have an aircraft (747-200/300) whose take off and climb performance seems realistic enough but which stops in a ridiculously short distance on landing. I have tried leaving auto-brakes off and even not using brakes or reverse thrust at all, and it still stops in a little more than a thousand feet. Is there any way I can tweak it that won't mess up take off and climb performance? It's a bit anticlimactic to bring in a 747 at FlyTampa's wonderful Kai Tak and have it trundle to a stop in about the same distance a DC3 would use... B) Thanks Ian
