FSX/FSX-SE Aircraft and Panel Design Forum - How To

I'm working with the TextMenu example of the SimConnect SDK. I'm trying to get the text inside the textmenu window to display in Yellow but the enum element for that doesn't work...I get the default white color for the text. Here is my line SimConnect_Text(hSimConnect, SIMCONNECT_TEXT_TYPE_MENU, SIMCONNECT_TEXT_TYPE_PRINT_YELLOW, EVENT_MENU_1, sizeof(Menu1), (void*)Menu1); The enum element I'm using is "SIMCONNECT_TEXT_TYPE_PRINT_YELLOW" which should print the text in yellow (unless I'm mis-understanding the SDK). I have been looking for some high quality textures I could use not for making videos but for using within fsx for the 737 but haven't found anything so far, in fact I have only found 2 sets of low quality textures only, so I wonder if anyone here has found one. Thanks.

Hi , Tried to copy a panel from AVSIM , for 777, All was well until I tried to program the Fmc, Not able to type into scratchpad. And second with engines running The Fans were still and the landing gear was up???? Weird eh? Any Idea's please. Regards, Joe T

Hi everyone, I'm a real life pilot, and all of my training so far has been in Cessna 172s with steam gauges. The aircraft club I'm a member of has a bonanza F33A that's all glass panel. I'd like to use FSX to help learn both how to fly the complex airplane, as well as learn the glass panel stuff. My question is - how hard is it to modify the panel to match what our club's plane has? I've never played with modding panels, and truthfully would not want to spend a lot of time doing this - I think I'd like to just quickly get stuff in approximate place, and not worry so much about a perfect fit and finish. Is it possible to have a clickspot to be highlighted/indicated with overlaying image with some degree of transparency, the moment you move your curser over that spot.so when curser is not over area you see normal guage. if curser is moved over the clickspot it is highlighted.Hope you understand what I want to accomplish. and this is fir an XML gauge that I want to add this functionalityAny ideas?

OK. As the title states. I am looking for a way to make a GPS for the MAAM-Sim B25. What I would like is a GPS that could be placed on the windscreen of the plane and would always be visible. The default FSX GPS is nice, but when I leave the cockpit the GPS has to be brought back up when I go back into the cockpit. This is in the 3D cockpit. Anyone know how to keep the GPS open when I come back into the cockpit. Thanks Craig.

I tried to install Holger Mass Airport Chart gauge in FSX and Windows 7. It does not work.The file is: apchart.zipHas anybody installed this gauge succesfully in FSX running in Windows 7.Thank you for your help

Hi All Working at getting all my MEP aircraft with prop feathering installed. I use FSUPIC joystick button command -4096 PROP_PITCH1_SET. This only works on some aircraft. I have checked all the aircraft config files and included the prop related lines from the working models into the the rest. So is there things need changing in the air files or is prop feather missing from the models. TOGGLE_FEATHER_SWITCH_1 etc. seems to do nothing or is there additional coding needed. Paul

Hi All XML in FSX Is there any vars. that can help to get average speed for a non direct course to a waypoint with changing speeds. It's easy to get if you use constant speed and direct course but maybe can't be done with XML. Thanks

I know how to try and fix a black prop texture when the prop texture is in one bmp in the texture folder. I have a plane that has all of the textures in one bmp. Is there any way to edit the individual prop texture when it is part of one texture bmp? Thanks, Bob.

MAIW has several AI Military Helicopters (AH64D Longbow, MH54, UH1 Huey) that I schedule with AI Flight Planner, as I do with other AI aircraft. I have installed Heli Traffic, which apparently "converts" FSX installed helos into AI, but it does not allow "scheduling" of helo flights to depart and arrive at specific scheduled times. I have flyable EH101's and AW109's installed that I would like to convert to AI, since there are none available that I can locate. If MAIW is able to create Helicopters as AI, then there must be a method to modify the normal .cfg and .air files to use the mentioned military helos in FSX as AI and schedule them. Can anyone please advise how …

I am not at all a fan of FMC's even though they are great. I want to be able to delete it and use a regular autopilot that has NAV/GPS capability. I am interested in the IFly B747-400 in addition to other planes that have FMC's. I replaced the existing autopilot that had LNAV and VNAV capability with a standard autopilot. When I do and I try and activate the autopilot it goes right off. It will not stay engaged. I have tried several different autopilots with the same results. Thanks, Bob.

Not sure where this topic should reside but here goes... I have a small touch screen monitor affixed to top of the yoke which displays a custom camera defn of the main flight instruments...( that saves buying and trying to run lots of saitek FIPs). I also use it to pop up ATC, kneeboard and GPS windows. To read the ATC text clearly it has to be on 800x600 res but to get the clarity in the instruments display it has to be a higher resolution and then the ATC text gets very small. Is there a way to modify the ATC window so as the font size in that window can be increased. .. plus same query re the Kneeboard.

Each time I start with default aircraft, after I start the engine radios turns on and that happens: COM1 is selected (It's normal) and MRK Button is selected (I do not want this)... How can I settle radio stack defaults? Can you change the default radio frequencies? I don't want my MRK button selected after I open the avionics master switch, I'd appreciate for quick responses. thanks.

Hello everybody, I have not found anything but one post about this problem on the internet, unfortunately this post didnt resolve the problem, so I am hoping to get some help here, it would be very appreciated! So i created (or rather tried to create^^) a own little pop up window giving me RPMs, Speed, Altitude and a switch to enable smoke. Hello! I am creating a custom 2-D panel for a custom aircraft and i am just about done except i would like to have a gun camera. I have looked around everywhere and the closest gauge and/or panel i could find was the PLAT in fsx_fa-18_combat.zip (http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=PLAT&CatID=root&Go=Search) Does anybody know of a gun camera gauge or could make one for me? :smile:

I'm using a USB interface 2125 from Desktop Aviator to add custom switches and buttons to my sim and so far it's working very well. What I'd like to do is assign buttons to the options from within the ATC. Usually you have to choose 1-9 from the keyboard to choose things such as what airport you wish to contact. My question is how do I assign the buttons to choose these options. Is this possible? Hope I've explained this properly and have posted in the correct forum. Thanks Mitch

Would one of the flight dynamic experts assist me with editing the air/cfg file to make the add on more realistic? Issues I would like to adjust.... 1. Parasitic drag on the ground is too much. It should not take 70% N1 (forget epr values as they are useless in this add on) to move the aircraft from a complete stop. Take off acceleration is slow. Having some time in the real Lear 25, the thrust/acceleration is instantaneous and acceleration comes quickly. 2. Spoiler operation pitches the nose of the aircraft up. In the real aircraft, it pitches the nose down considerably forcing moderate back pressure on the control column. What values can I adjust? Thanks…

Ok im ripping my hair out, I was using flight simulator x just fine a day ago, then I was just screwing around with some settings of start up state in the pmdg 737 and now suddenly it starts up in this weird blend of cold and dark and default. Before you say it, I know, I should be able to turn on the pmdg 737 from cold and dark but I dont, and to be perfectly honest have no intention of learning. It is of no use to me. MY QUESTION: How to make ALL planes start up in the default engines on irs aligened and so on, how do you set so it all goes back to default setup. Thanks, isaac
