FSX/FSX-SE Aircraft and Panel Design Forum - How To

I have no intention of ever releasing this to the public, but I thought I'd share it with you. It's not super accurate. But it's alright for a first pass. I really have no idea how to put it into FS, I'd like to learn that part so I can create some high quality models for everyone. I'm just a CAD modeler.

I have a CARENADO Cessna SKYLANE II RG 182, it has very old Radios, ADF, DME, AP, Transponder, Audio panel and has no Altitude hold capability. I would like to upgrade this whole panel with more modern equipment. What is the easiest method to do this? I am a novice regarding this kind of operation. George Clark

I would like to upgrade the Caravan to the Supervan (900shp) engine. Do I only change the shp to 900 (or pro rata equivilant), or will there be other work as well?

Hey everyone! So I have an aircraft whose strobe lights as well as beacon lights I absolutely LOVE - i.e. I want the same strobes on all of my other aircraft. Is there a way to "copy" these lights (lights themselves as well as strobe/flash pattern/frequency) to other aircraft? Well I know there is a way, actually, but what I am asking is HOW this is done? While we are at it, if this is done correctly, I'd like to be able to modify the beacon flash rate - where is this done? I say this because the beacon flash frequency on this aircraft is very similar to a strobe: four fast flashes with pauses in between. I'd like to see a single or double flash with a pause if po…

Hello! I've got a question regarding controls of the engines in a twin engine aircraft. I am using F buttons to control the thrust and I've been wondering is there any way that I can control each engine with different button? e.g. assign the keyboard buttons so that I could decrease left engine thrust with F1, right engine with F2 and increase left engine thurst with F3 and right engine with F4? I know that you can select the engine that you want to control but it isn't what I want to do. Any help would be appreciated

The Just Flight BAE 146 Heading knob cannot be turned with a key command, which makes flying with EZDOK almost impossible. Does anyone know the code to place in one of the gauges so as to make this functional? All the other autopilot functions have their appropriate key commands. It seems like they simply omitted this one. tc

Hi ..,. i need to create invisible panels to deal with a problem i have in p3d with the pop-up panels in the 3D cockpit of an aicraft 'popping' up uncommanded when i use my voice recognition software. Makes for some interesting situations: you are lining up on finals and all of a sudden the screen is filled with the throttle pedestal or the overhead. Interesting but not helpful. Appreciate if someone could tell me how i go about doing this?? Thanks Alan

Hi, By coincidence i noticed that the HSI TO/FROM FLAG: %((A:HSI TF FLAGS,enum) 1 ==)%{if}TO%{else}FROM%{end} didn't work when the autopilot is drived by NAV2: (A:AUTOPILOT NAV SELECTED,enum) 2 == With (A:AUTOPILOT NAV SELECTED,enum) 1 == no problems. Is this observation correct?

I have very recently asked a question on this same forum, named Solid prop circles in FSX . I downloaded a FSX C123 that was converted from FS2004, where the propcircle was solid. The forum members said I must use DXT2BMP to convert the propcircle texture. In the end I used another version that displayed correctly. Now I have drawn in the Feelthere Caravan of FS2004 and I have the same propcircle problem. I also have black textures inside the aircraft when I view sideways and forward the panel textures are missing. The gauges are there. I would like to know if this is the same problem that I can fix with DXT2BMP? I must add that I like this Caravan as …

Hi guys, I have the Flight1 441 Conquest and enjoy flying the 2D panel. Is there anyway of creating a copilot side(2D) using gimp or photoshop freeware? I think I remember that you can invert the panel, I just don't know how to do it. Is this possible? If so, how do I do it? I would like to use the 2D copilot on another screen. Thanks in advance.

I am not a programmer and know nothing of C++ but would like to amend an XML gauge file for the saitek FIP by adding to it so as it adds a prompt (text "AUTO") when the autorudder is ON. I have got some existing script designed for a light activating (image shifting from off screen to on screen) when flaps are full down and have altered x and y and image name and size accordingly. Can someone please advise what the <Value> line needs to be to detect value as 1 when autorudder is activated or will this approach not work for autorudder. I am hoping this is possible as I use the rocker switches on the saitek throttles all for events where pressing = on and press again…

Hi all, Long time simmer (back to the days of Atari 400 and Plato), never got into the nuts and bolts of making my own stuff. I recently purchased First Class Sim's Discover Arabia because it has a Progressive Aerodyne SeaRey, which I am currently building. I'd like to redo the panel to reflect my own aircraft, and use FSX (or FS9) to try out different paint schemes before I commit to doing it for real. The question is how hard/if it's at all possible, and if it's ethical? I will not be reselling the changes, just using it for my own personal enjoyment. I use Photoshop 7.0. I am having trouble converting my panels that are in RGB color to index color. For some reason when converting to index color black (the transparency) it adds a value of 1 to the black thus rendering non transparent. I normally use the panels in RGB but I am trying to cut down the size of the bitmap to save on framefrate. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Jason.

I received my Naval Aviator Wings last week as Coast Guard Aviator #4452 and I am off to Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point to fly the HC-130H.
