Having a bit of trouble with one of my gauges in displaying the leading zeros. A four digit display but if that value is less than 1000 only 3 digits display with out leading zero. example of code to display ADF freq as follows: FREQUENCY, enum) 10000/)%!3.1f!Thanks...

Hi, I hope I am using the correct forum for my question.Well, I have downloaded Fred Banting's DHC2 Turbo Beaver III. I have noticed though that the airplane has a strong tension to roll to the right (even when empty). It seems as it needs aileron trim but since no such gauge is available in the panel I was wondereng if I could do anything with the aircraft.cfg file. Any comments on either the airplanes attitude and any potential solutions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,Maybe a very stupid question:I started this morning with vector gauges (c++ & gdi+) no problems, but I don't really know how to get a value from fs and put it in a string, with the MAKE_STRING macro's there was no need to do that..So I just like to read something out of fs to a string :) I know it's probably very easy but I can't get my head around it.Thanks in advance

Got most of the gauge working ok but trying to add a couple of features, one, I want to HiLite an object (button) when the mouse passes over it. Tried adding "Image" after a mouse Rect deffenition...(taking a wild guess!) but didn't work. So what i need help with is:1. enabling an image.bmp when mouse is in a defined area2. Hilite some text when mouse is in defined areamany thanks....

Thanks for all the help I have received!! I have finally finished my digital XML gauges. It has been a very trying experience, but I feel it was worth it. I have replaced most of the standard panel gauges with these digital versions. My tired old eyes had trouble reading the dial gauges, because they were sized too small. I have uploaded my gauges to my web page and if you want them here are the links. If you click on the JPG file and it is not clear, you can right click on the JPG file and chose to "Save As". You can then open it in a paint program and zoom in to see it better. If you like what you see in the picture then download them. When you click on the CAB file it …

I have a set of gauges setup to run various lights when certain criteria are met. This was thanks to Rob. However, I get a flsh of those lights when I turn on the master lights switch (L key). The lights in question immediately turn back off when the gauge programming takes over. The problem is in that momentary flash... in most cases I have effects tied to those lights and that momentary flash causes the effects to "go off." How can I avoid this? (it's real embarrasing to have paratroopers jump out on the ground or to drop bombs on the runway I'm still sitting on *grin*)

All,Is it possible to add-on a "generic," navigation FMC to aircraft panels that do not include one? Specifically, I'd like to add FMC to an MD80 panel. Any help will be appreciated.

I've been using 3D Studio for years, and recently blindly went to using Gmax for designing aircraft without really considering the consequences and realizing I could have been using 3DS all along. Anyway to make a long story short, I'd rather have my model in 3DS for a variety of reasons including rendering and Ultimate Unwrap support.I tried the route of exporting MD3, then using 3D Exploration to import the MD3, but the geometry is getting trashed in subtle but significat ways (welding verticies, losing smoothing groups, material assignments, etc, etc)...Is there any other way to get out of Gmax short of basically rebuilding weeks worth of geometry? I've heard there's a…

Hi,I'm working with Visual C++ (VS2003) and have a gauge in three modules, two are in C++ (cpp) using DirectX, and the main gauge file in straight C. No problem compiling but I have a conflict between the CPP libraries and the C libraries, in that I have two _DLLMain entries (one for the CPP libraries, one for the C library) and a linker 2005 error (duplicate symbol). The gauge compiles just fine as long as I don't use any of the libraries (.lib) written in CPP.The culprit is no doubt the GAUGE.H file that declares the DLL main entry point, but MS also says you can't combine some libraries. My choices are (I think):1) write the gauge code in CPP so the libraries are used…

Anybody know which rudder or yaw variable (token, FSUIPC or XML) controls the nose wheel steering? I realize this may be model dependent but which param is normally used to set nose wheel? This is for ground steering gauge. I have the planes steering correctly but the nose wheel isn't moving. Thanks for any tips.

Hey, Guys I need your help, I would normally ask Andy Warden via MSN, but he isn't online at the moment. Anyway, MakeMDL is giving me headaches. I'm using the FS2004 MakeMDL, and it appears to export fine, the model is created, I copy it to the aircraft model folder and open up FS. I can select the aircraft via the menus, but the model doesn't show up and FS CTD. Any ideas? Thanks guys! I have created a texture and mapped it to the forward portion of my fuselage. The texture is made for one side only, and mapped to the other side. Tonight I made the logo and applied it, but it is reversed on the opposite side of the fuselage! Is there a way to get the logo to display properly on both sides without making a complete texture? Something like a 'decal' that would be applied on top of the existing texture?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/75915.jpgThanks!Robert

I have designed a digital clock, using XML, and it works well except for one small problem. The hours are displayed in the 12 hour format and I want them to be in the 24 hour (military) format. I have not been able to find the solution, so I am asking the experts again. The clock will display local and ZULU time, as well as the sim rate. This is the part of the code that displays the 12 hour format.(P:Local time, hours)I have completely digitized my panel, except for a few regular gauges (HSI, Attitude, RMI and etc.). I can now make the remaining gauges large enough, so these old eyes can read them. Thanksgreenco

I have a problem with my minipanel displaying the default? gauges from MiniPanel.cab instead of the ones I want. I am wondering about the maximum number of polygons makemodel will allow? I have been making a VC and it is quite detailed actually, to the point of about 60,000 polygons, maybe 70,000. after testing a few things, I found that the maximum amount that makemodel allows seems to be around 50, 000 polys. If I export anything more than that # of polys, I get an: "error A2071: initializer magnitude too large for specified size" which I assume means "model too big". My question: MUST I have less than 50,000 polys, or is there a way to get around this? Also, is this maximum for the exterior and interior models combined, or can they have 50000 polys each? I remember hearing someth…

I am developing a FS2004 model using Gmax of a vintage biplane in which the wings fold back against the fuselage. The ailerons on the upper wings need to move in opposite directions (one up, the other down) to overlap in the folded position, and the ailerons on the lower wings both need to move down so the wings can move close to the fuselage in the folded position. I am already using key frame animations for the ailerons for normal flight. Because in Gmax the part name is used to identify the key frame animation I can't apply another animation to the ailerons. Would it be possible to clone the wings and apply a wing folding key frame animation to the clone and then arra…

Hi simmers, according to the FS2004 SDK there are two parameters to get the status of the exit doors. There is the usual "CANOPY OPEN", that gives the state of the Main Exit Door, and there is a new parameter "EXIT OPEN" that should be able to take indexes. I thought this is a great improvement, because this should give the possibility to read the status of cargo doors, etc. which are toggled by SHIFT + E 2.However, so far I was not able to figure out how these indexes have to be implemented. I can use the syntax "EXIT OPEN" and this seems to be exactly the same as "CANOPY OPEN". But When I try it with an index, it does not work. I tried:"EXIT1 OPEN""EXIT2 OPEN""EXIT OPEN1…

Just when I think I am beginning to understand this XML stuff, I hit another snag! After checking the SDK Parameters document I found an entry for "Transponder Code" and it stated to use "units bco16". The SDK Units document shows a "BCD16" and not a "bco16", so I think we have a typo. I have spent several hours, trying to find a code example, for programming a transponder and have failed. This is how I have interpeted it, from what I have read. To get the current transponder frequency to appear in my gauge window, this is part of the code that I have put together. What am I missing?%((A:Transponder1 Code,Frequency BCD16))%!d!Thanksgreenco

I want to display a leading zero in front of my "ADF Frequency", on a gauge I am making. I want the gauge to show this format "0654.0" and not like this "654.0". The articles I have found on the subject states that putting a zero in front of the "format specs" will do it. I have set the "Length=" at 5,6,7 and 8, to see if it was the problem, but it makes no difference. As soon as I increase the frequecy above "999.9", it will display this "1099.9". These two examples produce the same results. %((A:Adf active frequency:1,Kilohertz))%!4.1f!and%((A:Adf active frequency:1,Kilohertz))%!04.1f!What am I missing?greenco

I made a gauge that adds funcionalities for an almost dummy button. My gauge detects a mouse click and perform some actions, however the dummy gauge under my gauge must also receive the mouse click. As far I understood putting my gauge over the button blocks the mouse detection for the button. Is it possible to have both gauges receiving the mouse event?ThanksJos

Hello to all.I've just started to use Gmax. I am currently developing a Piper PA-38 Tomahawk. I have started on the nosewheel see pictures below (hopefully). If you could let me know what you think that would be great. Also, if anybody has any pictures (specifically top down or 3-view pictures I would love to hear from you. I been researching this for quite a while and still haven't found any useable pictures for scale. RegardsCaerddyddflyer
