I have read the SDK in reference to the CAB DIR. I have been unsuccessful in trying to compile anything. I have followed what the SDK says... and no dice. Can anybody point me in the right direction, or give me an easier compiler to work with? I remember.... not too long ago.... an easier compiler was out there... just dont remember where I got it. It had an easy to use interface. Can somebody help please?? Thanks in advance!Kobie :-wave

I'm working on the stabilator for my Thorp T-18. It operates the same as that on the Piper Cherokee. The elevator is hinged to the main stabilator, and moves in the same direction. How can I do this in GMAX? I currently have an operating main stab using the stock tag. Here's a pic of the real thing...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/70850.jpgThanks,Robert

When porting some FS2002 aircraft into FS9 they suffer from an inability to start and run the engines. Is there a missing value in the aircraft.cfg file that causes this?boneshttp://fsaviation.net

Dear FS payware programmers,we should have a forum together where we can exchange experiences and help each other. Now it exists!Possible topics will be1.) Piracy protection2.) Publishing contracts / ways of publishing3.) Team management4.) Different experiences / warnings of traps...We are NOT intentionally going to talk about FS programming hints / programming in general. This will only be possible if ALL agree and ALL participate. The forum is NOT public, only approved members will be able to enter.Conditions to enter the forum1.) Experienced in C++ programming (no WYSIWYG programmer)2.) At least 1. greater payware product created and published on FS marketIf you want …

Is there a direct setting that affects takeoff speeds in the .air or .cfg file or is it simply a product of the lift generated based on other FS parameters. Also, same thing with stall speeds. I am trying to get an aircraft to stay in the air at 50% flaps and 100knots. What can I change to make this happen. No matter what I change it stalls around 110?I'm using FS20002...

I am referring to the capabilites of the default reverse thrust and gyro sounds. When you activate the associated function, the file plays until a preselected looping section is reached, then FS just loops that until the function is deactivated. As an example, open up any default gyro sound and you'll see that it has windup, loop, and winddown sounds all in one file. It winds up when you flip the master battery switch to on, then loops a section in the middle until you switch the master switch off, whereupon the wind down segment is played.I have tried using Cool Edit's Cues and Sound Forge's Edit Sample ("Sustaining Loop") functions, both to no avail. It just loops the en…

Does anyone know if there's a way to be able to see the minipanel in spot view?I just added a minipanel to the Piper Navajo Panther (copied the appropriate sections from the PMDG B1900), but I'd like to be able to see it when I'm flying from "outside." I tried using Shift+1 from spot view, but that didn't work. I also wonder why the minipanel isn't listed under Views/Instrument Panel. All of the other subpanels are listed there. I wonder where MS gets this info from. Something makes me think it used to be. Maybe that was Fs2002.Thanks

Hello all, Well I finally decided to try to start giving back to the flightsim community and began on building my first plane but I have some questions? First let me say that I'm using FSDS 2.xx. My first question is when you guys design your planes, do you build a part then texture it, then move on to the next part and texture it? Or do you design the whole plane and then texture it when completed? What do you do and why? Also, texturing buildings seems pretty easy but rounded objects, like fuselages seem a lot harder, is this true or not? Next, where can I find the best newbie tutorials? Though my project is coming along I feel like I'm re-inventing the wheel …

I have a couple of aircraft that the panel.cfg is aliased to default FS9 aircraft. In these two particular planes, the only view that shows up at all is the pilot seat forward 2D cockpit view. Since this .cfg is aliased to a panel that has a 2D view and a VC (in this case the MSFS default Learjet) shouldn't all those views show up?I tried copying a panel that had all the cockpit views into the aircraft's folder and overwriting the .cfg with a new one, but still the only view that shows up is the pilot forward 2D view, although now it's of the different panel I put in the aircraft's folder. Please forgive me if this is a stupid question, I am VERY new to MSFS and am just …

Hi all,I have successfully figured out how to modify a .asm to do what I want, but now I'm concerned that if I use BGLC from FS2002 to compile the asm to .bgl, and then change it to .mdl that I might not get all the FS9 features. So, my question is, is there a way to compile .asm's with makemdl.exe or some other tool that is FS9 compliant? I'm pretty sure that bglc.exe will not be.StickAuthor of LaunchControl for FShttp://webpages.charter.net/pwaugh/

Wonder how you asemble the .asm files with makemdl after you hack them. I'm experiementing with modifying the rotation of the main rotors of helicopters. Thanks for your input.

Since there is now a checkable option to "keep files", to keep the .asm files, I have read that you no longer need Middleman or Model Commander to do so.However, there is a trick to doing this as when exporting from GMax, it is not selected by default. How is this done?I ask because I notice that I cannot do anything with XML without eliminating ModelCommander from the loop.StickAuthor of LaunchControl for FShttp://webpages.charter.net/pwaugh/

Is it possible to take the 172 and 182 models and make it so we can paint both sides of the fuselage and tail? I know this has been done with the Dash-8 recently and thought these models are pretty good except for the textures. I would be willing to paint them both If I could put proper looking registration numbers on the fuselage sides. To do that the model needs to get split up into sides for the texture mapping. Anyone?ThanksHornit

Hi all.I'm completely new in AC design with Gmax so please bear with me if it does not look perfect so far.I was pretty eager in having a Guppy as there are none in the FS world so far. First of all thanks to Tom Gibson for providing me the source file of his KC97 Stratotanker on which the Guppy once was based upon. I learned a lot of his model, overtook some of the original parts and as i learned more about gmax, i rebuilt most parts from scratch. The rest is also on my todo list.I hope the screenshot works...Kind regards, Michael.

Hi,I am currently working on my own traffic board AI view gauge file and I ran into some problems.Does anyone know if it is possible to read out AI aircraft information, like departure and arrival aiports, using ITrafficInfo? I would also like read out ETD and ETA for AI aircraft. Have anyone managed to do this?In the Traffic Explorer (TrafficToolbox) all these values are available so I know it is possible, but unfortuantly it is not documented how to read these datas.Arnt Helge Haaland

Does any of you panel gurus think that is possible to remove the frame (switches and dials) from the default GPS in FS9? I would like to build a GPS for my home cockpit and need to have display portion fill the screen as I will have real switches. Any help appreciated.

I have developed a FS module that opens a dialog window. It works perfect BUT in some cases, my dialog window does not appear when FS is in full screen mode.In fact, my module works exactly as the Active Camera Pro setup window, which only appears when FS is in windowed mode.I'd like my module to work like FSUIPC (its window appears everytime, even if FS is in full screen mode).Does anyone know how to make sure the dialog window appears when FS is in full screen mode? Thanks.Eric

What part do you change in the sound.cfg to have the engine sound match the rpm of the engine. The same sound file in CFS3 and FS2004 are different with the same plane. In CFS3 the engine sounds like it is doing 2500 rpm. In FS2004 is sounds like it is only doing 1200 rpm.I hope this makes sense.

Experts,I'm just learning how to create gauges in XML mainly by reading FAQ and trying to understand the gauges packed with FS9. Would like to create a NAV gauge that, upon one click, will follow a flight loaded on the GPS. In other words, it would be like clicking GPS/NAV switch to GPS, then clicking on NAV. While trying to duplicate an existing gauge, I see that there appears to only be one mouse event per click. Is there a way to get around this and have a single mouse click generate two events? I've searched other postings. Thank you for your patience.Dave Vega
