Guys,Following are the calculations for estimating range and endurance for my Flight Performance gauge. As far as the actual velocities for Vbe and Vbr - I think they're correct, but the problem is estimating and displaying the actual range in nm and maximum flight time at those calculated velocities.Since CURRENT range and flight time can at least be superficially estimated based on the current fuel flow and fuel remaining, I am not concerned about that. But the numbers I'm calculating for range and flight time at Vbr and Vbe are way off when those speeds are matched and compared with current conditions. So my question comes down to this: How can one effectively estimate …

Hi,I want to set various user aircraft variables in FS through a GAU file. But, I cannot figure out how to set variables like latitude, longitude, altitude and so on. Is this possible and how? I couldn't find any suitable key events. I know this is possible through FSU, but I would like to know if there is an internal (and possibly faster) way of doing this? The goal is to map a user aircraft location to a selected AI aircraft and I have already managed to read AI aircraft location via the ITrafficInfo interface.Regards,Arnt Helge Haaland

I'm having some trouble with editing my Cessna panel. I'm using a picture I took as the background (I made it a *.bmp and it's 256 colors. It works). My problem though is trying to put the gauges in the right places. I've done this before without any problem by loading the panel background with Paint or Paintshop, and floating the mouse over the corner of the place where I want the gauge. Then I type in the coordinates into the panel.cfg. I've done this without any problem before. This time, however it's not working properly. The gauges are in the wrong places, and some are even off the screen. I'm not really in the position to buy a panel editing program.Secondly, how do…

Hi,I know the ignition system is necessary for combustion and sometimes you even can choose between 1, 2 or both systems operable. Also the starter switches have several positions among them the "off-position", which cuts the ignition.Using: ( A:MASTER IGNITION SWITCH,bool) and ( >K:TOGGLE_MASTER_IGNITION_SWITCH) works so to say: it kills the engines! Is that reality? So the small questions:1. What is the place of the ignition switch in the jet panel?2. Does someone use it and how?Jan"Procul Negotiis"

I have the Utva 75, a Yugo trainer with an excellent panel in both 2D and virtual. Problem is with the compass located on center post. It is so dark, day or night, that it is almost impossible to read. Can someone tell me a way to increase the light on this gauge. The panel.cfg does not have a seperate window for compass but there are lines under the "Color" showing day and night and luminous. Do any of these numbers have functions that could be changed or ??? Thanks...Cliff

HiI've really pulling my hairs on this one. I guess it's the integer problem striking me again at full strenght, but this time I'm not able to find a workaround. The number 5700 is on stack, how do I extract the 7 and have it be 7? I've tried all sorts of %, div, flr, ceil, near, negating (!), sqr d * and so forth, but I'm only getting the number 8 out. 5600 works ok though.I've tried using if and els, but (obviously) I'm not getting the hit where I want it. The div command, which is supposed to do integer division, does it work as expected? If this is a result of binary numbers, I'm sure some experts here have found a neat workaround for this?Oh, btw, the int (same as flr…

After exhaustive testing and experimentation, it appears clear that the FS9 altitude capture is even worse than it was in FS2002, in that the VS to ALT capture function is far too weak, especially for light, slow aircraft. It can be shown that the standard ALT capture overshoots badly at airspeeds less than 180 knots, so the slower the aircraft the worse it gets.I cannot find a single param in the airfile which over-rides the hard coded ALT capture function. Furthermore the aircraft cfg autopilot pitch section is completely useless and changing the value of max pitch acceleration to more than 1.0 results in a practical value of....1.0, although setting less than 1.0 does …

I know this probably isnt the correct forum to say this, but I thought I might just throw it out there. I would love to see a KC-10A made for FS2004. It is an amazingly versitile aircraft that I feel would appeal to many in the FS community. I personally feel that inflight refueling is seriously lacking in the flight sim world. Anyway, just a thought. :-wedge"Pilot-Boom, Boom stowed leaving position"

A question for the guru's.Between FS Repaint and DXTBmp I'm capable of stumbling through repainting aircraft, but I've come to an area that is beyond my limited knowledge and ability.I would like to add some missing framing to a "clear" canopy. I can open the canopy in my editor and add the missing frames, however, when I select the aircraft in FS9 the new framing is nothing more then a tint. How can I add a solid frame to a "clear" canopy? Thanks.

  21. Beta v1.0 version of the "Blackbox File I/O" gauge is available (free) upon request. If you'd like to incorporate File I/O into your gauge(s) without the hassle of writing your own routines, this may be for you! :)It provides 20 'broadcast generic variables' that are 7 digit integers (no decimal) and reads/writes to the ESDGblackbox.dat file.An entry like this in the panel.cfg will place the 'display' in the upper left corner. All variables are displayed for debugging purposes.gauge00=testpanel!testpanel, 0,0,250Once testing is completed, changing the above to 0,0,1,1 will reduce the gauge display to only one pixel, essentially hiding it...Access the variables from your ow…

I've been trying to piece together a flight performance advisory display for a project, and I'm having some difficulty..I've been trying to KISS it by using Carson's factor of 1.316 to derrive what I need based on D/Lmax, but the numbers are not looking good, probably because this was never intended to be used for high performance jets.I've got:Best endurance mach = D/Lmax / 1.316 (and then converted to mach)Best Range mach = D/Lmax (and then converted to mach)What I really NEED is: 1) best endurance and range speeds at the current altitude and weight.2) best projected endurance and range speeds at the best projected operating altitude based on the current weight.I've bee…

HiPlaying with xml I came up with a "weird" possibility on showing and hiding clickspots. Although usable for the end user, as a gauge that lets you select/toggle engines and toggle exits, it's probably most useful to xml "programmers". I made it due to the problems of using keyboard to do the _SELECT events that myself and many other are experiencing. It just got slightly out of hand :DAs the file area seems currently down, I've put it here for now:http://home.no.net/karlrpet/SelectEngineAndToggleExits.zipPlease read the instructions, it requires a rather peculiar setup.
