I have been thinking of installing the FPS Enhancement Package V2 package to increase my FPS. I'm using mega sceneries in several places. Will this package damage my mega sceneries?? Thanks for any suggestions or help. CaptMac donmcdaniel

To date I have been flying in Europe and have installed UTX-Europe and Horizons Gen-X VFR. As an Aviator Pro student ( Angle of Attack) I am interested in installing OrbX Pacific Northwest scenery because I want to fly the routes that Chris takes us on in his video tutorials. Can anybody advise me if it is necessary to install UTX ( or similar) terrain environment in addition to the Orbx scenery for full immersion or if the Orbx scenery is sufficient as a standalone install?

Does anyone know what happened to Bernt? He seems to have disappeared from AVSim forums. He was a frequent contributor to the hobby. I thought he was the one doing the FDE for Milviz B55, as he was the one behind Milviz C310R FDE, but I learnt recently that someone else was doing the FDE for the B55. I hope he is still ok. I tried out REX Ess last night for the first time and haven't had a chance to play with it that much, so bear with me please... Ess seems to be different to 2OD in that in 2OD I'd launch FSX and the WX engine would start automatically with it, so no need to run the 2OD executable. Ess looks like it needs to run itself first (to go off and get the weather) and it launches FSX for you at the same time as launching its WX engine. So if I just launch FSX I don't get the REX WX engine, right? So I launched FSX via Ess last night but realised that my EZdok head movement didn't seem to work and I couldn't see that EZdok was running along with Ess and FSX - is this a prob…

I downloaded and installed some photorealistic scenery of Area 51. It has several areas around Area 51. There was a readme but it was inadequate. I put all the scenery files in a sub-folder of S4 called Scenery. I put all the textures into a sub-folder of the S4 folder called Textures. I tried installing it in the Scenery manager. It was added OK. Now I get an error "Scenery.cfg Invalid Remote Scenery Path in Scenery Area 124.".. Area S4 shows up in the airport select window of FSX. I tried editing the scenery.cfg file in C:\Program Data\Microsoft\FSX to add the line to the area 124 entry: Local=Addon Scenery\S4 but I still get the error. Can anyone ple…

I would like to have clarified if the lack of a VC in this plane means you can only look forward in order to see the cockpit of the plane. Look left right or anything but straight forward and you just exposed air. This because FSX is missing sideviews so a VC is needed. Is this the case in the FSX versionen of this plane? Anyone got the fooker and can tell?

I have just had a look at FSKneeboard2 (no affiliation whatsoever!) and it seems very impressive for the price. It makes me want to buy the Ipad2. It doesn't contain Australian or Asian charts. I was wondering are there any other EFBs for Ipad on the market? Or can you add Australian and other region charts?

Hi guys, I'm going through some of my UT2 traffic and updating or adding repaints and I am wondering if I can use FS2004 repaints on the models from Ultimate traffic 2? Or would I have to convert them? Thanks Dan

Greetings from a noobie to AVSIM. I've been a MS FlightSim enthusiast going back to the first edition when 3D scenery was "stick outlines". I have been successfully running FSX Acceleration with 3 displays, using 2 ATI Radeon HD4850s for 4 years. I started with three 20" monitors (1440x900x32) with no resolution recognition problems. I then upgraded the center monitor to a 23" monitor (1920x1080x32), and FSX was able to keep track of the two different screen resolutions. Most recently, I replaced the two 20" (outboard) monitors with two 23" monitor (1920x1080x32), matching the center monitor. I also upgraded my GPU with a Radeon 6950 2GB and successfully operated…

I know this may be a lame question to ask but here it goes . What does the green line stand for in the PDF in the pmdg 737ngx ? I normally see it when i am on a flight plan i know the purple line stand for but not the green line.

Hi all, SB=squawkbox AS=AS2012 after a few months of upgrading my hardware, tweaking fsx to run on an ati card, trying out rex-ess and AS to decide which, and changing my gpu to a gtx580, i can finally see the day where i will set it and forget it and get back into flying on VATSIM. I have a few questions that you may be able to help me with or not. 1. Considering the system thats in my sig(i have two monitors), would it be better to run AS and SB on a laptop in the network? 2. Near the end of a flight with the 737-300 Evo by Wilco, FSX halts with the message that there is not enough memory left to run the program. I also get strange visual artifacts (missing doors from the outside view and such). Might this be a memory leak? Because I haven't had problems with any other plane so far, from the simple ones to the overly complicated. Can you help? Thanks in advance

This is a 200 variant expansion for JF's 737-200ADV base pack and will set you back ten quid, which along with their recently released 100 series add-on (also ten quid) means their range of original 737 variant is now pretty complete. Not everyone who bought their 200ADV was overly impressed with it in comparison to the Captain Sim 200 variant (and some people reported issues I seem to recall), but I've never had any problems with it and actually quite like it, it being gentle on FPS amongst other things, and it does fly alright, well it does on my PC anyway. I just bought the Evolution Series 2 package. Little bit disappointed that there is not a Cathay Pacific or Singapore Airlines A330-300, let alone a QANTAS one. I checked the file library here and at Flightsim yet nothing. Any ideas?

This looks to be the only option/product available to that adds a lot of snow to trees in the winter. However, there is only the "notify me when this product is available" option at SimMarket with no option to buy. Anyone know if/where I can get it? Thanks.

Something that has been bothering me lately is that when flying in FSX Alaska during winter, the trees are all very dark colored on top of lighter ground textures. The result is that the autogen draw distance is very obvious and a bit of an immersion killer. It's annoying to be headed to a clear white patch of ground (to land my Maule w/ski's on) just to have it become populated with a thick, green forest as I get closer. The screenshot below is with Ultimate Alaska installed, which helps a bit, and the shot doesn't really show the horizon where the problem is more noticeable, but it conveys the issue I'm talking about. Looking to broaden my FSX horizons with an old-school jetliner... Considering the Captain Sim 707, but is this the cream of the crop from that era? I only got the beans for one purchase this month! Is there a high-quality L-1011 or DC-10 I should go for instead or is there something a little older that is worth considering?
