Okay, I thought I understood it all by now but apparently I don't. I just tried my first LPV approach in the RealAir Legacy with the RXP GNS 530. GNS 530 was on GPS, plane on AP, approach clearly showed LPV. I came in at 2500 ft (NAV) and at a nice speed and a good angle. I pressed APR on the AP before intercepting. My plane turned towards the runway, all fine so far. Then the GS came on: the plane didn't react at ALL and I had to manually take control of the GS as if it was an LNAV+V approach... I thought the fun of an LPV (and L/VNAV) approach was that you could fly it on the AP...? What did I do wrong?

GA singles and small twins, mostly in Orbx areas is what I do in FSX. Strictly VFR, using the GPS for autopilot at times is about as "technical" as I get. SIDS, STARS, and all the rest is way above my skill level at this time, really don't know what they even mean. And I only have around an hour or three each week to even get into FSX. Now, in the real world, I would of course figure that I would have to go through the training syllabus in order to advance from VFR GA to flying an airliner, and that would take many, many hours. It's just that the idea of taking off at, say, JFK, and landing a few hours later in Las Vegas intrigues me. And mostly …

In this moment, seems we have a new marketing strategy, that many Flightsim (FS9/FSX/P3D/X-Plane) developers are claiming for their products to be "officially licensed by Boeing". My question: how they can get such qualification and an approved license by Boeing? Cheers Kai

Kerbal Space Program http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php I just got it, just learning, and I don't think you can go to Mars, yet. But apparently you CAN go to the Mun. Check out the link, explains much better than I ever could. Kind of a flight sim, kind of goofy.

I once had a bookmark for a website that would give you I think 3 flights in different weather conditions. It was useful because it would show ifr airport pairs if current conditions existed in real life at the airports. I tried to search for it but no luck. Does the website still exist or something like it? Can't remember the name, but having the airports chosen for you added to the sim experience for me. Any help appreciated. Matt

Hey guys I am a pretty avid simmer and have been very interested in trying to tweak my graphic settings to get the game to run at the best possible performance with quality. Some information: CPU- intel i7 3770k oc to 4.45 ghz 12 gig mushkin ddr 3 2000 680 gtx video card 1tb fsx drive 6gbs intel 520 ssd for windows. Asus p8z77 deluxe mobo. Addons: PMDG 747, 737 Rex Essential FS global 2010 UTX GEX UT2 I know FSX does not make to much use of my video card and its all basically CPU usage. My current issue is i get a lot of stuttering at Orbx YMML Melbourne or any Orbx airports in general, i get slight stuttering when i fly at night. When i …

Similar to the old L1011 and other products from Aerosim, apparently the new 787 suffers from the same FD problem. Some time into the flight at cruise alt, the FD kicks off, autopilot disconnects, and no amount of clicking, reloading a/c, etc, will make them work again. Anyone found ways around this on older products that might be tried?

Hey I'm just on the lookout for the best Viscount for fsx. I know about the JF one but I'm not really looking for a payware Viscount. Am I right in thinking that I read Rick Piper did one in fs9 and ported it to fsx? Any other suggestions? Systems are important to me Thanks Lee Sent using Tapatalk

Anyone else having troubles with FSX A/P overshooting the localizer after downloading the latest Magvar update? My approach speeds range from 120-200 kts... (I've tested the entire range)... (I'm also speaking of aircraft using default A/P logic)

Hello, Guys! First look at this given picture in URL below and tell me is it a good Nose-Up at 3nm away of landing of Boeing 747-428? Flaps are 50, speed is 200knots, Altitude is 3000ft. If I reduce flaps to 33 then nose gets more up. So tell me is it good nose up near landing? If not, then how much should be the at nose 3nm of landing? Also how can I down that? http://postimage.org/image/hjha1vlov/ Second question is that how to fully turn left or right next two wheels of B747 by keyboard? Tell me any keys please. Regards, AP.

Well....the time has come. Since April of this year I have been converting Google Earth files into FS9 scenery with full night lighting. I am now proud to announce that late tomorrow I will be releasing the Boston Google Earth scenery for FSX. The readme file that will be included will explain it all but for now I will tell you what scenery/fixes will be released late tomorrow. I will keep updating the scenery with more as I find time. Prudential Building (replaces default scenery) John Hancock (replaces default scenery) Hynes Convention Center 500 Boylston St Zakim Bridge (replaces default scenery) Bunker Hill Monument Boston Public Library Charlestown Bridge …

Dear flightsimmers, Since a few days I'm experiencing a problem with my rudder. My rudder deflects about a half of the maximum deflection to the right, without any input. I use the Saitek rudder pedals, but I use them two years now and never had any trouble with them. Today I reïnstalled FSX, but it didn't solve the problem. I've also searched through the forum but I could't find a solution. A help-out for this annoying problem would be very much appreciated! Regards

Anyone tried this out yet? I'm more or less interested in the planes included and their models, as they were developed by A2A. If they're any good, it'd probably be worth the $50 to get the 3 trainer craft you get. Any opinions on the overall gameplay as well? Been out for a while but haven't read anything on Avsim about it.

After installing the free Orbix West Wind 7WA3 scenery, I have now lost the smoke, dust ( kicked up behind the tires, etc) and coastal wave action textures. Each is now a series of dark floating spinning squares. After installing 7WA3 I reinstalled the latest Orbix NA patch and Library files. Any ideas on how to fix this???

I currently have FSX DeLuxe edition running on a HDD ( separate drive to OS = Win 7). I am thinking of buying FSX Gold and installing onto a solid state drive ( I have yet to buy either). Is it possible to install 2 instances of FSX (my existing on the HDD and the new one) into the one OS.? Both would be on separate drives? This would allow me to continue to fly FSX while I set up the new one. Thanks, Bruce.

Hi guys, I'm not really sure if this is the right place to be posting this question, but I haven't really found other topics on this weird problem. Basically, in the San Francisco area, FSX is replacing the water with a dessert like texture. I installed Aerosoft's US Cities X San Fransisco and Flightbeam's KSFO, and it was only then I realized that the water was all gone (Golden gate bridge and alcatraz over the dessert definitely isn't normal). I'm not sure if I had this problem before installing those two products as I had never previously visited that area, however as soon as I saw the problem I disabled both sceneries and restarted FSX. However the problem is stil…

HI, I currently have REX OD installed, and I have been having a sort of curious "issue" with clouds for a while. I don't know if this is normal. When I am flying through a cloud, I see clouds in front of me. But, the moment I look to the side, the clouds do not exist around me--just in front of and behind the aircraft. I have cloud density all the way up in settings. Is this normal (As I understand it, FSX draws clouds as layers of sprites, but that is all I know)? I don't remember this being a problem with complex clouds in FS 2002 lol. Any help/ clarification is much appreciated!

I'd like to ask a simple question, but one that I've made complicated. When flying VFR, I know you're supposed to stay out of the clouds by a certain distance horizontally and vertically. So when I'm flying VFR in the great Legacy and I see clouds ahead at 8,000 ft., exactly what are my options? I guess I could climb immediately to be above them, or descend below them, or maybe change course and fly around them. What is realistic in this scenario? Thanks for any feedback.

Hey guys, first post. I have Sim Savvy Photo Scenery (love it), but I would like to add some nice airports (like Fly Tampa). Can I add these airports over the top of the photo scenery? If not, what other options do I have to make the airports look as nice as possible? Sorry for the basic question. Just getting into FSX.

I want to try an LPV approach with my brand new RXP GNS 530, however, I don't know how to figure out which airport has an LPV approach... I looked an Airnav and simply searched for an airport and because it didn't have any approaches I used the 'Other nearby airports with instrument procedures' option to find airports that do. I want to fly to an airport that has no ILS or anything but ONLY a LPV. Now the problem is that I do find enough RNAV approaches but I can't figure out if they are LPV or L/VNAV or LNAV+L or whatever... How do you figure out if a GPS appr is LPV...? Here are some random RNAV apps, but if they are LPV...? http://155.178.201.160/d-tpp/1208…

Hi, I reinstalled FSX on a new drive and I am looking at my simconnect.xml file on the fsx machine and I think everything is correct but I can no longer run ase. Nothing changed on the client. The simconnect.xml file I created uses the ip address of the fsx machine and port 500. Is there another simconnect file maybe simconnect.cfg supposed to be somewhere? You would think after all these years I would get this right every time. Thanks Bob
