The last 3+ years has taught us that Microsoft is very erratic and borders on being rudderless with a faulty compass. Given the unceremonious demise of MS Flight, we have all reflected in various ways. Fortunately, FSX seems to still have quite a bit of life left and the add-on market is as good as it ever was. I've been flying this plane for awhile now and love it except that I can't seem to get it to follow the vpath I program in the FMS. I've gone through all the tutorials for the FMS on Youtube and while LNAV works just fine, it refuses to climb or descend as programmed. My steps are: 1. Create a flight plan in FSX 2. Load the flight plan from GPS into the Citation's FMS 3. Set the speed and altitude for each way point and initialize 4. Input all other required values (departure runway, wind speed direction, fuel load, etc.) 5. Select the correct FGC source 6. Enter V speeds 7. Select NAV and C/O 8. Set an initial altitude 9. Hi all. I've deleted the magvar.dat file by mistake and now FSX is always asking for it when starting, "cannot open file magvar.dat". Is this a real issue? I've downloaded the new magnetic variation files, but still FSX complains about magvar.dat. Is there any way to recover this file without having to "repair" fsx ? (I don't really want to mess my install by running the repair utility from the fsx install disk!) Thanks for any help!

Does anybody know where to get PMSounds Freeware from in 2012? I keep sending Project Magenta e-mails and can't get further than replies saying it is available to current customers. They won't answer any other question. Most frustrating... Ta. SC

Hi, When in flight as soon as I talk to the default FSX ATC it lowers all my volumes.....How come? I need to go in the sound mixer to bring the sliders back up. Keeps happening everytime I talk to ATC.

Looking to introduce some authenticity into my virtual flying, so I'm just wondering something: my plane of choice for the moment is the Baron 58, but would a real pilot consider flying such a plane from Australia's east coast to New Zealand? And if so, at what altitude? And would the flight plan feature a high-altitude airways or low-altitude airways route? With the right payload and favourable wind conditions, the plane could cope with the 1,100nm range, but the overwhelming majority of the flight would be over water. Are little twin-props like the Baron flown over oceans in the real world? And if so, are such flights common?? Thanks

Hey all Just upgraded my older 560 for an EVGA FTW GTX670. Strangely there has been very little performance increase. Reinstalled drivers but am still getting about only 10-15 fps in clouds (4096 REX) at addon scenery airports, only 2-3 fps increase if that. I may well have asked this question before, but any answer will have been lost in a rapidly expanding sea of posts...... Does anyone know how to solve the "landing light blob" problem exhibited by planes in FSX? I am specifically referring to the landing lights on AI planes, since I stay within the confines of my own VC at all times during flights. The "blob" looks ridiculous, and I would like to get rid of it!

Basically I'm just trying to figure out of this program is worth purchasing or not. I've watched videos and I like what I see with the interactions but I'm mostly worried about setting it up for new aircraft that don't have cfg files like the Carenado C90 and a couple other planes that I plan on flying that FS2Crew doesn't support. Yes I know about Multi crew but honestly the learning curve and talking into my computer doesn't really interest me. And lastly, any other suggestions out there to simulate a co-pilot that actually does something?

Hey Guys, I recently bought a new HP computer. It works pretty well with FSX, however, I have one problem. When I use the mouse to look around, it only lets me move once. If I hold down the space bar, I can only make one movement before it stops moving and I would have to release the space bar. Pressing it again to move once more is especially annoying because my views are obviously constantly changing during phases of flight. On my old computer, I was able to move all around while holding the space bar with no problems, but it now seems to have a problem. I don't know if it's a problem with the HP mousepad, or FSX itself. So I went and got both GEX and UTX the other day to enhance some of that default scenery, but I don't like the performance. The frame rates are in the low to mid 20's which sucks because it causes stutters. I have the orbx northern rockies installed and consistently see frame rates above 30 and it's always smooth. I just figured with software as dated as those two the performance hit wouldn't be that noticeable. At least not as bad as FTX. Is this usual? I don't want to mess too much with the sliders because I finally have them set just right for the orbx region.

Hello all, For those of you who don't know, the city of Kunming is the capitol city in Yunnan province in China. Recently they just opened up a new airport and closed down their old outdated one. The old one was called Wujiaba and the new one is called Changshui (Long Water). This was a MUCH needed upgrade. I have now flown through both airports and would LOVE to be able to have the new Changshui in FSX. I am not a Scenery Designer...I have had some pretty miserable failures. Hello, Is there a way to install Land Class only from UTX (Europe)? I don't want their roads, coast lines, no night lighting etc., just the land class for Europe. I know there's control panel but, just in case, Robert Young mentioned this in one of his posts: "The reason why you might not see the lights is because disabling UTX roads and traffic in the set up app still doesn't re-instate the default roads or traffic in FSX, because UTX has a running exclude bgl which still blocks default roads. Hi there, thats my first topic and i hope you guy's can halp me like you've done with others. I have a very strange problem with my FSX. All started 3 weeks ago when i started the FSX to do a usual flight. After programming the FMC and started to taxi to the rwy, i noticed microstutters every 10-15 sec in hole of the flight! I restarte my PC and loeded again a flight, but the probleme were still there. I searched in several forum for solution by tweaking the fsx.cfg(Bojote) or even to tweak the PC but nothing changed. After that i was sure that not fsx causes the problem but some other software or even hardware settings, because the fsx befor that 3 weeks worked fine…

Hi Guys, Just wondering how you all go about planning your GPS IFR flights. So far I've been doing a mix of whatever works at the time, but I'd like to get a more perfect flow if possible. The two things that are getting in my way - the data is mismatched with both methods: 1. If I pre-plan with the FSX flightplanner or Plan-G then my waypoints are mismatched because they are much older than the waypoints in the updated RXP 2. If I pre-plan with FSBuild or another Navigraph updated planner, then my waypoints are all too new to enter into the RXP. Just got a fresh install of windows 7 ultimate fsx rex2.0 and pmdg 747-4 and i can only keep fsx runing if i dont use autopilot the minute a turn it on fsx only last about 5 mins runing than i get the apphang B1 freeze.... Any ideas ?????

Hi there, I'm getting back into my FS simming and now with a butt load of disposable income I'm wanting to really maximize my simming experience. I come asking for advice on pay/free ware ideas as well as yoke suggestions. First off the yoke. I've looked around and the main two companies I see are Saitek and CH(?). Now I already own a X52 and I love it, but I want to get a yoke and throttle quadrant. My question is what do you guys recommend? Saitek has 2 yokes from what I've seen and it seems like the Cessna one is a bit better for a few more bucks. I luv it when I snoop around and find a little "gem" I musta missed years ago. Talkin' about this Porter by Mr. Conrad. She is a beaut but I can't keep her "straight-and-level flight" unless I constantly wrestle her with my yolk.
