Nice promo for the Katana at Aerosoft but I'm wary of the impact on framerate/fluidity of that superb canopy and the complex system modeling. I've had a not so good experience with the RA Legacy (another nice canopy) which stutters, slightly but enough to kill the pleasure of flying it, even with the low poly mdl. On the other hand, a complex aircraft like the A2A "accusimed" P-40 works well on my rig giving me solid 24 frames over payware landscape (OrbX or Pacsim) +weather and 30 in lighter situation. For those having both, would you say that the Katana is less or as demanding than the Legacy ?

Hi All, Im using the ultimate traffic 2 addon - FANTASTIC! Inly problem is that my frames are being hit drastically! When im at a busy airport i can drop down to 8fps. The minute i stop UT2 from the menu bar they jump back up to solid 20fps... Does anyone know if the detail of the AI aircraft can be lowered as i think this is whats causeing the problem... UT2 AI looks amazing but its just a bit to much with all my other add-ons for scenery that im running too. Any help would be great Thanks

Hello A question to users of FSBuild: I am considering to purchase FSBuild for flight planning and I was wondering how FSBuild handles start positions in FSX? Does FSBuild build a database of installed add-on airports for selection of parking spots consistant with third party add-on scenery or can this be done within FSX Flight Planner? I have run into problems in the past where I generate a flight plan using an add-on program (ie. vroute premium), load the .pln file using the FSX Flight Planner but if I change the start position FSX Flight Planner will not load the flight plan. So the question is does FSBuild have the ability to export a flight plan with third…

I have the Blue Angel Software from Vertical Flight Productions and after a successful installation I can't seem to get FSX and this softweare to recognize one another. I have completely turned off the anti-virus program and did a reinstall of the Blue Angel Challenge softwware. Does anyone have an idea why FSX is not recognizing it?

Is fsx.cfg.text the same as fsx.cfg. I noticed after I had created a new config file that the fsx.cfg file had alot more in the text than the cfg.text file. Do I edit the .cfg or cfg.text file? The HIGHMEMFIX=1 was one that wasn't in the .cfg file but was in the cfg.text. After starting a new .cfg my FSX stops working each time the program loads. Even when I run it as administrator.

After having read numerous posts that this parameter does either nothing, or nothing useful with FSX SP2/Accel and a quad CPU, I have nevertheless tried to set it to 0.18, as was recommended somewhere on one of forums.. FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.18 // default=0.33 To my surprise, my experience is that it has improved smoothness and performance in heavy scenery, like Vancouver+. So, I wonder, is this just a placebo effect, or do other users have a positive experience with this setting?? My system config in my sig..

Hi! Is it possible to have undocked windows and have no borders? I am using an external FMC that needs the cdu in the airplane to be dragged to the screen in the fmc... the problem is that i get a ugly blue border... is there any way to get rid of this?

Hi: I was recently reading a review of the Piaggio P-180 from Wilco Pub. by Allen Lavigne and I noticed he mentioned trying it in (basically) three different modes: DirectX 9, DirectX 10 (Preview), and ... (drumroll please) ... DIRECTX 11!! I had to keep re-reading that last bit, as I was unaware there was any DX11 support for FSX. In fact, the DX10 support is questionable of course, so I am really intrigued as to what he meant by this, and is there some way to use DX11 with FSX? I am not sure if this is the right forum for this question but I have windows 7 64 bit and I just seem to have alot of issues with FSX. I am having FSUIPC with my "profile specific" not always working which I have shared with Pete and screen started flickering black and white after I had FSX.cfg restored to a new .cfg. I have been told from a IT friend that I should try the Windows XP emulator on Windows 7 but I don't have the edition that has it availabe. Would it be wise to spend the 100 dollar upgrade to use the Emulator? I have a good system so I shouldn't be having these issues.

After much trial and error, I finally got my act together and completed the private pilot check ride successfully... only I didn't get my certificate! I've done it twice more since then, and still nothing, despite the fact that missions still seem to give me rewards, and other rewards such as "n hours in a twin prop" still seem to update. It's such a pain. Is this a known issue? Is there some workaround other than flying through the whole thing again and just crossing my fingers? I want my certificate!

I have just tried to download the C310 from Flight1 and get a "This file contains Trojan Horse virus". Anyone experienced this or experiencing it now? Certainly don't want to continue if the file contains the virus. Jas

I note that some of the stock FSX airports and I give KIAH and KRIC as examples have ILS approaches available and yet the FSX stock ATC only gives options for visual approaches at these airports and the ILS approaches are not listed.

whenever it rains.. it won't rain continually non stop it rains then stops for about 2 seconds then rains .. rinse and repeat I'm using FSX SP2 with Active sky 2012 latest build. any ideas what causes this? or ?

Whenever i try to use the default ATC i can't hear the ATC & the other enviromental sounds including engines dip to a low level & takes ages to return. I tried saving my flight but that doesn't work. I have Traffic X installed but i don't know if that's causing the issues. Kind Regards, Si.

This is one of the most challenging real life landing i have ever seen. This airport i don't even think it can have an ILS system in their airport because of all these mountains . If anyone can do this landing in FSX with an airbus please upload the video some where . Because i would like to see it . I can't see myself trying to land their in fsx with extreme weather fogy condition .

Hi all. I'm pretty new to this flight sim stuff. I started with MS Flight not long after it came out and I'm now looking to move on after it's demise. I'm currently tossing up between FSX and X-Plane 10 and have tried the demos for both. X-Plane visually looks great but it's a bit of a clunker to work with for me. FSX doesn't look as good out of the box but is a lot friendlier to work with and has the added bonus of tons of content including missions. One of the things I really like with flight simming is sight-seeing - checking out the cool scenery the world has to offer, so decent quality graphics is pretty high on my want list. Hi there! I was flying today from LOWW to EDDS with my PMDG 738 NGX when suddenly at FL320 my TCAS warned me of 3 objects. I found them visually and was very irritated. The 3 objects where parachutes with payload. (Look at attached images) Has anyone ever seen such things in fsx? What is it and where does it come from? Can it be an AddOn? Greetings, counter! Edit: These things are following me! :S Edit 2: I just found out that this problem is related to CumulusX. If you experience this just uninstall CumulusX and the parachutes are gone!
