Okay I am trying to fly a route from PHNL to KLAX using SID/STAR for my departure and approach and using ATC to make this as real as possible. But when I use the ATC menu upon departure from PHNL, I don't receive any vectors once I take off. Instead it gives me 2 options: 1) nearest airport 2) tune to honolulu approach How do am I suppose to get vectored for my SID?

I recently finished making the transition from FS9 to FSX, and things are going well. My AI in FS9 was pretty much custom built and very extensive, and this is the only thing that's struggling during the transition. As an experiment, I've started using the traffic toolbox dll within FSX to "filter" the AI aircraft in heavy areas; for example, if doing a flight from or to KPHL, a few minutes before the FPS-sensitive approach I will go through the list and delete any AI aircraft that isn't going to or leaving KPHL. This can drastically cut down the number of AI planes being processed by the sim (from 500+ to 150 or so in the worst case at really busy airports), letting us k…

But I've got a problem with FSX: I yesterday completely reinstalled(ofcourse first uninstalled everything and then installed back) my FSX. Everything went fine. Just that now I face a problem I've never seen before. Taxiing requires a lot of power. For example. People can start taxiing and accelerate with NGX from stop to 20 ground speed with 30% of N1. I need 40% just to get 5 ground speed. I had my GW 58.5(so not much!) and also Airbus X Extended need 60-70% of N1 just to get it on move. So I hope I was enough clear explaining the…

I am curious about opus' depiction of weather over large bodies of water. I really hope it is not like previous engines that map the same weather from the departing coast all the way to the arriving coast. thoughts?

I got some free time and I'm trying to determine what exactly FSX is doing while it's executing. I started Process Monitor (64bit v3.05) and executed FSX.exe and applied filters (so that I only see what FSX.EXE is doing). So the stream of data starts to get logged in Process Monitor (16,000,000+ events by the time I stopped monitoring) ... FSX is at the Free Flight screen. I start looking at the event data and find a few interesting bits of info: 1. You can copy any specific version of DX9 or DX10 (files/dlls) into the root of FSX and FSX will use that specific version rather than what's installed on your OS. Hello Avsim Forum! I have unusual messages that come up everytime I start FSX. In all there are six messages in total. Each pertaining to some addon and its "config number" and Modules. The photo shows the one for A2A Accu-feel. Bit out of my realm I'm afraid. Anyone seen this before or know have a suggestion to get rid of these messages? It does not affect FSX in any perceivable way.

Hey, I have been testing UTX with FTX Global but apparently I ran into some weird issue. This is not FTX Global issue, either its my sim or UTX -- and I can't figure out. My sim crashed on me while I was playing with some traffic settings with the UTX additional traffic option. Now if I turn that feature off, I get zero road ai traffic in the sim - did it mess up some file during the time when FSX crashed or that is how it is done with UTX. Does the additional traffic feature controls all of the road AI, now? Or is some file locked? Thoughts, comments and feedback will be great. I am tired of resinstalling the sim all over again for this weird issue. …

Greetings: Is it possible to save your FSX control settings (calibration, button / keys & control axis) ? Further, will selecting the default settings reset ALL settings from ALL settings pages (calibration, button / keys & control axis), or will it only set those on the page selected ? I am hoping it's possible to save the settings file. Thank you, WilloW

For example, let's say I'm doing a long haul flight from VHHH to KLAX, and about 1/4 way through the flight, can I save this and load it back up later so that my aircraft will be in the same exact way as I left it and resume my flight? Was wondering if this will work on complex planes like PMDG's?

Hey folks, Been an FS9'er much longer than FSX even though I got FSX with a bunch of add ons before FS9. I decided to try FS9 last year and got hooked on the smoothness. Since then, I tried FSX a few more times, including DX10 with fixes. In DX10 it was working pretty good, but I couldn't stay on it because I have a lot of Aerosoft add ons and I get blank textures on some of the custom airport and road vehicles. The thing that really bugged me about FSX until I got it figured out is the stutters/micro stutters and overall low FPS. I noticed that setting the priority of TrackIR to High makes a HUGE difference on my PC. I wonder what is the best way of permanently changing the priority of TrackIR to High. I know about Prio but I don't like adding (too much) programs to my system... I also have no clue at ALL if Prio takes up resources. Are there any other ways to fix the priority setting or is Prio the only solution?

I just downloaded this file called DxtFixer for FS9/FSX. It sounds interesting but this is the first time I have heard about this issue. From the Readme: "This tool fixes the stutters in FS9/FSX caused by dxt3 and dxt5 textures without an active alpha channel." "It's perfectly safe to use, as only dxt3 and dxt5 compressed bitmaps will be searched and modified. And they should ALWAYS have an alpha channel, so you can't do anything to mess up your sim." I am experiencing some strange behaviors in FSX. I am using my xbox 360 controller to fly, and I use the right analog stick to move the view point around while I'm in the virtual cockpit. For example, I'll fly down to Hawaii, and upon take off ill move the analog stick to the right to look over the right side out of my cockpit's window to see the beautiful ocean. While I'm holding the analog stick to the right to keep that view, it'll reset back within a few seconds. Why is this? This never happened before. I'm thinking there's a camera setting that may have changed the behaviour or perhaps the EZdok Camera add-on is the cause of this? I have installed a fresh co…

Hey all, I've just started getting this horrible graphics anomoly, on every flight (I am flying in FTXG here, near Dar Es Salaam, in Africa) :- I switched to DX10 a few days ago, (with all fixes applied) but had no problems initially ....... this just started today. Any clues ? I'm using a i7 2600k on Win 7 64 bit, and a ATI 7850 2GB card. FTXG / DX10 / SweetFX is in use here - but it's also happening with SweetFX OFF too, so don't think thats to blame. I am using GSX and have activated pushback but it's telling me to turn on APU. Could someone be kind enough to show me how to do this? My 737 has been loaded with the default panel start. So engines are on and everything, ready to go.

Trying to clean up my aircraft stable last night (too late at night to try to do such things), I accidentally highlighted many planes listed in alphabetical order in my SimObjects, Airplane folder.....and started to delete. I thought I had targeted only one plane. When I saw the gigs starting to disappear, I quickly cancelled the delete. However, many excellent planes had gone to the recycle bin. I did a restore on the recycle bin, but the restore wasn't complete by any means. I then did a computer restore, and that helped a little bit. Hi noticed recently that as I taxi parallel to a runway the lines that define the edge of the runway are a bit jagged and flicker I am not using dx10. I use Rex essential +of and fs global on a 680 gtx. X 3 monitors Its nothing major but if anyone could suggest perhaps if there is a tweak in inspector to stop this ? Regards

I'm this close to giving up on flight simulation for good since there seems to be no way around the endless number of problems. I want to start a flight and it usually takes me an hour, not to set it up but because of one problem or other with fsx, and I'm sick of it. I want to fly, but not at the cost of my sanity. There is nothing that can support my fsx aircraft and scenery, that is more stable so my only option seems to live with the fact that it takes 5 hours to fly for 20 minutes, or just can the whole idea in the first place. Unless anyone else has an idea on what I could do?
