MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum

I read that it is not suggested to install FSX into the default directory which is c:/ProgramFiles(x86)/MicrosoftGames/MicrosoftFlightSimulator. In my case,I use Windows 7 They suggest to create a special directory,ex: c:/FSX and install FSX into that. How can I force MFS to get installed into c:/FSX ? I install it from the DVD's MicroSoftFlightSimulator Deluxe Edition. Your help is appreciated H. Werni

I've been trying to program the reverse thrusters using a button on my Saitek Throttle. The task I pick is " decrease throttle " . Oddly that works, but I can't find the right task to cut them off. I have exactly the same problem using my keys.

With the future of technology it is interesting to say with this being available to us that it really changes the way we enjoy our flight sims. I see developers making really cool apps that interact with FSX, X-Plane, etc that makes the experience a whole lot better. There are flight planning apps, efb's, now even virtual FMC's that we can all use on our iPad's and other tablet devices with our fingers. I am really hoping developers out there will start to target this market and make more cool stuff, such as gauges like the Garmin GNS 430/530, G1000's. RealityXP and Mindstar have already made that step, now lets hope they or someone else can take this to the next lev…

I'm talking about the prime issues with this software which is the high price tag, critical issues that keep being not fixed/added after a years time, and the nearly total lack of support / responds from dev, Mr. Marniftar. Btw, I had to post here, because they keep deleting posts in the flight1 forum. Any post that might deter customers from shedding 35$, then finding out the issues, is being deleted. Hi guys, untill yesterday SweetFX 1.4 works perfectly in my FSX DX10, all preset I tried out load without any issues. Then I installed and unistalled SweetFX Configurator and FlightFX (a graphic user interface, just to try). Same issue, without any apparent loading preset in FSX. Before work great! So I unistalled completely SweetFX from main FSX folder and reinstall it from scratch, configure properly target path to preset folder like before: #include "/SweetFX/Presets/mypreset.txt" but when I fire up FSX nothing happens, i push ScrollLock to toggle on/pff but nothing. I have a day off right now. Somewhere around 10.30 AM I started to check this forum and the Orbx one. After that I wanted to do a flight, sit outside in the sun a little, watch a movie and then fly again, after checking the forums once more, and all that before having some coffee at 14.30 PM. It's 14.33 PM right now and I am still keeping up with new posts, posting some screenshots on request, solving problems, giving my opinion about certain things... I have yet anther issue, not sure what's happening with my FSX at the moment! Anyway, when I generate a 'new' cfg file, I thought that FSX would ask again wether you wanted to 'trust' x, y , z You then said yes or no. Am I correct on that assumption? If so then I don't get that; FSX just adds them back in to the cfg. how do I stop that happening and where does FSX get that information from. I need to see what I should 'trust' as I'm currently having an issue with some items. Also, while I'm here. I was going through my planes today, and I thought... "how come there are no -ER models?" I'll give a couple examples of aircraft that are missing -ER models. 1. PMDG 747-400 Where is the B747-400ER? 2. PMDG 737-900 How come there is no B737-900ER? 3. CS 767-300 The 767-300ER is a very common model of the 767-300, therefore it should be available to fly. The ERJ-145 by Feelthere has all the models... the ERJ-145, the ERJ-145LR, and the ERJ-145XR.

LOL maybe by then your average mid range computers will actually be able to run FSX with full settings. It looks like the new Weather Map generation may be hogging the disk and causing some short delays within the simulator, resulting in a drop in frame rates. I have now pushed this process into the background so that it will not have any adverse effect on the simulator's performance. The new release will also provide a Background GRIB Processing option to give users the choice of either a fast GRIB processing with delays in the sim, or a slower GRIB processing and minimal delays. The GRIB processing is only performed on the ground prior to the flight so this should not cause any problems. I will post a new Release, Version 3.21, tomorrow just in case the above GRIB and…

I have and enjoy Aerosoft's Twin Otter X. I am interested in purchasing their Extended version and I would greatly appreciate the opinions of folks who now have both. I believe the new Extended version is a more complex model with additional features. Does anyone notice any changes in the FDE? How about sounds? More virtual cockpit functionality - switches, etc? In short, given your experience with the Twin Otter X, does the Twin Otter Extended "feel" any different?

In my new build I haven't installed Avast! which has been my default a/v software. I'm not doing any web browsing per se, but I do visit Avsim & REX, & nVidia, and perhaps make a purchase at one of the flight sim vendors. I keep Defender updated and running if going to these sites, but disable it when using FSX. I run malwarebytes maybe once a week as well. I'm thinking I'm pretty safe if I stick to these FS sites, but what's your take on this? Like to have as little running on this install as possible so would prefer to forego Avast! or other freeware A/V app.

France VFR has now autogen packs or add-ons that will lay on top of their photoreal scenery to make an extremely realistic looking world. I wish more photoreal scenery makers would somehow incorporate this feature into their existing products. Hi, I would have never of known how addictive this hobby can be! having started out with the default traffic and recently added some commercial traffic I am now reading all about this lovely scenery that can be had but I don't really know which way to turn as there is quite a lot available. I have been reading on the forums about the latest one called FTX Global, My system is a few years old now so I am a bit concerned that I am maybe getting myself into something that my system wont be able to handle, I do run around 35 FPS when in the air with the default scenery which I am happy with. Will I be able to run scenery on my set up? and if so can you recommend…

Hi all,I'm thinking of buying the CS727 (my favorite aircraft of all time!) but I have read of quite a few bugs, things like incorrect flap settings, dodgy autopilot, sound issues etc.Have these been fixed? Also I read that the flight model isn't exactly 100%; being as I was going to fly from a RW performance manual, is it at least reasonable in terms of EPR settings etc?Thanks guys.Richard

By the way I did try to login to the sim forum, but a cookie problem won't let me in. For the most part 90% it is really great, but I was wondering how you doggle between, 'Joystick button for inverse' ? I saw a couple of videos on setting up EZdok, and the guy assigned the hat key to the different veiws, but also seemed to use the hat key 'J1 btn 54'. @ 3:26 holding what trigger? Which key are you meant to use to trigger the views? The hat key is already taken? Best regards Julian

Hi All, Does anyone know of any scenery that I can get my hands on that is of a private airport. Preferable with a runway long enough to get a 737 in and out of. Looking for something on the west coast of the USA - I'm wanting a little sanctuary where I can fly my aircraft collection (mainly the 737, and assorted WW2 fighters and bombers!) Does anyone know of anything like that? The closest I've found that I like is a (very good!) reproduction of Kermit Weeks' Fantasy of Flight - But Florida is a bit too flat for my tastes, plus the 737 is pretty much a no go! I know the airport is officially dead but I would like to bring it back to life and have AI traffic coming to and from this once amazing airport. I am using Ultimate Traffic 2 and I heard or read somewhere that it's possible to do this by changing the icao code using the UT2 Power Pack? Does anyone know anything about this or could please show me. I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I have been trying to get the story on this new thing FSGenesis has been throwing out there called NextMAP which according to FlightSim renders Europe in a stunning 9.8m Mesh which is incredible detail. Most of us know with high res meshes can come some really bad problems such as the infamous plateauing of airports amongst other undesirable things. I was wondering if anyone has used this and how it stacks up to their previous products as well as FSGlobal Ultimate, anyone?

I purchased some FSGenesis Landclass and Mesh files for FS9 a while ago. Now that I've converted over to FSX I am wondering if these same Mesh and Landclass files will also work in FSX? I tried searching around the forum and Google and only found hints that it should work, but am wondering if anyone has done this or has any definitive answer? Thanks
