So the life on FSX now is about 7 years. Is it really worth while soaking money into it? Thats the one thing I didn't like about switching from FS9 to FSX was there were a lot of add ons worth hundreds of dollars that I couldn't bring with me. I recently finished my basement after a year and finally assembled my computer back together. In a couple days I bought the PMDG 777, Majestic Q400, OPUS weather. So about 200 bux like that. I am wondering if we are getting to the end of the life of FSX where putting more money into might simply be silly. Sooner or later something has to give, like X-plane taking over. It will just take ONE great company like PMDG to start developin…

Hi After reading the soaking money into fsx thread I noticed one of the posts mentioning making a backup of the fsx install. I know I should have done this a long time ago but I've never done this with any installed program, so my question is how do I do it ? especially as I think one day MS will stop me from re validating FSX in the future, by then I may have a new PC and have to do a reinstall .

Hi all,I am using Autoit v3 running a script to load fsx in windowed mode but fullscreen, although its great its runs at the desktop resolution leaving like a 2px white border, and I am wanting the window to bleed over the desktop resolution to hide the white borders. Several of my German friends have informed me of a small program called easy toolz which is supposed to improve FSX performance by isolating the first two cores in a multi core cpu. I have really no idea what they are talking about and am reluctant to experiment with such a program. Can anyone shed some light on this ie. is the program safe, is it a download or does it come with Windows 7.

Is it possible to change the "Coolie" hat button up/down sensing? I have it configured for 'Pan' but it actually works backwards: to pan up I have to push the 'hat' forward. To pan down I have to pull back on the 'hat'. This isn't the normal directional sensing. It should work the same was as electric trim: push forward for nose down and pull back for nose up. Can I change this axis sensing somewhere? Thanks...

Hi all happens to me this strange problem. It seems that the cfg file does not save the settings max load textures. After several hours of flight happens what you see in the screenshot and to put things back to normal I have to reinstall the textures of AS2012. Reinstalling the textures AS2012 tells me that the cfg file is set to baseline levels. It 's very annoying having to reinstall the textures every week but I do not know how to fix it (assuming that the two things are connected) Thanks for the help

Lets say I want to plan a route, not using nats because I'm going in the opposite direction of traffic, from EDDF to KORD Will PFPX give a realistic routing?

I have recently bought the B29 (it's not an A2A B377 but really enjoying the challanges) and in days gone by the F-111 and B1B. "Value for money" all very well worth it. On searching numerious sites I cannot find a forum where simmers with Virtavia products share their experiences and tweaks, can someone point me in the right direction. Thank you.

Just curious has anybody bought any airport addons from imaginesim, talking specifically about KCLT/ Charlotte Douglas International, which was released 4/13. I have many airports from FS Dreamtea, FlyTampa, Latin VFR, and Flightbeam. Anybody have an opinion, how this addon from imaginesim, compares to other developers mentioned previously. The screenshots look pretty cool, but you never know until you buy it. It sells for at simmarket at $28.00. Concluding, any thoughts, greatly appreciated, talking about how it stacks against the competition, graphically, and so forth. thanks, Ronny

Hi all, First of all, check my specs on the left While I managed to get a correctly-running FSX (30fps constant, few stutters etc..) I still have a big issue with blurry textures. Here is a very good example (low alt nav, speed around 350/400kts) I also noticed that FSX barely uses any video memory (500MB out of 1536MB max). Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks a lot. Corsair

I have Windows 8. I want to install FSX. I have a WD External Hard Drive 1.5 TB. Can I install FSX there and all the add ons ? If I install it on my C Drive instead, do I really need to keep it out of my (X86 ) Program ? There are numerious articles on the subject , but I want to hear what your opinion is. Thanks

I downloaded and installed the NEW Doha-Qatar airport. I was able to have it nicely displayed right next to the old OTBD airport. However, I was unable to install the ILS files. Is there something that can be done to fix it? Appreciate any help. Thanks

I hope this topic has not yet been discussed. I am trying (any reason) to add an AH (artificial horizon | attitude indicator) instrument to the panel of a glider plane. Let us not discuss if this is "realistic", useful, or a waste of time. I just would like to know how to do this. I know how to install an instrument to a panel in FSX. I know the standard AH instrument requires an engine running to provide a vacuum/suction in order for the AH to run. After all it is working thanks to the gyro characteristics. But, there are obviously "no" engines in a glider, so "no" suction. In real life there are suction-driven gyros and electric ones (for backup purpose…

Is there a way you can limit the cloud layers during real time data input? Meaning, if the data indicates broken clouds, just do one layer of broken clouds and do not render additional clouds above it. Especially flying over Seattle or up North around this time of the year, we have bunch of clouds including overcast layer and all these additional cloud texture rendering are eating up the frame rate on my FSX. I'm new to FSX and have installed PMDG 737NGX. I was wondering if there was a known fix for Shift+1 MCP image being garbled? None of the MCP buttons work. One time, and only one time, did I press Shift+1 and the image displayed fine. After that, it was back to being garbled. The part that is garbled is the PFD and ND displays. It looks like the are squeezed vertically so instead of them being a normal, say, 12 x12 inches, they are 2 inches high (all blurred) and 12 wide. I did a search for this problem but didn't find a previous post. Thanks for any help.

Hi there, I rarely fly above 8,000 feet doing mostly VFR flights. How can I get info (figures) about winds/temps aloft (WTA) for different altitudes along my route? Even though WTA data generated by Opus may differ from real-life data, I would like to be able to use these figures for my pre-flight calculations (speed, WCA, etc.) while on the ground. I could even interpolate them in case Opus cannot provide waypoint-based WTA data (like NOAA's region-based reports) ... Is that possible at all? Thank you!

I do not want to open a long discussion on what ATC is better. Each has its pros and cons. But one thing that is still unsurpassed in ATC default FS2004/FSX, in my opinion, is the quality of the voices and the realism. Now, since it is going to be released P3D 2.0, and then the ATC source code is available for LM developers, do you think could be finally developed a good default ATC with SID / STARs and AIRAC upgradeable, and with a voice quality equal or superior to that which we know? Hi, I have both Active Sky 2012 and OpusFSX installed on my system, I've tried the trial version of FS Global Real Weather aswell. But none of these satisfy me in the simulation of wind and turbulence. I have tested many airports (which I picked from badbadweather.com focusing on the "High wind" and "High gust" reports) and the result in FSX is kind of disappointing to me. The depicted weather seems static to me. I have tried to setup Active Sky 2012 in the most "alive" way I can in the Wx options. Hey, When im going to taxi they tell me to go to runway 16R but how i know wich direction its night, i cant see anything how can i read those taxi sings cus i dont understand them.

I noticed that while using metars that denote a "10sm" visibility that I will never see anything greater than 10 miles vis inside the sim when below the lowest layer of clouds. Now many here know that 10sm in a metar simply means that the vis should be 10sm or greater (so many times you should see 20, 30 or even more miles vis even though the metar says 10sm). But no matter what locations I test this in FSGRW, as long as the metar says 10sm for that location I will always have what appears to be a dismal grey looking visibility of about 10sm out my front window on short final. I'm a nooby and this is my first post so go easy on me I've recently installed a couple of FSX add-ons, to be specific i used REX Essential FTX Central (Northwest America) and GEX Europe I've realized that my machine and graphics card are not powerful enough to run all above with acceptable frames/sec, so i reverted back to the original scenery files thought that in itself deserves another topic post. Hi, Just wondering if you can suggest me the best available ground crew add on? Is GSX - Ground Crew the best ground crew add on so far? Is it compatible with FS2Crew? I downloaded the GSX demo version and noticed that the centre line on the taxiway becoming faint, unclear, or even invisible at EGNT. Is it normal? Will it go away if I buy the full version? N.B.
