hey... one of 'the other guys' (fsgateway) is beta testing a software package that allows us to share our files instead of putting them on a local server (possibly faster download speeds!)?anyone care to discuss the pros and cons?-j

I'm trying to write a simple app to connect to Flight Simulator 2002,but EnumHosts() never finds the session I've created from within thegame.I've tried several of the sample apps in the DirectX 8 SDK, as well asa simple app created with the DirectX AppWizard for Visual C++. Here's the code from the AppWizard: // GUID for FS2002:GUID g_guidApp = { 0x97C62470, 0x5F53, 0x4098, { 0xA8, 0xBB, 0x7F, 0x1F, 0x93, 0xB9, 0x4D, 0x93 } };[p][...][p]// Enumerate hostsDPN_APPLICATION_DESC dnAppDesc;ZeroMemory( &dnAppDesc, sizeof(DPN_APPLICATION_DESC) );dnAppDesc.dwSize = sizeof(DPN_APPLICATION_DESC);dnAppDesc.guidApplication = m_guidApp;[p]// Enumerate all the active DirectPlay g…

Hi,I decided to uninstall FS2K2 the other day. I couldn't use "WipeGauge" any longer, it got stuck for some obscure reason (some kind of badly designed add-on gauge previously installed perhaps...).Anyway, I uninstalled the whole thing and re-installed following a complete defrag.I thought that I got rid of the non-default gauges and aircraft...Much to my surprise, all my previously installed aircraft and gauges were still there...magic!Is there a way to get rid permanently of all that stuff?Advice is appreciated and required !Twister

... I just got a response to some questions from Mr Dolye Nicklessat GoFlight and he said the GF-166 is shipping now. I assume that means to the retail outlets.I gather that he is working on a new software release that will have 5 - 10 assignable functions for the 2 open buttons by nextweek and he will add many more over the next month. I kind of got the impression that the drivers immediately shipping this week don't have those buttons addressed yet.Anyway - looking forward to it showing up the retailer's websites !!Myles

Hi,I've been using FSNav for flight planning and this program has been an invaluable tool. I'm just curious:1. How does the program calculate flight routes? I guess my real question is how does one formulate flight route in reality? How do those airline pilots do it?2. With the advent of GPS, why can't we all simply fly straight to our destinations? In reality and in FSNav, the route is often not straigt especially in those long hauls.3. Quite often I will let the FSNav fly the plan for me, is it realistic? Do modern airlines have computers that can automatically follow preset flight plan?You can probably tell I know very little about aviation. But I'm truly fascinated by…

I finally decided to download Van's MD-88 on the advice of a friend. Im not sorry I spent the 10$ at all. Its a quality aircraft. It has opening front door. A VC (nice but not great) and a decent flight model. The textures are very well done and since I flew this for almost 7 years it was worth it. This is a sunset shot, just out ofAsheville, NC headed home to Atlanta. I have a nice MD EFIS cockpit for this so she is pretty darn complete. I highly recommend it! I don't think there is a better MD-88 around.http://flightsimmers.net/airport/hornit/88.jpg

I have the Carenado Bonanza, and I believe that it uses the default 182 sounds. I was told that I could use the Mooney sounds with it instead - how do I change this?Thanks,Steve :-wave

I have choices from these 3.Can anybody help me with this?Vetro GF3 - $139 (179-40 rebate)Xtasy GF3 TI200 64MB - $119(149-30 rebate)MSI GF3 TI200 128MB - $150All in US$.Which will be my best choice considering the price?I know GF3 is faster than GF3 TI200, but would 128MB GF3 TI200 be better? (even it's not better for FS2002, how about in other games)Please allow me to ask this in FS2002 forum as I will be mainly using it for FS2002, and it takes forever to get one response.My ATi card has problems with my current chipset, but Nvidia chip has no problems at all,so I finally decided to say BYE to ATI after 2 years using it (RADEON 64MB DDR VIVO)I am not looking for perfoma…

I thought I remember reading somewhere were say the callsign for US Air would have to read Us air for it to be recognized because FS2002 only recognized the first letter as being a capital. Is this true? for instance TWA would have to be spelled Twa in the airlines.cfg file?thanksEric

Hi all simmers,today I noticed that I do not get taxi- and landing-lights from inside the MS-default Cessna 182R RG cockpit. From outside everything works fine. The second thing I have noticed, my default Cessna 182R RG has no Virtual Cockpit. Have you noticed the same?Best Regards and safe flights!Holger (German Eagle) SchleenhainRuesselsheim (near EDDF):-wave GERMANY :-wave____________________________________________________________________Windows XP Prof.AMD Athlon 1330 DDR-266; ASUS A7A266; 512MB-DDRASUS AGP-V8200 T5 Pure (nVIDIA gFORCE3 Ti 500) 64MB DDR-SDRAM, Det. 23.11SB PCI 512CH Flight Sim Yoke USB CH Pro Pedals USBGoFlight-user

Look at the brooklyn bridge...you can clearly tell its from fs 5.0. and look at that horrific thing they call jfk airport...from fs 5.0. All the bridges in the area look like matchstick bridges. please please any scenery developers...please do new york city. the fs2000 empire state building looks more realistic. see for yourself please help.thanksmoses

I just received a gift from my wife - a Visiontek GF4 TI4600/128MB DDR! I have been using a GF2 Ultra/64 MB. My system is a P4 1.4GHz with 256MB RAM, running Windows ME.Three questions:Should I keep the card, or swap for another brand of GF4?What are the drivers that everyone has had the most success with on WinME with card?What's the best way to migrate from the GF2 Ultra that came with my Dell Dimension 8100 to the new VisionTek?Thanks!Wayne

I am running an Athlon V77 MOB at 1050 MhZ (100BUS) with an ASUS geforce pro 2 (64mb)and 256MB RAM. What would you folks recommend as optimum display and hardware settings? Desktop is 1k x .7k 16bit and directx 8.1BTW< I can set BIOS to 1400 and 133 BUS but I get video artifacts along the runway, with rain and generated buildings around large airports.

As some of you may be considering a hardware upgrade, let me be the first to steer you away from Value Express (www.gameve.com). This "basement" operation deals in sales of OEM and refurbished goods but advertises them as full retail products. No matter what they tell you - they are NOT NEW RETAIL PRODUCTS. I got snookered into the pricewatch.com low-price vortex and didn't dig deep enough into this company's "fine print". Only after I received my D.O.A. Ti4400 in 'custom packaging' did I investigate further.I may have saved 20-30 bucks by choosing this sleaze vendor, but it will cost me at least that much in shipping costs to RMA the dead card back tot leadtek for wa…

Two questions: 1) How can the panel lighting be dimmed, and 2) how can the parking brake indication be deleted? I have done both following someone's instructions some months ago but now, for a new installation, I cannot remember what I did.

Hello everybody. I tried 23.12 last night, and I grabbed an XP compatible version but my computer didn't seem to like it. It set everything to lowest resolution and color depth after I restarted. Anybody with the GeForce2-MX400 using Windows XP, can you tell me what you're using? Thanks.:-sun1

Well -- at least by me!! :)I am a bit surprised that we do not hear more of this aircraft in this forum . It has a certain something about it -- can't really describe it. I think the external model could look better , the VC is kind of OK, the 2d panel is very good and the sounds are great! But , overall, it is one of the few aircraft that makes me feel like I am really flying an aircraft --- not that I would know of course!! Never flown one in my life ! But -- it has that something , which if I fly it for long enough, I start to get images of "Raiders of the Lost Arc", "633 Squadron" , "Dambusters" . After a while, I start to feel like I am starring in my own B gr…

the release date for the Cessna 421 Golden Eagle from FLightOne? Really looking forward to that addon. Also looking at picking up those Cats that just became available. Wondering if anyone has picked those up yet, and maybe could offer a little insite as to how well they were done. I was a little disappointed in the version that Abacus released.Thanks,JohnnyKTUS
