Hey guys!I flew on a real plane yesterday! It was my very first flight in a small plane. It was a 2000 Cessna 172SP Skyhawk. The instructor, Joe, did a preflight, and told us everything he was doing. I liked the fuel/water test, and of course-the fresh smell of nice octane fuel. :) Then... flight time.I was expecting to sit in the right-but to my surprise I was directed to the left seat. The preflight was very simple. The fuel pump was loud!! I started the engine-very easy, taxied and did some brake tests an turns, then we stopped at a location close to the hold short and tested the systems before taking off-kind of odd why we did it then. Hi folks,I have tried a search on this and scoured recent postings too, but what I would love is a way to have the default VC with any addon 747-400, it would be the best of both worlds:), such as The Posky one or whatever.I am getting a bit of a thrill lately from trying out the heavy metal again after being a fan of singles and twin props in recent months, I guess me buying FSNAV is bringing that back to to fore, lol!Also the 737 & 777 as well of course;)Appologies if I missed a relevant posting on the subject, haven't had much time lately to keep up to date with any goings on in this regard.CheersDave

To all of you:1) can (must) i use speed brakes for long time during descent for mantaining a specific airspeed? Or maybe i have to brake from time to time?2) how can i get a reference (distance) when landing on a ILS/GS Rwy w/o DME and w/o any VOR-NDB stations around?Thanks a lotLuigi ;-)

Hi to all.......Just went and downloaded the FALCON 50...followed the instructions in the "Read me file"...installed just fine into FS2002 main folder and all the guages are where they belong in the FS2992 guages folder...but..when I go to fly the bird most all the guages are not present ??..any help would be appreciated...ThanksJim

I have noticed that alot of developers have hinted at making a gmax A340. for instance, Freeware Flight Group has one in development, I read it on their site sometime ago. I have read that POSKY is making one, which is the one I can't wait for considering i am a big fan of their aircraft :). Also Simubuild and Airbus Virtual are designing a A340-600. There is also Mark Harper's A340 which I use now. The ProMax A340s are good w/ frame rates, but the fuselage needs to be rounder I think. All the A340s is a good thing, considering it used to be that you couldn't find a very good one. p.s. Is anyone going to repaint Mark Harper's A340-300 in Virgin Atlantic Livery?

I am currently using a PIII 800mhz system, 256 RAM, with a GeForce 2, 64 meg graphics card.For the most part, everything runs acceptably well with only a minor jerkiness when I am in a high graphics area, such as one of the downloaded airports with lots of eye candy.It's going to be some time before I can afford to upgrade to a stronger processor (few things more fun than flying but heart medicine is more important, not to mention expensive).However, I have another computer sitting idle until I can replace the kaput monitor that it's hooked up to, again, will be some time.It also has a 256 memory card in it that is the same as the card in the computer I am now using. I recently bought an X45 and have had problems setting it up for fs2002. When I look at joystick properties the main axis is not steady. Although this does not cause real problems with fs2002, when playing bob I can actually see the control surfaces vibrating. The main problem when playing fs2002 is when I allocate trim to one of the rotaries. I can then see the trim wheel in the cockpit moving up and down and the there is some jerkiness when I turn the rotary.Does anybody else have similar problems with the x45? My old ms precision 2 was completely steady in output so I am very disappointed with the Saitek. I have tried various drivers and have been in contact with saite…

I've noticed a few runways with no markings on except a yellow X at the end... I'm guessing that these are runways that have been taken out of use, am I correct?

Just a word. Got my Pro Anaglyph Glasses, and must say they are fanatsic, and much better than my homemade pair, and find I really don't colour at all. I have better 3D depth, and are much clearer than my homemade pair of RED/BLUE glasses, and much less ghosting. Ok, first of all, I get no text and cannot use ctrl [ to make the instructor repeat herself.Nonetheless, I can make out most of what she's saying.However, after the missed approach and arriving at PARKK, I'm instructed to climb to 3000 and go direct to SEA (116.8)... once I get there, nothing happens until I get notice of failure.Huh?I don't think she said anything about holding at PARKK.Andrew

Here's how to get Mike Stone's FS2K Saab340B to fly with no freeze when gear are raised.First, you need a version of Mike's FS2K Saab340B. Let's select the Northwest Airlink version and download the snw34013.zip archive from AVSIM. This version has all the moving parts that one could expect from a FS2K model and it looks great. After the download, unzip the archive to a temporary folder and delete everything EXCEPT the texture folder. That is, save only the texture folder, you won't need anything else from this archive. First off I want to say this is a very nice aircraft. I have had to convert the textures a bit for best system performance, but otherwise great.A problem I am having is when entering airport ID's. On the third character the "Error Report" screen appears, then I'm dumped to desktop.Any comments would be appreciated.Thanks!!Bob C.

G'day all!I utilize, in almost all cases, Getright software to manage my downloads.I have been downloading a lot of material from AVSIM library files but today, and this has happened before in the past, I am getting no link.Each attempt to connect results in a window popping up as such;:Message from FTP Server#########.zip: No such file or directoryDoes AVSIM perhaps change the location of the files periodically so that, after a few days, where GetRight is looking for them, they are no longer found?Regards,Heather

Hey all, I have a couple of questions regarding GeForce video cards and settings that you use. I have tried a couple of different 'tweak' programs to improve the looks of my sim and currently, I'm using a program called GeForce Tweak Utility. It gives a lot of options, but I'm not really happy with the way it makes FS look, it's almost cartoonish. I'm using a VisionTek GeForce3 Ti200 with an AMD 1.33 gig processor, and at one time, when I took screenshots, it looked really nice, almost real. Since I've used this program, the screenies don't look as good, so I was wondering if any of you could give me a list of what you have checked and unchecked for options, if you us…

Just installed this freeware package freshly available on Avsim. The product claims to include 82 airports in Hungary. The FS2002 tells me there are 18 airports in Hungary. But even among those 18 I mostly see plain grass field and if there is any paved runway - looks like a plain default airport. Does anyone have a clue what's going on here ?By the way. Nowhere is there any contact info for the author. The installation itself runs very professionally - too bad there is little to show for.Michael J.
