I use a late-1996 DELL P2, upgraded to a P3, 850Mhz with 32MB DDR card and MX card, FSAA 4x, and a 21" TRINITRON and 17" ViewSonic. FS2k2 sliders set 2/3 or full right and every Display option checkmarked. Frames capped at 18, often 8 to 12 at dense airports and over dense cities, but still quite flyable and viewable. Rich colors and textures, superb lighting effects, etc. PSS and POSKY run slower and SPOT views with those have texture reloading issues. But inside the cockpit runs just great.A friend of mine has an HP P3, 750Mhz, but still uses an STB 16MB 3-D card. With a similar fleet to me, he gets similar fps and very good visuals too (including reflections!) W…

Can anyone tell me in what does VFR flying exactly consists? The reason I'm asking is because I have this tutorial of a virtual airline that tells the following:Departure airfield: LPCS Arrival airfield: LPCVMandatory passage point:FTM(VOR)What do I have to do here?? Does anyone know?I already did this flight but apparently was wrong. What I did was: I set the VOR frequency in the NAV 1 and I followed the radial to the the VOR; from there I left the VOR bound to LPCV and landed with visual procedures.I know these sort of procedures are very easy and maybe that's why I can't undestand them so I would appreciate some help. Thanks Clear skies, Happy landings!!!

So in America this weekend its Labor Day Weekend. The unofficial end of summer and for most people a three or four day weekend. For me, its the last few days before I travel back to Scandinavia. Since I will have to spend most the weekend stuck around the house entertaining family, I think that I will take a little virtual flight. I think that I will start in Atlanta and travel to Boston. Then from Boston to Chicago, and then to Salt Lake City, and finally down to San Diego. So I ask you...Where are you planing to fly this weekend?[div align=center][link:members.cox.net/fstimes/wetimage.html]Click Here For Weather Image of the Day!

HiI've been having some problems with my CH FS YOKE and it's throttle control interfiring with authrottle. So i have to disengage the whole Joystick during flight if using autoflight in order to let the autothrottle control the gas normally. But this way i loose all the J preset buttons, including the hat switch which let me change views etc. So it would be just nice to disengage the throttle lever from the joystick during flight. Does anyone knows how to do that, in case if possible of course..ThanksHUC

  9. I was working this this question last week, but am now wonderingif there are any other answers.Does mipmapping have to be turned on to get sharp head on views of the plane models? If so then are you also not experiencing the shimmering/pixelation of the terrain textures? My setting for this shot are GF4-ti4600 Det 29.42, 4xAA, LOD = -.1 Thru GTU I have 16 tap ansio. The top picture is when I turn mipmapping off in FS2002 Display Hardware Options. The bottom picture is with it turned on.With the top picture I get the shimmering/pixelated terrain.Am I missing something or is this the tradeoff? The 2nd set of pictues again shows mipmapping off on topand on in the bottom. - it is…

In 2k2, some of my helicopters have (suddenly) lost their rotors. Huey & Chinook primarily, others fine. They are still in the texture files, and show when engines are off, but nothing otherwise. Re-loading the helos didn't help. I'm thinking a dll or some-such file fell out of my puter...whatever animates those textures in those helos. Without having to re-install 2k2, is there a way to discover "which" file and re-load just it?

Hi All,I am experiencing hiccups in FS these times. It wasn't in the past. These hiccups are very ennoying and most visible in the "Spot" plane view and are going together with a disk access. Has someone a solutionfor it? The "timed" disc accesses are only while FS2002 is active and even when the plane is "parked" with no changes whatsoever in the scenery. Thanks in advance,hm

  12. I guess I won't have to use an exclude to eliminate all of FS2002's baseball stadiums. The players can go back to making 10 million a year, and I can go back to making...ahhh...less than that. :)BTW....anyone remember FU2/FU3? I remember if you managed to land in the stadiums included with those sims, you'd hear the sounds of either a football game or a baseball game in the background. I offer that as a challenge--I'd bet someone could do it with the effects SDK....-JOhn

I'm using Windows XP and when I use some old FS2002 planes, and I turn on the lights, the lights are gigantic. It's happened with a few Project Freeware planes, and the Project Airbus A300. I did download the new model for the Project freeware 737's and it didn't make a difference. I also tried to fix the model with the model repair utility, but it says the model is OK, so it won't allow me to update it. Is there a fix top these enormous aircfraft lights?TIMMAY!!!

Hello Gang! After reading the documentation and the forums, I've been able to get the Dash-8 off the ground and I've been able to get over some of the initial issues reported, however, there are some problems I am still encountering and I need help. Here they are:1. The Autopilot Heading, Alt, and IAS buttons do not light up and you do not know if they are engaged or not. Anyone noticed this?2. 9 out of 10 times my engines will quit upon landing or bringing the power to idle just before touchdown. I can hear a nasty noise and the "bang" - there they go!3. Taxiing this beast is not easy! I have a CH USB yoke with the imbedded throttle and props and such and as soon a…

No matter what I try to do to fix it, Bill Grabowski's ERJ panel just won't work correctly in FS2002. Someone before mentioned panel updates for FS2002, but they were at fsnordic.com, which is currently down :(. Can anyone point me towards these updates at another site, or email them to [email protected]? Thanks!

G'Day!I want to thank the myriad of people who have messaged/emailed me with complimens on our (the DDG) release of the Grumman Duck. The nice emails makes all of the headaches and pulling of hair worthwhile. However, I have also been receiving a lot of compliments for the water landing FX. They really do look nice don't they. Except that I cannot take credit for that.Waterland_FX is a creation of Bob Tremblay (mentioned in the credits section of my Readme file) and is available over at:www.fsfreeware.comThis can be added to ANY waterborne aircraft and even adjusted in size to be appropriate to the size of the aircraft producing it.Just wanted the kudos for that to go to …

I've been reporting my own trials and tribulations over the last two months as I transition to real world flight after about 3000 hours of simulator time. As I've stated, the sim has prepared me in a myriad of ways for flying lessons. Practicing procedures over and over in my home cockpit after each lesson improves my flying to a huge degree. As I mentioned in my last post, though, I seem to be having trouble getting the proper attitude at landing. I don't have the usual student problems - my landings are extremely consistent, I flare at the proper altitude with good speed management, good alignment, and compensate well for crosswind, etc. It's just that I land too flat. …

I've been having a real dilemma about where to make short, interesting flights recently.I like the BFU pages and there are some great ideas for flights, with great background context and scenery. But I find it's predominantly alaskan flying. Nothing wrong with that, but I need some variation.I'd appreciate some hints on cool flights. Interesting scenery... something around an hour at a time... or even less. Or interesting/unusual places? I enjoy departures and approaches and some interesting, varied navigation, rather than direct gps flying. The potential of the VFR flights pages here at AVSim is immense, but they seem to be seriously overlooked. http://www.avsim.com/v…

Just downloaded Mr.Frolov goodlooking Dash 8, but when I choose it from the aircraft in my FS2002Pro (under windows xp), it crashes FS2002 saying it's a prob. with the dash8all.gau file. I have E-mailed Mr.Frolov with the problem and wonder if others will have a similar problem. Might be a WIndows XP thing, as usual.

Quick question to you all...Does having McAfee virus scan running in the background cause MSFS2002 to crash. Recently all my flights are crashing by freezing up either with or without a loud jammed noise. If my virus scanner should'nt cause the sim to crash, does anybody know of other applications or software that would cause a crash (especially so often?). It's only started happening post the scanner install....but then again, I have also loaded other games....Many thanks in advanceMatt
