Introducing Version 8! The latest changes include: VATSIM friendly (this is cool!), SquawkBox start sequence, sample online ATC transmissions, entire document is in .pdf format, FMC programming now integrated into the checklist, RTO integrated into checklist, climb power procedure improved, weather changes, and eliminated the standby power test (by popular demand). The checklists are a combination of normal and non-normal checklists as well as reference information for the DreamFleet 737. They are highly accurate and detailed based on all of the docmentation provided with the model, real commercial carrier 737 operation manuals, and real 737 simulator experience. This fil…

I am a total novice when it comes to graphics cards so I was wondering if anyone can give me some helpfull information about my question. I have at the moment a Nvidia Riva TNT 2 Model 64 Pro and was wanting to get a Geforce4 TI4200 with 128Mb. I was just wondering if there would be a large improvement in terms of framerates and visual quality for FS2002. I have a Time computer with a AMD1300Mhz Processor, 80GB hard drive and 512Mb RAM. Would the Geforce improve the sim? I realise that there have been posts like this in the past but I would appreciate any help on this or a comparison between the two. Thanks for your time and I hope you can help!(p.s. The card I have a…

I would just like to make a comment on the trend that I have been noticing with the MS Flight Simulator General Discussion Forum. I think there are too many posts about hardware and computer issues that do not belong in this forum. I feel that lately the majority of the posts in this forum are being targeted towards computer performance or video card issues that are not directly related to Microsoft Flight Simulator. I understand that these posts are related to the performance of MS FS, but there is a separate forum for these kinds of question. I feel that the staff at avsim should redirect or remove these postings until people starting posting them in the correct for…

The following kickbutt system was built from scratch at a cost of $1,200. The machine is dedicated to FS2002 Pro and NO other programs are loaded. All reasonable preload Win2000 services disabled. Why this brute force? To get decent frame rates at the Wilco airports. Well, there is no hope folks. With all sliders maxed and everything checked that would affect framerates the best the kid could get was 12. TWELVE fps!!!!!! With one of the most powerful systems you can put together, this is all you can get unless you back off the sliders. However, the rest of the FS2002 world is beautiful. SMOOOOOOTH. The USA Boston Scenery was awesome. I had to lock dowm the framerates at 30…

Fresh this morning are a smathering of GFFX reviews including benchmarks and comparisons to its competitor the ATI 9700 pro.NVnews.com is a good jumping off point to all of the available reviews as they become uh...available. :-rollThough these are reviews based on the reference card not the final retail boxed version and as noted the drivers have yet to mature, there is plenty to see as to what this card will offer.I present my FS2k2 tainted view...of the reviews of the GFFX card and conclude a few things:1. Along with the ATI9700 pro we can now enjoy FS2k2 at very tolerant FPS levels while using 4x AA combined with 4x Aniso at fairly high res while running the more CPU …

I posted on the forum a week ago to ask whether my CPU was running to high (80C under pressure, 69C idling,) all who kindly responded said it was. Uwe recommended the 25db "Arctic Super Silent" but apparently they are not readily available in the UK. Are any of you UK based simmers able to suggest which heat sink unit can reduce my 80C temperature on my AMD XP 2100+? My local PC store told that they have a

Being a part of the flight simulator community is always an interesting way to spend my time, and I enjoy the many resources available on the internet. I've found alot of great add-ons that are absolutely free and I've also purchased some nice aircraft for FS2002 in recent months. One of the online providers of add-on aircraft is Carenado.com, which has a couple of free aircraft as well as the ones they charge money for. I'm sure at least a small percentage of you have heard of Carenado. I've actually purchased 4 of Carenado's aircraft with an average price of $17 each. However, I've never had the...uh... displeasure of communicating with Carenado until recently. Theref…

Hi All, When using the default flight planner on 2K2 is it possible to assign altitudes for diffent way points so that a stepped climb can be instructed by ATC? If it is not possible is ther any addon flight plan creator that i could use to fufill this and then migrate the plan into 2K2 so that ATC can command a stepped climbout?CheersDaren

The thread on "tough" approaches has me wondering about something. Many of the "tough" or "dangerous" approaches are pretty much one way affairs. That is, the approach is about the only way in, regardless of which way the wind is blowing. So what happens if the winds on approach are tailwinds? In real life, will one make the approach if it is possible? Obviously, one would rather land into the wind than with the wind, but what if that's just not possible? The reason for asking is that ATC in FS2002 seems oblivious to things like mountains. In the past few days, I've flown two "dangerous" approaches in FS2002 where ATC tried to herd all traffic to the opposite runway …

Simple question....What do you think is the hardest? My vote is VOR/DME - GPS-C into Aspen, CO.Absoultely ugly! Anytime they have a localizer specifically there to avoid terrain you know it's hairy. Plus you gotta love being dumped off 1.5miles from the runway 3000' above TDZE.

dear flightsimmers from the FFG group, i was wondering if your new 737-900 is still a old fsds 1 model or a new GMAX or fsds 2 model, i hope it is the last with al the new features, FSDS 2 is capable of. i hope there will be new models from your 737-800 and 737-700, because, you have to agree with me, the 737 models now on the site are from a long tme ago and so far from up to date. Don't get me wrong, i admire you because of developing planes for us, so a big cheer!!!Best regards, martijn worst
