Well, here goes again I am among one of those who is still runing windows 98SE and would like to take a plunge upgrading to XP pro, hoping to gain some benefit from more performance and stability the XP provides. Here are some of my questions. I use my computer mainly for FS2002 (and other flight sims) Video editing and general office work, general entertainment and webpage creation1. Is it better to format my harddrives in NTFS, will it gives better performance than FAT32? And can all programs I run on FAT32 be able to run on NTFS? (if so, will it gives better performance?)2. Is the OS more stable? For example if there is one program lockup in XP can…

When an FS Navigator flight plan gives you a heading is that heading a true heading or is it a magnetic heading that has taken magnetic variation into account? Thanks.Bill Huntsman

I hve started using Eurowings Pro A319 and FS2K2 crashes when I am on line with VATSIM, ACARS & ACtiveSKY and I get a message that Module GDI.EXE is to blame.Can any one help with a fix to this problem?

FSW,On one of the other flight sim sites, there was an anouncement of a new version 2.4. When I visit the web site it is still 2.3 My ? is when is 2.4 gonna be released? The announcement doesn't say anything about availability. Just curious...Thanks, Scott

Hi,Has anyone downloaded the excellent Cloe 747 panel today from AVSIM?Excellent that is if one can get it to work properly. It keeps freezing FS2002. Has anyone been able to get it to work correctlyand if so how did you do it. Did you have to change anything. Hello Simers,I am missing some instruments for my goose panel upgrade from Dorian Davis. Even the update he issued is not giving me all the ones I am missing, such as airspeed, rpm, and all the instruments in the upper cluster near the throttles. I do like to fly by the seat of the pants, but, I like to check now and then to make sure my seat is giving me the proper feed back and that those pants are keeping me in a decent flight attitude so I do not scandalise anyone.....How can I get some instruments in there please. At least to fill the holes and keep mom feel more secured.I could not get a hold of the designer, so please help me fix my butt.Flatspin_Fumble

After proving to myself that FS2002 models airframe icing (I flew through heavy iciing conditions to near stall, and then discovered the IceAccum=2.67 in the saved flight file. Gosh I hope that isn't inches! ;)Anyway, FS2002 does not model visual changes to the airframe for Icing conditions (at least not for the KingAir). So is there a downloadable guage, or other indicator that can be used to tell how much if any ice you have accumulated so you know to deploy the icing boots, or anti-ice system? Using it all the time reduces AirSpeed, and increases fuel consomption and is not realistic.Even using it in suspected icing conditions isn't particularly realistic.

I purchased summer/fall/winter and saw the announcement here at Avsim that Spring would be coming at no additinal cost. I sent info specified to the email provided and have heard nothing even though announcement here says 3 season owners have already been notified on how to get the spring textures. Has anyone been told how to get the spring FScene? Have I been left out?

Help...for some unknown reason I can no longer load FS 2002. It seems to stall at the main screen. When I press Ctrl Alt Del it indicates the program is not responding. Any suggestions how can get the program to boot up????????? Many thanks in advance.Richard

Hello,I have a problem with a very good c141 cockpit.If i look to either side and then return to the front view the side cockpit view is behind the front view.I can get rid of it by selecting front view again but i would really like to solve this as it is the only problem with this excellent cockpit.Any help greatly appreciated.CheersRussell

Just to let you know Ive just been reading an interesting thread on the lago forum where someone was experiencing blurry ground textures at Emma field and basically the problem was solved because his aircraft textures setting in FS2002 was not set at massive even though I always thought that didnt have any effect on scenery but just the planes so if any of you guys experience the same problems with Emma Field and Georender 3 read this thread which Im about to link to and let me know if it managed to help anyone out. is it worth to overclock the vid card?I have a Gforce 2 64MB card and i noticed that some utilities (say Riva tuner) offer a possibility to verclock the card.did anyone try to do it, or is it much risk for little gain?cheers ,HA5

In flying this beautiful freeware a/c by the Dash 7 project team, I find that the gauge for the prop rpm does not reduce from the maximum setting once I am in the air and adjusting power. All other gauges however react and work normally and power adjustments are effective and displayed as such correctly by them. The author of this a/c has been assisting me and at his suggestion I edited the prop section of the cfg file to reflect the alternate data he gave me, but this has unfortunately not made any difference. The prop rpm gauges DOES work properly and reflect power inputs up and down when I am on the ground but once I lift off, the prop rpm gauge seems to be "stuck" …

I recently downloaded a firmware update for my Linksys Router Model BEFSR41 and am now unable to connect to a Multiplayer session. I was on the phone with Linksys for an hour and they sent me a different firmware version and after installing I still cannot connect to a multiplayer session.If I bypass the router and connect the cable modem directly to my PC I am able to connect to multiplayer with no problem.I realize that there must be a setting in the router configuration that is set wrong but am unable to determine what it is.I have DMZ host enabled.I am running WinXP home.Any help would be appreciated.Thank you,Craig [email protected]

What are the vision requirement? I can tell red lights, but green lights appear white to me. Will this prevent me from ever being able to fly?

I'm just curious whether this is true in real life or whether this is another ATC bug in FS 2002:I'm typing this as I'm flying. I filed a flight plan from KJFK to EIDW (Dublin, Ireland) with the following routing:JFK, J225 BOS, J55 SCUPP, J575 YQY. This means that the waypoints are JFK, NEWES, RAALF, PVD, BOS, SCUPP, CANAL, BAXIE, TUSKY, YQI, HIDIG, YHZ, IGTAS, YQY, EIDW.I'm taking off from Runway 31L. As soon as I take off however, FS2002's ATC turns me to 110 with the instruction Resume Own Navigation. To me, this means, as soon as I turn 110, I can turn direct NEWES, which is a course of 065. However, after I complete the turn to 110 and start my turn to 065, ATC …

I noticed this today as I was doing something in the BIOS. Under my PNP config, it says "Primary Graphics Adaptor" and it's set to PCI... should this be AGP? I'm running an AGP card, but I didn't want to change this incase it was something the computer only referenced to startup say in Safemode or something. Will this make any difference in framerates and overall performance with it toggled to AGP? Thanks!
