Flying the Shakyjake Cessna 195. Flightplan: UKKK BASO1R SULUM LIDNO ATREK MURK1A LUKK. Altitude: Climbing from 6,500 to 8,000 MSL 1. About 20 miles North of SULUM, power fell to near or at Idle power. 2. Assumption (Yea, I know): Carb. Icing. Applied Carb. heat with no affect. 3. Spot View: Smoke trailing aircraft, but no flame displayed. 4. Set up for a forced landing. 5. At about 2,000 MSL, smoke went away in spot view, still no power. 6. Landed in a field, engine continued to run, but no throttle control. 7. Shut the engine down (mixture control) and restarted the engine with no problem. 8. Whenever I'm about to enter Class C airspace, the ATC options list shows "Request Class D Airspace Transition". I would understand that if I was already in Class D airspace, but there's no Class D airport near my location. I'm attempting to fly from Class E into Class C, but the Class D transition keeps presenting itself. Thanks to anyone who can straighten me out.

VATSIM can be very rewarding and educational to people looking for an immersive and realistic experience on FSX, but I feel that it is missing a major component of that experience and that is traffic. I know about events and group flights etc. but I'm talking about consistent volume, not the occasional night where you see 10 other planes during a sequence to your destination. For example flying point A to point B across the country you rarely cross paths with another aircraft 1,000 feet above or below so the traffic calls don't exist, and the crew actively scanning out the windows doesn't exist. Hi, i use Virtual cdu and i have just got the new pmdg 737 update, the virtual cdu says that there is a newer version of the 737, so i was wondering if i can some how get the 737 last update that i already have or does anyone know if the virtual cdu will be updated?

So I was landing at Kai tak with the MD11 the other day, and while doing the IGS and already turning, I discovered that to my horror, there were many buildings, but one of them was really tall, like really really tall and from the textures I believe it was a default building. I narrowly missed it and landed poorly. But that said, can anyone try to raise some points as to what caused the issue and possibly provide help?

I'm hoping there's an aircraft design expert here, or at least somone who knows a bit about these things, who can help me fix a problem I've had for some time now and have searched high and low for a fix with no results. I am using MyTrafficX. This is installed on my cockpit system, in FSX, FSX-SE, and Prepar3D. In all three, when observing AI traffic landing (or doing anything really), the landing lights are positioned well above the actual aircraft, in mid-air. Hello all I'm trying to step up my fs seriousness, and after flying the charts&radio (instead of only filing in the fmc and go). However, I'm having problems with understanding, or even more finding the minimums/decision height. I'm using aivlasoft EFB, but (against what the manual says) can't see the decision height in their charts...but when I look at the real charts, I don't understand what number I should choose (category aircraft C &D are possible doe the 737 right?). Hello, I have recently upgraded my system because of low performance issues. My new specs are: i7-3770k @ 4.0ghz, GTX 970 4gb and 8gb Ram, Windows 7 Ultimate My config I've been playing with to work out whats gone wrong and I'm still very unsure as my fps can be as low as 8-9 fps in the sky. It also has lag spikes. Before you ask I use 3 monitors 1920x1200 on surround of a resolution of 5760 x 1200 on the gtx 970 (Running the flight). And a smaller monitor on a gtx 610 @ 1280x1024 (This for maps)... I have just used NVidia inspector for locking frames and other various things around on internet in there recommendations. Didn't see anyone having posted this, so... As noted in the title, the Globe Swift from Aeroplane Heaven is released. It's quite a nifty little plane; it's been my go to choice for the past few nights of flying. To be clear, this is not a question about the relative merits of FTX Global/Vector vs. GEX and the like. That ground has already been plowed many times. I recently upgraded my FSX system, and now have a computer that is quite capable of running FSX, nice aircraft addons, and decent scenery without being brought to its knees. I am now digging deeper into the skills required to fly the great add-ons that are now available, including the A2A 182, the Real Air Duke V.2, and the Dash-8 Q400. These are amazing add-ons, and it is nice not to have to worry about FPS, tweaks, and all the eye candy that used to divert my attention from actually flying the aircraft. It will be …

Tonight was the final straw, I have to narrow down my fleet to only 3 planes in my opinion. I tried flying the PMDG J4100 tonight and failed miserably. :blush: I just have had it with my glut of aircraft that I have acquired over the years and can't get good enough with even one to fly it properly. Maybe this is a handicap that I only suffer with, but for me it's good-bye and off to the scrap heap for most. I think I will try to only to fly 3 at first; 1. PMDG 777 (what else, right?) 2. Just re formated and installed Win7 64 bit my PC. Have re-downloaded and installed steam, signed into account and re-downloaded FSX-SE, now when i go to start FSX-SE i get the "application has failed to start its side-by-side configuration is incorrect" error. I have installed all 3 simconnect dll that reside in the SDK folder inside the FSX-SE root folder....

I have an i7-2600k CPU and 16G RAM. I have HT turned on. My Affinity setting in my FSX.cfg is 84. I see activity in all the 8 windows in the Performance Monitor. Should I see that activity? Sometimes they all max out while loading a flight and scenery. Is this normal? Thanks, Bob.

Hi folks, my FSX ACC-Installation has a very strange behaviour. Sometimes and pretty much random the sim reloads the AI traffic (that what it says). Unfortunately I can´t recall any exact date when it first happened (probably when I reinstalled everything after a HDD crash). Ttat problem produces very annoying results like when I stand ontop a carrier with the VRS FA-18E and it get´s reloaded, the carrier is gone and TacPack tells me I´m dead and I spawn somewhere up in the air. Has anyone a clue what´s causing this wiered behaviour?

I was running EFB very well with FSX, until I had a system problem that required me to uninstall FSX completely. I re-installed with FSX SE, and began to re-install all of my prior FSX apps. Haven't had any problems, until I got to Aivlasoft's EFB. I cannot get the data provider to run...it installed and did it's initial construction, and at the end it crashed. The reason I'm posting up here is that the Aivlasoft forum seems to be putting the onus of solving the problem on other users - a typical reply from the Aivlasoft crew says (in effect), "Why don't you look up the error and see what's wrong?" I have recently lost the function of the mouse wheel in both the 2D cockpit and the VC. I am no longer able to rotate knobs or wheels on any aircraft panels. All other mouse functions are normal within FSX and the mouse wheel functions normally outside of the sim.I must have done something to disable the function of the mouse wheel within sim and I have retraced all of my steps to try and figure it out - but I'm stumped.Is anybody aware of a setting somewhere in FSX that might be responsible for this?Thanks,Dave

Hi everyone, I've succesfully imported the Flightzone KPDX scenery for FS9 into FSX according to the instructions mentioned here: http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/8758/fsx-flightzone02-portland-scenery-patch/ It works like a charm. However, I must be honest, I like the Orbx PNW textures better than the low-res (FS9) photoreal portland textures that come with the scenery. Is there any way to remove them? I've been searching the net for hours now, but I only found a forum post from someone who claims to have done this, but without instructions. Thanks in advance for any help! kind regards, Nico

Hi After spending quite a bit of time with the default Boeing 737 I am looking for a slightly more advanced version. Somewhere between default and PMDG level would be great as I don't feel ready to take on one of those yet. Can anyone recommend one. Intrepid early adopters: I'm about to evaluate FSX:SE, but before I do, I have a question about the install location. Steam likes to default all its applications into the "SteamApps" directory under the Steam program itself. When installing FSX:SE, is there an option (during install or somewhere within Steam itself) to customize the install location and break FSX:SE out of the Steam directory tree? (If so, does anyone recall when/where it might be so I don't skip past it?) Thanks, -Greg

Hi All, Currently on a EGKK to LIMC flight in my Avro RJ100, but I can't land the bloody thing. Luckily I saved my game 30 mins before my landing attempts so I am able to have another go (Failed 3 times so far) Basically I fly IFR for Take off and Landings and set FMC from my flightplan (High Altitude Airways) for the middle bit. I have not been able to work out landing using stars so I follow IFR ATC Instructions and land ILS. Here is where I have run into a problem as firstly ATC instructed me to land on Runway 17R which has no ILS, but I asked for another runway and was given 17L (No option for 35R or L).
