Hello all,I have received a number of emails, and read a number of forum posts relating to the presence of "gaps" at the rear of the VC in our recent freeware 172 release.I thought I should set the record straight here. Our 172 release is primarily a new flightmodel for the FS2002 default Cessna 172. Rob spent hundreds of hours developing this flightmodel, which I must stress is an all-new flightmodel, it's coding has nothing in common with the default FS2002 flightmodel. But the graphics on the other hand are solely based on the default FS2002 Cessna 172. We have not changed anything in the actual mdl file, we have simply created a custom exterior livery in the Kangan/ Ba…

I just downloaded Bill Lyons Classic Cub but it don't show up in FS2K2. I have Windows ME and used WinZIP to unzip. All I got were all the folders showing up on my desktop. Need a step by step to unzip the files into my main FS2K2 folder. I tried drag and drop but still get a no show. Any help greatly appreciated. My first lesson as a student pilot in 1972 was in a J3 and I'm really looking forward to more flights soon. Now if I could just learn to fly a computer...Doug Young

Whenever the pilot speaks there is no static in the background. However, whenever ground, tower or ATC talk there is static in the background. Does anyone know what causes this and how to get rid of it?

How about AirCal? We had a brief discussion of this the other day... Very nice livery, and I was quite saddened when American took Aircal over... I logged many miles between SFO, Reno, and SoCal on that airline while I lived in California.-John

Can some of you repainters come up with something deroggatory about Dailey splashed across the fuselage of some decent-sized aircraft?I have some suggestions in mind but they're probably not printable here. For anyone sending Dailey emails, some attachments with screenies of such repaints may be appropriate.A juvenile idea perhaps, but at the moment I don't really care.

What is the general opinion of the Perfect Flight (www.fs2000.org) airline simulation series? They have done Northwest, United, Lufthansa, and most recently Speedbird, which looks quite interesting to me. It seems to offer quite a bit--more realistic planes (are they any good?), flight crew, ratings, and so on--within a single and reasonably cheap package. Yet I've never really seen any discussion of this series on any of the websites. So, does anyone here have any of these airlines? Would you recommend them? Thanks.Marc

Does anyone have a copy of either the current PC Pilot or Computer Pilot magazine, in one of those magazines it mentions a developer who has created a broomstick to fly around in. I believe it is the Nimbus 2003.. It lists a url. I would be very grateful if anyone could post or email me the URL listed in the magazine. ThanksJon

When directly approaching a VOR station flying by hand, it can often be difficult to hit your departing radial at the desired departing heading, especially when encountering large angles of deflection and/or when flying faster aircraft (the beancounters pore over those JetA receipts, you know). I've been tinkering with a formula that allows you to plug in your groundspeed and desired angle of deflection so that a standard rate turn needs to be started/underway x.x miles from the station. This ignores wind, of course, which is to be factored in as one would other navigational maneuvers.I'm not too keen on embarrassing myself by putting my formula out yet, so I'm curious ho…

I hate to start ANOTHER thread on the same topic, but I feel people need to see this, and it might have gotten buried in another thread. Instead of compaining and making idle threats that will have no effect on anyone other than yourself, write the mayor yourself and tell him what you think of his actions. Its probably too little too late, but I think this is the right way to go about making your opinion at least heard.Mayor Daley's email: [email protected] Fitzgerald: [email protected] Durbin: [email protected] are more emails for elected officials on the WWW, but this is a good start. If you dont like what Daley did last…

Hey all --First, an apology. I realize this might belong in a different forum here, but I doubt the others are frequented as much as this one!Anyway, on to my problem. I recently reinstalled Windows XP. After getting all my apps set up and installed, I began to run BootVis. It was all fine, and then 2 reboots in a 5 reboot cycle, it hit me, Windows 'Send, Don't Send' dialog box. Well, undaunted, I tried again. And again. And, well, you get the idea. No go. Crashes, sometimes on the 4th cycle, sometimes on the 1st.Well, I went to the event viewer, and noticed that ntdll.dll was causing the error. Here is the error report:Faulting application bootvis.exe, version 1…

Good afternoon everyoneI have been painting a few airplanes and have the following problem. I can convert a DXT3 texture to a bitmap which enables me to paint but when I convert it back to a DXT3 format and load up the plane, the textures are just black. If I swap this for the bitmap version, everything is fine. How do I get it to recognise the DXT file?I would be grateful of any advice.BTW. I am using MS Paint and FS2002's image tool.Colin

Well, as some of you might remember, I shall be upgrading my system with a new mainboard and CPU in the near future. The items I set my eyes on are the ASUS A7N8X board with an Athlon XP 2500 CPU. However, there was a question that had been nagging me for days, and I think it might be smarter if I asked it before doing any "surgery" on my machine. Is it wise (or even necessary) to uninstall the chipset drivers for my current mainboard (ASUS A7V133 with VIA chipset) before swapping over to the new board? And if so, how should I do this?Cheers & thanks,
