I've been enjoying this magnificent aircraft since buying it a few days ago, but I've run into a little snag and was hoping somebody's experience with the bird might provide some clues.According to the docs, a 70,000lb Clipper should make about 128 KIAS at 1600 rpm and 25" HG MP. I'm flying with about 8,000 lb of fuel, thus total weight is about 65,000 lb. At 3,000 ft, there is no way this baby will even stay in the air with less than about 30" HG MP and 2100 rpm. At these settings, I get 95 KIAS in level flight. Doesn't that seem a little low given the low weight? I believe I've followed the checklists (flaps and beaching gear are up) so I'm a little stumped. Also, the d…

The panning rate for FS2004, in my opinion, is way too slow. It takes about 4 seconds to turn your head from one side of the plane to the next. The settings is in the fs9.cfg file, at:[CONTROLS] PAN_RATE=400I increased it to 1000, and now it takes maybe 2 seconds to turn my head. I suppose I could make it faster if I wanted, but this feels more realistic.

  4. Just fired up 2004, and did a few circuits around Thun Field in Pierce County, WA.At first blush, it looks awesome. Some comments:- The clouds look great. All of the new weather options are terrific. You can look at individual reporting stations on the map! Awesome.- Running at only 1024x768 with 2xAA via my Radeon Tweaker, the virtual cockpit is MUCH sharper than with FS2002. All of the gauges and radio numbers are now easily readable. In FS2002, I had to run at higher resolutions or zoom into the cockpit in order to read the instruments.- Flying the 172 is definately different than the last version. It has a feeling of weight and inertia which will take some getting use…

Factory standard Dell P4, 2.53Ghz, 533 Mhz FSB, Ti4600 (nVidia 40.** something drivers), 1024 Rambus RAM. Currently has FS2002 loaded and working brilliantly with massive amounts of a/c and some scenery add-ons.Or will I get a black screen with FS2004 ?Or 4 fps ?I see a lot of distress on this forum about FS2004, that's why I am asking. I don't want to believe the comments about disabling FSAA to get FS2004 to work. I appreciate any posts, really. Thanks!JS

I am enjoying Fs2k4, but am wondering whether others share my experience with the NYC area? Although JFK has finally gotten a desperatly needed facelift and there are also a few more bridges, the buildings of Manhattan seem a bit less photorealistic than in the previous version. I have experimented with different settings, but the still seem to have a more cartoonish appearance than before (even reminds me a little of NYC in Fly!). This is only my first impression, and I have not had a chance to go back and compare directly with FS2k2, but somehow it seems a little less impressive than before. That being said, the new night textures do look fabulous in NYC.For some re…

Hi, I have noticed that I can look up and down via the front view by pressing SHIFT+ENTER and SHIFT+BASCKSPACE, however I can not view up and down when lI look left or right or any other direction if its not the front view. Do I have to assign that command in fS2004? I don't remember doing that in FS2002.Thanks,Bill

A new flight simulator and a new readme.rtf file. It seems we just got over telling many to RTFM (F=fine) for FS2002. Well I am hear to tell you to RTFM for FS2004. It is located in your ..Flight Simulator 9 folder. It contains a wealth of information about where files are located, limitations, old modules, etc.You might also try using the Learning Center. It too has a wealth of information, such as, using the new GPS (its quite complicated and has a lot of functions). The Learning Center is reached from the Main Flight Simulator Menu Page.Have a great flight!W. Sieffert

Hi, Afters testing fs2004 for two hours, I REALLY like this new sim. -Much more Improved ATC over fs2002-Less frame hit on AI traffic vs fs2002.-Ground appears better then fs2002 and less blur.-Major improvment on the weather engine, realistic turbulance-Water appears better now-Sky color are amazing that's change each day, dawn, dusk, haze are amazing. Lights on clouds and environment are way much better.-Autogen much better-All Flight Dynamic appears Improved over fs2002, specialy the Helicopter, I prefer much more the fs2004 default helicopter with some small tweak over the X-plane version, and the lear jet is way better than the default fs2002.Performance with my P4.…

I've got a athlon 2200+ and with 512 ddr333. With fs2002 i was averaging 15-20 frames per second with all sliders 2 the right except for the mesh. Traffic was at 70%. After installin fs2k4 I went first 2 my second favorite airport at Miami. I was amazed. I was averaging 28-39 frames per second with all the sliders 2 the right except for mesh and atc at 100%. I couldn't believe the smoothness. And I had the clouds the best they could go with all the sliders 2 the right. I don't know bout these uys who cmplaining. I quickly uninstalled fs2002 2 free up space and i will never fly with that again. Fs2004 is a dream and i love the flying thru those clouds. The graphics are bea…

All,Is there any way to change the location where FS2004 writes (and reads) my flight plans? I don't care for the default location under "My Documents", as it is on a different drive than where FS is installed and I prefer to have all of my FS stuff on one drive. Thanks!

Been searching for the airports with increased scenery and have found the following: KLAX,KSFO,KDEN,KSEA,KMIA,KLAS,KDFW,KJFK,KLAS,KATL,EGLL,RJAA,VHHH,LFPG,YSSY. Did I miss any? Some have just added jetways and improved buildings and others have significant improvements. Denver even has a line of deicing vehicles you can taxi between. I was somewhat surprised to find none for our neighbors north of the border. You guys do something to tick off Billy G.? John Fitzpatrick
