I don't know if others have noticed this but there seems to be an overkill with haze at higher altitudes (kind of looks like MS chose to cap the viewable distance in order to improve framerates). My sliders are maxed out but it seems my viewable terrain doesn't extend out as far as it did in FS2002. Kind of kills it for me as far as high altitude flight goes. Maybe it's my video card (ATI 9700pro).

OK, Perhaps it is just me perhaps not...Did I just enter the wrong site?I Posted a very informative and detailed post concerning the poor Anti-piracy encryption from Macrovision that MS is using with FS2k4 that will not allow the game to run after it is installed on some syetms that use very common hardware, that is a retail version installation.MS has not been able to resolve this, further the want a few days to work on this...Many tried to help with different good suggestions that sadly do not work...someone posted the only fix that allowed me to at least use the game that I purchased by means of the new CD crack (that everyone will be using soon just like FS2k) which o…

I'm enjoying FS2004, and my system is working great with it. Very fluid, and very few stutters. I think I've tweaked the AA just right now (using Dell 8250 with 2.8gig and 512RDRAM-ATI Radeon 9700), after MUCH experimenting. However....THE EAGLESOFT PREMIER AND Beechjet 400A STUTTER HORRIBLY ON THE TAKEOFF ROLL AND IN THE AIR. TOTALLY UNFLYABLE! My Carenado 210 flies well, and I'm about to try the 310. IT HAS TO BE THE PLANE, NOT THE SYSTEM. Are any of you flying the Eaglesoft products successfully? If so...how?Let's keep talking about what works and doesn't work in this forum. It really helps, and I'm sure we can work things out to the satisfaction of most. …

  11. Ok.. I talked BestBuy guy to get me one from the back. I've been trying to install for last 2 hours. At first I was able to get late into CD3 and kept bring up not able to extract file X due to Low Memory (probably caused by small swap file size). I kept trying, then it started happening on CD 1!! I set all memory to system controls setting. Rebooted about 15 times... Now, it is just an endless circle. Please help.My system is as follows : WinXP SP1, 1gig Ram, 160gig HD, P4 2.4, Radeon 9800 pro 256mb.. ???BillyBob

  12. This is crazy, most if not all my FS2k2 panels don't work with FS2k4. This new sim really has a problem with gauges which really boggles my mind since MS and Beta testers have claimed such great compatibility. I can't understand why a sim that shares so much with it's earlier predecessor has problems like these. This is almost like what when I switched from FS98 to FS2000. I'm sorry to say this but FS2000's code is basically the foundation here, FS2k2 and FS2k4 are updates on that same graphic engine. We should not be seeing issues to this degree, I mean most if not all FS2002 panels have some sort of problem and that's crap, not to mention FSDS1 planes don't work bu…

I have both on my system although on different drives and have noticed a strange occurence.I rarely use FS2002 but on clicking on FS2002 to execute it I get a message "wait while a new database is created" this happens even when I havent added scenery. The strange thing is that having used FS2004 with a clean startup on every occasion when I have opened FS2002 the next time I use FS2004 same message comes up in FS2004. Again no scenery added. Any ideas and are there any other cross problems holding FS2002 and FS2004 together?Peter

Hi AllWith all the building hype surrounding FS2004, does anyone know whether Micro$oft have addressed the various 'Gripes' that have been noted in FS2002? Things like the harsh way cloud layers are drawn as a cutoff line when visibility is reduced. Or the poor way clouds deal with mountains poke through with nasty jaged edges. How about the poor way AI aircraft behave....? (climbing at 11000ft per min etc & flying way too fast?) Or dissappearing into thin air after landing etc etc.....What about the AI sounds... instead of that dull 'drone' that sounds more like a Vacuum cleaner.... Lets hear the enging & prop pitches change... Reverse thrust kick in & when …

I saw on Thursday on the Simware site they would have it the next day to send out (Yesterday), I doubt anyone has had it yet from them, but was wondering, I ordered it that night and had email yesterday saying "items available will be sent today".But I didn't get a tracking number, not sure if I was suposed to or not.Anyway, if anyone has news on this as and when they have it I'd grateful to hear about it. Like if you got tracking number and how long it took to get to you, I'm in the UK.Thanks.

Hi all,Bumpmaps...From what I've experienced (and read), using bumpmap graphics apparently provides the best "overall" water effect. I just want to try and clear up one thing:Bumpmap rendering is NOT animated. It looks good and it reflects ambient light; but it does not shimmer in the sun and the waves on the surface do not move. Waves are still visible lapping along shorelines; but there is not any wave movement, rippling, etc. in open water.I'm not stating this as fact... I'm saying this is what I'm seeing on my system. If I'm wrong - please correct me!Regards,Marc

If the release date is the 29th July, why is Avsim only shipping on that date. I understand that they are complying with MSOFTS stupid date release that many other retailers and suppliers have ignored, and i'll bet there will be no repocussions as dollars are dollars, but even a nutter would realize that if you ship on a date, that it will be after that date that a consumer will receive it.The Outer Limits? No matter what setting I set my sliders to, once I'm off the ground at about 12,000 feet and/or above my frame rates take a nose dive. I tried a flight from KSAN to KPHX tonight and had to stop the sim it was so bad. Certain clouds create a framerate mess and if you can't get high enough (I was using MS's downloadable weather), your flight is going to suck. Maybe Chris Willis at FSW GROUP will design some clouds that are a little more friendly on framerates. Guess I'm back to flying FS2002 tonight, it's amazing the difference in performance in these two sims. I still find myself appreciating FS2k2...Les D.Dell P4 2.6gig 800fsbATI 9700 Pro 100gig SDRAM100gig HDP.S. FS…
