I have only flown in my home state of Florida... I was curious how other states rate in your opinion in 2004.For my part- Florida from what I have seen so far is very accurate! Obviously autogen citys and streets are lacking, but for the most part captures the feel on Florida flying! Please check in and let me know about your state/country!!Walt,

Hi,I am running FS2002 (soon to be FS2004 I hope) on a P4 2.8Ghz, 1Gb DDR400 memory and ATI 9800 Pro 256Mb running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 (nothing overclocked). I am also using the Omega drivers (Not the very latest ones, the version before this. From memory 3.5 and not 3.6).Also I did not reinstall the video drivers after installing DirectX 9.0b (have not had time to test yet if this will fix the problem described below).I was running DirectX 9.0a without any problems on this rig and recently installed 9.0b (after making a restore point first luckily) and experienced a massive stutter which started at various time intervals into the flight. Once the stutt…

Hey everyone.I'd just like to express my amazement with FS9. I bought it this morning and installed it (it took 15 minutes, max), and then went about setting up my joystick, etc. Then I did my first flight, Culebra-Dominicci, with moderate cloud coverage (I also explored weather themes). I run the sim with sliders at 3/4 the way to the right, massive a/c texture size, 75pt. terrain mesh, and at 1280x1024x32 resolution. I have yet to experience a frame rate hit. I am getting extremely consistent frames in all kinds of weather, and have experienced no significant graphical anomalies. This is quite honestly the best sim yet.If you have any positive experiences you'd like…

Hello!Well, I finally got my copy of 2004COF this morning at Game Stop for only $44.95 (Priced at $49.95 without the discount coupon that I had). I also get the $10 rebate from MS also, what a deal!I wanted to send this post because my system is not very fast compared to what many of you out there have, but even so, I am getting very good results so far with 2004COF on my slower system.Anyways, after messing with the settings in FS2004 for a while and doing a little flying, I have to say that I am very happy with the sim thus far.I have most the sliders mid range to max and I am getting slightly better performance with 2004 over 2002.The big thing that I have noticed is …

I can't find the Avionics master switch on the Lear nor is there an icon for the avionics. I have had to assign a keyboard key to turn the avionics on which is not a real problem. Just seems strange this is the only way to get the radios on. The other planes have the icon. Anybody else notice this? Jim

Hi guys - saw this in full screen mode - it isn't there if I switch to window:http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/26563.jpgSee the cutoff on the right? This was with the storm building weather theme out of SeaTac.BTW - another good thing is that I got all this stuff on the screen and my fps were running around 10-12, but it was still smooth...not too bad IMHO.http://saltydogfly2.avsim.net/images/avsim_sig.jpg"I am the keeper of the cheese; you are the lemon merchant"

Chris wrote:"The impostor was made for the performance, but you can easly fix this by using the clouds distant to at least 40 mil and the clouds percentage to 90/100%."This tip helped me boost my framerates above 12,000ft. By doing this caused clouds to form and dissipate as I fly through them. It seems by having the cloud distant setting to 40 causes clouds to form as you approach them (they would just appear out of nowhere in FS2k2) which was not happening when I had this slider maxed out (clouds couldn't form because they were already drawn). This actually made the sky seem to come alive which is kind of cool... I'm testing now to see if a storm cell will form like …

Last week I installed an ATI 9800 Pro and had some issues with the install- short story, I used BootMagic to create another C: drive on my system, installed Win98, and upgraded to XP, then installed the video card. I've now got the card running in both instances of XP, same card settings in control panel- however the new XP instance has older drivers (from the CD that came with, not the cat 3.6's).I tried installing FS9 into the new XP install (now unused, as I've got the video card working in the original install). Same video settings, both have no AI traffic, and both have unlimited video frames so there's no fps limiter. At KSEA, mid-day today:Old XP install: 22.6New…

I see a lot of great shots of FS2k2 planes like FFX and Posky working fine in FS2k4, but what about panels? Do any of the FS2k2 panels work in FS2k4 or is it back to the drawing board?Lee

Hey guys...well, I'hve had FS2004 since friday all was running fine EXCEPT the 3D clouds just absolutely killing FPS...well, yesterday, I formatted my system (needed it badly). Well, got everything back up, installed all my drivers, etc. Installed FS...along with DX9a that comes with it...oh boy, now when I look at the horizon, its nothing but stutters and gurgled sound. The one thing that sticks out is that in DXDiag, AGP texturing is "Unavailable" I have NEVER seen that before, its ALWAYS been there...and before I formatted it was there...well, I downloaded/installed DX9b to see if anything changed, but nothing...I'm 90% sure this is where my problem is coming from, any…

Eight out of the box, FS9 gives me little black boxes around trees, runway lights and strobe lights on the wings......at this point, the sim is unflyable. I have a vanilla XPS 8100 from Dell, 500Megs of Ram. 1.3 MHZ.Framerates go from 20 to 7 when I go to cockpit modesI also could not get anti-alias to show up.Very skeptical at this point. My first reaction was ...migod, it looks just like FS2000.

Had it since Saturday but was only able to update my GoFlight system today. Made a controlled approach into KRNO with two active runways. Tower cleared a 747 to the right runway, my Baron to the left; cautioned my that the Heavy was also on final. There were also 3 other a/c in the pattern. As I turned from base to final, there was the "biggy", pretty as you please. We both landed, turned off the runway and turned over to ground control. Ground control had me halt in place while a Dash-8 landed on the right active. Great smoke effects on his touchdown. One problem...the Dash-8 turned into the same taxiway as I was waiting on and there we stood, face to face with neither on…

Anyone else having a problem with side views. When I look out the windows I see the sim redraw the scenery. First I see large blocks or brown, blue or white and then I see the correct view. It looks like FS2000 all over again. Everything else seems to work fine. If I look once and then go back to the same view it is ok.Nv Ti4200 128 with 4351 driversThanks Richard

I've done lots of online simming with Warbirds, Aces High, WW32Online but they were all pay-to-play. What about FS2002/4? And what do you do once you go online? Am very interested in finding out more.

There's an odd bug in there somewhere. We've been having afternoon thunderstorms here lately, and they are getting the weather done right. Big puffy CBs all over, wonderful to wind thru in the late afternoon sun.But it appears there's a perspective problem somewhere. Many darker, smaller and apparently more distant low clouds show through the closer bigger clouds. So you get the effect of the more distant, slower passing clouds are looking closer, showing in front of the faster moving closer clouds. Also noticed this enroute at night, the low puffies showing in front of the closer, faster passing thin cirrus layer.Anyone else noticed this? I also wish that in spot view th…

HiI obtained my copy of Flight Simulator 2004,and I misunderstand something about full ILS approach.I am getting these messages from ATC:"Turn right.. Expect vectors for ILS runway 12 approach Circle to land runway 26"."Cleared for ILS runway 12 approach, enter left pattern Circle to land runway 26".My question is, if I want to hold the approach with the autopilot.1) Should I set the NAV radio to the frequency of Rwy 12 , or maybe to the frequency of Rwy 26?2) Should I set the COURSE to the heading of Rwy 12, or maybe to the heading of Rwy 26?Thanks,Ran

How do you set all the display setting (and other settings) in FS2004? I had the setting the way I wanted them but had to stop the game to go to the store, when I got back and turned on FS2004 all the setting were back to the default settings.
