As promised by a few others I am getting the same or better FPS in 2004 when compared with 2002. I have 3D clouds off and im running at 1024X768X32 with 30% scenery, 100% aircraft, and most other normal video settings. Getting solid rates in the low to mid 20's.I usually fly with solid overcast 200'agl to 10000'agl and use FS for real world instrument practice. In those conditions and using ATC as well as the new Garmin 500 im sitting in the 30FPS range. So other slow pokes out there FS2004 seems no worse than 2004 if you keep the settings at a reasonable level. (Even with no 3D clouds the WX looks much better than in 2002 and the lighting seems better as well).PIII 80…

Why don't I see a distant fog all the time. Only once did I see a beautiful distant blue haze when my visibility was set to unlimited but then I restart FS2004 and the fog is not there and when it's not there it reminds me of FS2002. What do i have to do to see that distant haze all the time?

I read a thread today on this forum under the heading "FS2004 Tweaks". The contribution was by Peter R. It was the most fantastic bit of advice for tweaking I have yet received. Being an ATI Radeon 9700 owner, I followed Peter's tweaks EXACTLY (except I kept sun glare and lens flare ON and turned AA off in the sim) and I had a flawlessly displayed flight OVER CLOUDS AT 37,000 feet. My FRAMES BARELY MOVED OFF OF 20FPS DURING THE ENTIRE FLIGHT. Took off from McCarren in Vegas with the default Lear. Used real weather, and it had good clouds today. Although Peter's Radeon was a 9500, his settings were nothing short of miraculous for me. I had been playing with my driver setti…

  4. Is anyone else having problems with the "live" weather in FS2004 not matching real weather? In my case, FS2004 thinks it has been alternating between rain and low visibility around my home airport of KMGJ (Orange County, NY) for the last four days even though the weather has been consistently beautiful in real life. Also, I get bizarre wind conditions- I just completed a flight from KMGJ (FS2004 indicates clouds at 8000 and light rain even though the real sky is clear) to KGBR (Great Barrington) and landed in a 34 knot wind from the west even though the real METAR indicates no wind and clear skies.Anyone else?-Simon

  7. Hi,I got a new computer:P4 2.61024MbRadeon 9800 pro 128MBI have a problem with it. I am not getting my airplane very sharp. As this video card is one of the newest, I expected that there is something wrong...Below you can see where I am talking about. Sorry for the 1024*700, but otherwise it isn't very good to see...I have the latest drivers from ATI and everything is max in fs9. Any idea what I could check to get it better?Regards,FlyerNL

Don't CLick Yes. I got a little message when I tried to load like FFGs 737-700, saying this aircraft has features that this version of FS may not support, blah, blah, blah, and asks if you want to disable these features? If I clicked Yes, all the animations(gear, flag, alierons, etc) would not work. If I clicked no, the worked fine.

haha. When I first loaded the sim into Meigs airport I thought there was something wrong with my video card. The water looked like it was radioactive bright blue. If anyone has ever seen water around chicago it's filthy and dark green. Then I went to Hawaii and noticed it was the same. I decided to download Ed Truthan's water textures for FS2002 and my eyes are much relieved from torture, here's a before and after shot, hopefully you're wearing sunglasses to see the "before" shothttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/26672.jpghttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/26674.jpg

With all the excitement regarding the release of ACOF, I thought I would lighten things up a bit. Do any of you guys let your wives/ girlfriends in on the fun of our beloved hobby by allowing them to perform the duties of a virtual first officer? (I have done so on many occasions, and find that it's a great way to spend quality time together, not to mention the fun in imparting the knowledge of simulator flying with someone you love) . Maybe some of you would like to share some of your experiences with your significant other sharing the right seat.J.C (MYNN)

Hi, just got COF yesterday and loving it.Have one question. In fs2002 I would normally get runway info by pausing simming when selecting MAP from menus. I would point to the airport on the map and airport info is displayed including runway frequency and course for ILS. I've went through the GPS topic in fs2004, but, can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for. That is how do I find the course to set the course selector when on APP at a runway using GPS (500) say with 737 or Lear. The info in GPS only shows the ILS frequency for the runway but not the course value to set. I notice that if runway say 9 or 15 the course value is off by a couple of degrees, 89 or 156,…

Has anyone else experienced FS2004 starting up rather slow after clicking on the icon to start it? I'm running Windows Me with a 1Ghz Pentium and after installing FS2004, it takes a good 10 seconds before CD4 starts running and the program opens up. All my other programs work at their normal speed. I've defrag'd the drive and cleaned it up, but still no help...Mickey KLAS

I am trying to squeeze every ounce of speed I can out of my system and have two questions: First, if I use msconfig and turn off some of the "services" that Windows XP shows to be running, will it improve speed at all? and second, does anyone here have knowledge about what is safe to turn off and what should be left alone? Thanks in advance for any constructive help. :-)

Repeated attempts to use Wideview in FS9 have failed with a crash to desktop. No real surprize even with a registered copy of FSUIPC 3.0 I suppose. I use a Dell 8250 3.06 HT for primary with two low-level 'throw-away' e-machine's whose sole purpose in life is to provide left-front and right-front views via wideview. This has been in use since FS2000 and will be show-stopper for me if something can't be worked out for FS9. I know there has been discussion about multi-monitor, but does that include three monitors. I prefer wideview but any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi all,Has anyone figured out why custom scenery won't show in the GPS display. The scenery loads fine, is visible, and in the same location as it was in 2K2, but the ICAO numbers won't show up. This makes it difficult to start flights from the custom scenery.I tried both a direct import from FSSC and the normal files and textures method to no avail. Both worked as far as the scenery load goes... it is there... just no GPS.The scenery is viewable and is checked as active....Any thoughts? Thanks, Jeff
