Trying to coax my 600Mhz to perform under FS2004 has been an experience indeed. However, I think I have found something that people have looked past and it definitely affects performance. That is dynamic weather. For most posts people talk on how 3d clouds or lack thereof affects performance, and I will agree. Yet I have had some dreadfully slow flights with hardly a cloud in the sky, so I decided to look. My Weather Rate of change was high. Remember, Dynamic weather is like AI traffic. The CPU must not only account for the planes in the are, but when the weather is dynamic, it must model the incoming systems. This takes quite a bit of CPU power that isn't readily n…

I was playing around with some settings in FSUIPC and found that if I check the option to "Add Cirrus layer occasionally" that that helps me keep my clouds from disappearing so quickly and also it makes the clouds look allot fuller at altitude...I don't know if this will help others or not but it's worth a try... Let me know what you guys find.

And they are looking at the problem. If you have the crystal clear horizon prob with FS2004, give them a call. It would appear that the more calls they get the more heat goes on the driver development...they are getting lots of Radeon/FS2004 related calls. One interesting observation...when I go from one of my "saved on the runway" scenarios and change the weather to "fogged in", the screen comes up, for a half a second, with honest to goodness haze/fog...than it snaps back to that silly white wall/white autogen object situation. It's in there...just got to figure out how to make it work...I'm fiddling with every option I can find, some of which wind me up in XP safe mode o…

Hi,I just installed FS2004 and am having difficulty with my CH Pro Pedals (USB version). If I depress one of the pedals there is a "Differential Braking" indicator on the screen and the aircraft will slow. However, upon releasing the pedal I get a "Brakes" indicator on the screen and the aircraft will not move. The only way I have found to release the brakes is to set and then release the parking brakes. Very annoying. Can anyone with these pedals comment as to how to get them set up for proper braking in FS2004? I used the same pedals in FS2002 and never had any problems like this. Thanks,Tony

I have an NEC MultiSync E750 and an AOC Spectrum 7Vlr running off of a GeForce TI4600 128. I also have a Compaq V50 running off of a generic SIS 3D card. Everything worked great in FS2002 under 1024x768. Now with FS2004, it seems to be a different method for selecting multiple monitors. Anyway, it sees the three monitors, and offers me an assortment of resolutions for the Compaq monitor and one of the monitors running off of the GeForce, but it only offers 800x600 on the other GeForce monitor and that's what everything defaults to. I've tried many things, updating monitor drivers, etc. My GeForce driver is 44.03. Nothing helps. I've looked into refresh rates, etc.…

Ah, another complaint against people wanting more in compensation for their effort than hatemails and complaints. If you don't think it's worth the money, noone forces you to buy it.Myself, I never used it and I don't miss it.

Have to admit: I got "caught" in the negative postings pre-release FS9. I was wrong. Said I was holding off, for the 1st time ever, in upgrading to COF. Instead, I paid the remainder of my reserved ticket, p/u my Tin Box, and went home (expecting the worse) (I have a 6 mth. old 9700Pro 128, P4 2.8, 1 meg, etc.) all the components "listed" as "non-performing" with COF.After I had responded to all the warnings - saying "I'd hold with FS2k2"..... what a shock......I was wrong....... LOL !I am not a computer guru, but my system was built new, w/XP Home as the op/sys. I just followed the instructions from FSCOF, and I've had nothing but Joy !Yes, I see some issues. Not all…

Hi Folks,I hope you are enjoying FS9 as much as I am.In fs2002 we could set the Aircraft Texture Size to determine how sharp the exterior textures of an aircraft would be.The textures on my aircraft in FS9 are not sharp and I can't find my old friend Aircraft Texture Size. I'd like to set it to massive as i had it in FS2002. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help,Howard

Hey I seen SimCharts 2002 pretty cheap at a local pro shop, and was wondering if it will work ok with FS2004 or will it require a patch?

Before you go full speed ahead and install pre-FS2004 add-ons in COF be careful. Here's what happened to me when I tried to install Carenado's C210 in FS2004. After completely re-installing Windows XP Pro (a simple process using Microsoft's RIS tool)I then installed a pristine copy of FS2004. I spent the first hour setting up the flight sim as I usually do. After a few familiarization flights I installed my first add-on aircraft. I chose Carenado's Cessna 210 Centurion II. I fell in love with this plane when it was first released. Anyway, it performed just as it did in FS2002. I then installed the patch. Still no problem. Great plane. The next thing I did was to make this…

I recently came into possession of a model FS-100 contoller manufactured by MDM Systems. I purchased the unit second hand with no documentation or support software. Some searching revealed that MDM Systems was acquired by Jeppesen. I contacted them to try to get information on the device with no luck. It looks like a really well built unit but as is I don't know how to use it!!The interface cable splits into three. Where do they go? Are drivers needed? Can anyone help??Thanks,

Im impressed by the speed of loading FS9Im NOT impressed with the speed of getting pages in this forum; seems to take ages.Even when changing terrain mesh % the loading is fast. In FS2002 it seemed to take forever, and I avoided calling for that to happenBy the way FS9 on my system is great, although it is low endBUT i do have the FX 5200 (128Megs DDR) NVidia with 44.03 installed. It is a budget card. Makes a BIG diffAllen

This was pointed out some time ago and another post made me think and understand in a way understand the pattern in how Flight Simulator has been enhanced over the years. If you think about it this has been the trend:FS5 - New version of FS including new scenery engineFS5.1 - Refinement of FS95 FS95 - Buggy new Windows Release (fist time FS became a non DOS sim)FS98 - More refined version of FS95, many praised this simulator.. FS2000 - Totally New build of Flight Simulator with all the bugs to match.FS2002 - Refinement of FS2000 90% bug free, only version of flight simulator that has not received a patch (not that it didn't need one but it's one hell of a sim in it's ow…

Summarizing, from my own experience and from what I have been reading at the forums: Both ActiveWeather and FSMETEO cause: -"Panel flickering"-Screen going black and FS2004 crash, when changing windows mode. Regards, Marcelo Santiago, ChilePosted on Thursday July 31, 6:00pm EDT

I've got less thatn an hour with the sim- a local flight from KTAN (my home) to KPVD and some circuits in the DC3 and 172. So far, thumbs up, and I do not expect that to change. The land class is better, but still off at my home- according to MS, I live in a really big swamp. They have the town center (Taunton is ~50k people) but my area near the airport isin't even woods. The internal Wx is nice, even if not the most up to date- distant clouds are way cool, and look good.ATC is far better so far, but compared to my loading up of AI traffic in FS2002, the defulat is paltry, but there appear to be more parking slots by default at most airports.Autogen is far superior to FS20…

I just notice that C of G display at fuel and load menu is either most FWD or out of range even adjust load ( there is only 1 position for payload)or fuel. Is this happening to some of you? It effect trimming aircraft on take-off or landings.

What Nvidia drivers are GOOD with FS2004?I've just installed FS2004, it fires up ok, but as soon as I try to fly in fullscreen mode i.e. DirectX on, FS totally reboots the PC :-lolI know it's the graphics drivers because i'm currently using 42.01 ie. december 2002, and I would imagine they aren't DirectX 9 compatible. PS. using GF3 ti 500I've just decided to give the 44.67 drivers ago.....Cheers

I found that using the water slider to at least LOW is required on nightflights cuase otherwise you never see them. Grteat for VFR or even visual referencing. It does not seem to afect the fps (24 from 26 without) and I am using FX5200 VCard.I turn it off for day trips.Allen
