I've read that fast video cards with 128 Meg can handle a faster texture bandwidth setting in fs9.cfg..I've increased mine from the default 60 to 100.. and notice much faster texture loading when changing views. Has anyone figured out how far you can go before "overloading" a Ti4200/128Meg card?(DISPLAY)UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=24TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=100

Hi,Like others I've read, I'm getting some annoying "shimmering" of autogen buildings and trees with my ATI 9700 (otherwise great image quality) in FS2004. I haven't seen a definitive conclusion on the matter, do most people think this is due to a driver problem, or is there a slider setting(s) that fixes it?Best,Joel

Hey, if you have anything fun in FS9, like a good flight for sight seeing, good routes, good scenery, or anything else, share them! I'm sure we'd all like to have some fun things to do in FS9.Here's something to get us started:Get 4 or 5 buddies, pick a route that's about 50 nm long, everyone get in de Havilland Comets, and have a multiplayer race. I just did this tonight with 4 other folks and it was really fun. Nobody was glitching around or anything! It was quite exhilirating- I was in first place the majority of the race, but right near the runway the second place flier dove to gain speed, and he overtook me as we flew over the finish point. I really recommend th…

Does anyone have or know of a place where I can get aircraft.cfg for PAI planes? No, the PAI site doesn't have them, and the ones on flightsim.com are OLD. Also, a currect aircraft.txt file would be nice too, this is also not available on the PAI site.

Is there a good and preferably freeware single Prop Militiary Trainer of either piston or turboprop type that anyone would recommend for FS2002 AND FS2004?I am looking for a good flight model as well as eye candy. I am looking for something as well as the RealAir SF260 - so yes I do know how good it is!

Hi All, I have obtained 2 tft 17" monitors and am looking for a video card to run them on!I have recently bought a Geoforce 4 mx card and noticed that it has a Nvidia N-Veiw function. i have contacted the card manufacter who state that the only way to run a dual monior set up is to have a card with multiple VGA ports. This is where i need your help!!What card has multiple VGA ports???I don't want to break the bank so a mid range one will do! As long as the quality is ok of course.CheersDarenAMD 2800XP 333FSBMIS Motherboard512 DDR RAM80GB HDDG-Force 4 MX:-zhelp

There is a big problem at KTEX in FS2004. Somehow MS managed to stick an ILS shack right in the middle of the runway. It is located on the approach end of runway nine. Considering the density altitude and the shear cliffs off both ends of the runway, I think this airport is quite challenging enough without adding runway obsticles :-) Anyone know how to go about fixing this problem? This airport, Telluride, Colorado, is among the most spectacular airports in the world (the highest in the US), and one of my favorites to visit in MSFS, especially if you have enhanced terrain mesh for the area. Other than this problem it really looks fantastic in FS2004.By the way I did t…

It is just amazing... I did a ton of house keeping and defragged, had no install issues. (XP)My 2100 AMD with a GeForce FX 5200 ultra 128mb card (512mb PC133)makes this baby zing... no problems with performance.. no weird graphics.. no nothing..am i just lucky or what?over doing the clouds does bring it down but hey.. this rig is 2 years old.. yaddya expect. If this is the first positive post in the last week, I know why... everyones out in the world enjoying this wonde…

Lee Swordy has posted a notice on the FSGateway site about what's involved in developing a new Afcad. It appears he has to start from scratch and you have to read the article to appreciate the changes. I was astounded at the changes (for the better) and I'm not just talking about gate parking. You might want to take a short detour over there for a moment. If everyone is already aware of this, sorry for the repeat. John Fitzpatrick

I was lucky enough to find a tin-box copy of FS2004 on the shelf at Office Depot in Tulsa today. After rushing home and installing it, I immediately had two problems crop up that I need help with if anyone knows the answers. First, the default screen resolution is 800X600, and when I go to change it to 1024X768, my entire screen goes black on the create a flight screen (except for a very nice picture of the selected aircraft, spinning in the center of the screen). After poking around in the dark areas, I was able to "accidently" hit the "Fly Now" button and began flying in 1024X768 mode. Everything looks great, but whenever I try to bring up the kneeboard, it only sho…

I love this new sim, but have an annoying problem that in full screen mode, the FS menu screens misbehave (aircraft selection goes black except for a spinning airplane for example..)I can work around this by changing to windowed mode (alt-enter) each time I want to access the menus and all is fine, but I wonder if there are folks out there who have solved this!P4 2.4, Windows XP, Ti4200, 43.51 drivers, DX9b.1280x960x32 resolution, 2xAA and 2xAF enabled in display adapter properties.

In FS2K2, to increase overall haze, you just had to reduce your visibility mileage setting. Not so in FS9.I spent the better half of last evening trying to find the right combo settings for creating haze on the horizon to buffer the distinct, sharp division between the end of land or water and air, otherwise known as the horizon! I searched the Learning Center under "Weather" but only could find suggestions for creating fog. I know it is a combo of settings between cloud ceilings, dew point and air temperature, but what is it? If you have been able to create haze at the horizon, please share your settings.ThanksChris

Hi,I just installed FS2004. Everything seems fine and works fast, except for 1 thing. I've never heard of this problem before, but World -> Change airport is VERY slow for me. If I select it, the dialog box appears quickly; then it doesn't matter if I press OK or Cancel, it takes met 25 seconds to get back to the sim. Anyone seen this? Thanks,Marty

I just did a fresh install of FS9 and I am extremly disapointed so far with a graphics issue I am experiencing. You can see my rig specs below and I am running an ATI 9700 Pro. Here is what is happening. I am getting EXTREME ground graphics 'shimmering'. Tree's, building edges and so on are blinking even when I am sitting on the runway. Any suggestions would be appreciated...Thanks!

There seems to be a new trend toward charging for upgrading addon programs to FS2004. Understandable if new fueatures tossed in but it does force you to spend more than the cost of FS2004 just to retain your previous functionality. So you buy the latest upgrade for FS200x from Bill Gates. Then you pay for upgrades to your addons, pay for the interface to FS2004 addons, etc... Next you discover while the FS2004 upgrade brings obvious new features you have to upgrade you hardware or sit there and watch a slide show. Now we can get MegaScenery for $30. Given the coverage at that price even the most scenic areas of the world can add up to a big number. Of course skipping back t…

12 hours later, I still have have a rather small cookie tin and four blue coasters for the milk.System:AMD XP2200+1gb memory50 gb free disk (dual drives in RAID 1 mirror)ASUS V8420 (TI4200) Video 128 mbASUS A7V333 motherboardWindows XP professional SP1nVidia 40.33 drivers. When installing FS2004, installation appears to go normally, until 100% of files copied and INSTALL switches to "Decompressing Scenery Files" mode. It will "decompress" a number of them and then hang at some arbritrary file, often Sydney. There appears to be nothing wrong with the disks, as all the files can be extracted manually quite easily with the built-in XP CAB extractor.SO...ooo. Just to get goi…
