What do you do with old FS software? I have a huge box of old FS5 and FS98 addons that are gathering dust. I hate to throw it all away, but let's face it, it ain't finding it's way back on my machine anytime soon. I'm curious what others do with their oldies but goodies.Charlie

I think I may have a problem with this. Tonight I decided to try a POSKY 747-400v3 and the POSKY 767-300, when I took off I pressed the "I" key to get the vortex effect but instead of the smoke trailing behind my planes like normal the smoke was going almost straight up and then back down making arches! Anyone else experience this? How do you fix it?(I had no weather and calm winds)

I have read over the weekend about freeware/payware, FS2004 sucks/doesn't suck, Tips for tweaking everything except on how to make the computer go up and clean up after ourselves after we have spent all week "benchmarking".Now, on Sunday, before we all have to go to work, it is time for a break. A nice little flight that will put everything into perspective and the reason why we all love flight simming in the first place.Perhaps it's been my experience with FS2004, or perhaps I found some sweet spot with my video card, but running FS2002, seems to have more giddyup now then it used to. But besides the point, whether you go in FS2002, or FS2004, you are still in for a tr…

Well I'll post this up as a seperate topic, in hopes of getting some help.Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 - FPS: 5-7ASUS P4PE1 GB Corsair memoryP4 3.06ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128MBWindows XPNot the fastest system out there (I'm waiting for a new Prometia cooling unit to tweak/upgrade again), but it should run faster then 6 fps.Oh yeah, I put all the detail sliders, weather, etc. to minimum and it didn't make more then a 2 FPS difference. The menus also get garbled when I scroll.Methinks it's an ATI driver issue. I'm just not sure I want to redo my system for this game, when everything else runs well.3DMark 2001 SE score is around 14000 with nothing shut down or optimized.

Hi everyone!I am good impressed whit the improvements in the new FS9.An important great improvement I found, is the better night approch lights, runways lights, taxiways lights and aircraft landing lights. Now you can taxi (In night) and see the yellow guidance centerline, the blue and the green lights of taxiways etc. It is more realistic and more easy to go.But...(allways a but). Please compare the two sceen-shoots I attach. The firs is in FS2002, the second is in FS 2004. Same runway, same plane (B737).Note the good lighting increase in FS9. Now, can you see the difference in the runway lights? In FS2002 are clear and nitid dots (lights), in FS9 the dots (lights) are bige…

why is the real weather always so late? Are they ever going to fix this? Activesky is always accurate but i don't like when the weather suddenly pops up out of nowhere. Is there any way i could keep the transitions to mild while using activesky?

Hi,I have had it, this last few days I have been nauseated by the amount of post's predicting that simming will die because some people are now seeking rembursment for the HARD work they put into making add-ons.It seems that people think that everything should be free because it is a hobby, ##### are you all on about, to all these people, you are a bunch of freeloaders, you can't stand to think of actually having to pay for something, I appreciate the hard work that goes into some of these creations, and these people should be rewarded for there contrubitions to the hobby.I am sad because this will be the last day I will frequent these forums, I have had it will the whole…

Excuse me, folks, but I found a thread earlier that I now cannot re-locate by somebody here who used leaked nVidia 45.20 drivers. I downloaded them from 3D Guru and my question is, since they are not official, are they self-installing like nVidia ones or do you need to put them all in manually? At present, I am using the 30.82 drivers that I reverted to from 41.07 because the 41.07 didn't work at all well. I've also got DirectX9.0b installed and that's improved things further.Appreciate posts, thanks!JS

I would appreciate some help from someone wiser than me.I installed FS2004 on my Gateway pentium 2.26 with 768 ram, and NVidia GeForce 5200 Ultra Video Crad with the latest drivers.I can see every panel with every aircraft within FS2004 except the Boeing 777-300?I have downloaded a TCA 777_300ER with a new panel and installed it separately in its own folder and when I bring up that aircraft, still can't see the panel?Ive selected a new view and used cockpit, and its identical to the main one, looking out with no panel.Where the panel should be occupying half the window, all I have is a black band?I can use any other aircraft in FS2004 and see the panels and fly except tha…

Hello,Yes, I paid 280.00 for FS2004........And I live in the United States... Here's why...Upon purchasing FS2004 at Best Buy for 55.00, I had difficulity tweaking it because I only had a GeForce 2 MX. So, because I have been an avid simmer for 10 years, I wanted this to work. So I went out and paid 225.00 for a GeForce 5600 Ultra.WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! WOW I am in awe!!!! Framerates are great, the water is great, no more stutters....etc....etc...I could go on and on....Neeedless to say, I am one happy simmer now, after paying $280.00 for FS2004!!Paul

I noticed the virtual cockpits of the default planes have animated droplets. However, these dod not seem to appear in addon aircraft with VC's. Is ther any way to add this effect eaisly, or does it have to be built in to the aircraft?Rob

This is hard to explain but I didn't notice it in FS2002.When I am up in the air and moving, I see a bunch of lines moving on the buildings and such. I tried to increase the resoultion and this helped get rid of alot of it but it looks weird. It looks like this only happens in 2D items such as buildings and trees.I have tried every possible configuration to eleviate this. Can anyone enlighten me as to what is causing this?Turnip

Hi Everyone: As I anxiously await the arrival of my copy of 2K4 from the Avsim store, tomorrow or the next day, a question came to mind. I don't know if any of you have had the time yet to experience this, but in 2k2 while flying IFR and descending to an arrival airport, almost invariably ATC would bring me to low altitudes far too soon. This would occur while descending according to the planes descent rate specs, if I could had them, or even if I reduced the rate of descent from the default. Have any of you experienced this behavior in 2k2 and is it fixed in 2k4?Thanks,JEH

Since the current Wideview developed by Luciano Napolitano will not function with FS2004, a 'show-stopper' situation has arisen for loyal Wideview fans with many folks remaining with FS2002 until a new Wideview version can be developed. The following Wideview forum provides more information:http://www.flightsim.no/cockpit/forum/view...e7829012399b6f3The other alternative is the multi-monitor setup. My question is: If one uses a card like the Matrox Parhelia, is it possible to use a three-monitor setup with primary set to straight-ahead cocpit and the other two monitor set to Left-Front and Right-Front views ? Or, would it be just a single widescreen view stretched over th…

Greetings.I'm not able to activate the great looking water reflection effect in FS2004. I have tried all settings, and I am aware that this effect has changed over FS2002. I do believe that my graphics card supports it.I was wondering if anyone else is having problems with the effect? It is supposed to look like the picture posted a bit down in this thread: http://www.flightsim.no/forum/showflat.php...b=5&o=7&fpart=1My specs: MSI GeForce4 TI4800 SE (128MB DDR AGP)Asus P4PEP4 2.53GHz2x512MB DDR-RAMIf anyone with this graphics card can enable water reflection please let me know. I'm not able to find very much info on this card.Thanks.Regards,Bj

Here's a link to ATI's driver feedback form. I'd encourage everyone who is having trouble with their Radeons (flashing, smeared text, etc.) to fill out this form.http://apps.ati.com/driverfeedback/If enough people report the problems, it might get a faster reaction from ATI.
