On my system I found a Kensington file kmw_dll.dll, which is located in the windows/system32 directory, that was dramatically affecting the framerates in FS9. When I renamed the file the fps went from the 8-10 range up to the 20's on the ground at KSEA and much higher in the air. This file also prevented me from installing the PMDG 737 patch.I just renamed it to oldkmw_dll.dll and everything then worked fine. The mouseworks no longer loads but the mouse works as a standard 3 button mouse.I will be talking to MS about this today as according to Kensington, MS has approved this file.I don't know if this is a system problem or not. My system is a Intel D865PERL mobo, P4 …

I installed FS2004 and I really like it. It's the first time I am willing to switch to the new FS version so quickly.I'm thinking of buying one airplane/panel package for FS2004. Rigt now the only options I see are the PMDG 737 or wait for the PSS A330/340. I know they fly different types of "legs".PSS 767 made me switch to FS2000, the PIC767 2k2patchmade me switch to FS2k2 but know I think I'll need a replacement. So if there are PMDG 737 users out there please let me know what you think of the product, should I wait for it to "grow" or wait to compare with PSS A330/340?I just want a costumer's opinion, I don't want to start a nasty fight between those for and those again…

With TTools for FS2002 I had a "traffic.txt" file that listed the titles of all 30-some default traffic planes. (I used this to substitute my own AI planes.) I understand there are now 50-some default traffic planes in FS2004. Is a TTools for FS2004 available yet? All I really want is the new "traffic.txt" list. John

Hello Gang!I was able to copy the couple of runway light statements into my fs9.cfg to control my runway lighting and such, but I would like to be able to control the centerline taxiway lights, as well as the approach strobe lights. Any idea what the command line or setting would be?Thanks in advance!Sincerely,Dennis D. Mullert

Anyone had the following problem...?FS 9 in fullscreen mode: no problem. Go to windowed mode and click the desktop (or anywhere else, it's just to get FS to lose the focus). Go back to FS and try to get fullscreen again: FS hangs... sometimes indefinately, sometimes I get the MS error message asking me to send debug info.Doesn't allways happen... maybe 60% of the time. Aircraft loaded appears to be irrelevant. If anyone knows a solution you'd make my day...!Chris KirkDell Dimension 8200 2Ghz, 512Mb, Loads of disk space, nVidia GeForce3 Ti500 64Mb (Detonator 44 03, DirectX 9a), SB Audigy, WinXP Home.

So you came home from the Cessna Pilot Center and tried to practice your manuevers in FS2004 only to find that the procedures the instructor taught you don't quite work?Side Slips difficult because of 'excessive' Rudder?Climb out from an airport at 8000 AGL with correct mixture on a hot day produces near stall speeds at 750 fpm?Engine RPM settings in the pattern produce speeds too low due to too much flap drag?Near impossible to fly precision approaches because of unstable pitch?Downward Pressure in anticipation of the ballooning effect when flaps are applied results in a dive or wild pitch oscillations?I spent two days tweaking the performance in the aircrat.cfg file to …

Well, like many, I waited impatiently for the call from EBGames that my "tin-box" had arrived and hurried home and installed..I'd spent the week before the install deleting old stuff on my g-drive which contains my flightsim programs, I'd downloaded and installed DirectX 9b, got a copy of the no-cd program, defragged the drive, and read the forums on a daily basis for any hints..First impressions: WOW.. this looks really nice and the framerates are still fine (breathe a sigh of relief). Second impression: the menus don't work properly.. I'm getting black screens etc..Check the forums.. yes, others have this too, video driver issue most likely.. OK, so I learn to start …

What does is mean when ATC says: "Cleared for approach 28L, sidestep 28R" or some such. It happens particularly on dual runways when you've been cleared for a VRF approach to one of two parallel runways and you request the other runway??Randy Jura, KPDX

Hello Fellow simmers,I just finished a flight from Anchorage to Kodiak in the Default 737 ( in Avsim.com colors) and I have to tell you that I am really happy with the ATC in the new Sim. I was planning on shooting the ILS Runway 25 approach arcing around the Kodiak VOR at 10 dme from the inbound 335 degree radial from Anchorage which is the standard real world approach most of the time. Intially ATC told me to expect the ILS rwy 25 approach via vectors. Well, in the real world that is not possible due to non radar coverage below 6000 ft here in remote alaska, so I paged thru the ATC menu and found all the ILS rwy 25 approach available upon request. YEA BABY, that is EXAC…

After checking everything on the "read me first", I change the numbers on the "texture bandwidth" to 400 and even more; but the reddish squares( on the ground) and white squares( on the water) are still there. These squares were a problem on FS2002 too, when I upgraded from a Geforce 3 to a Geforce 4 4600ti; but the performance was much better that I decided to wait for FS2004. So I believe the problem is the 4600ti. These squares mostly happen when changing views on 2d cockpit mode. I don't know if more ram would help me(I already have 640 RDRAM), new processor or some new drivers on my video card( I hope that i Don't need a new one) Any suggestions or tweaking are rea…

Hi guys and girls. I've been playing combat simulators since the C-64 and have tried MS FS 98, 2002 and 2004 (borrowed from a friend). But this time I'm going to take the big step and buy my own copy. But looking through this wonderfull site makes me a little confused about all the utillities, tools and add-ons. Like FSUIPC, Repaints, Gauges, S-Combo, Active Sky etc... the list go one.So would some of you give a MS FS 2004 noob some guidelines to what is needed and what is nice to have please.CheersMark

HiFirstly, I don't think FS2004 needs it's clouds updating just yet lol, but i'm thinking back on how MS created these clouds. For those of you who d/l a video from MS, showing how they made the clouds using the 3DMAX program (a professional version of gmax), it's got me thinking, will MS allow the 3rd party to create their own clouds in programs such as Gmax? The weather system is much more different in FS2004, and people like Chris, of FSW might have to learn a different technique if they wish to continue making new clouds with FS2004 gmax.Being a gmax designer myself, it would be interesting if this actually happens. Will

Hi,3 days ago, I got the first version of FSMeteo (6.0), and it crashed after a few seconds downloading (on FS 2002 : I still eagerly wait for FS2004 here in France). I e-mailed Marc Philibert, giving him as much information as possible, and...This morning, I got a 6.01 version ; before going to work, I quickly checked the METAR and winds aloft downloading, and it was OK !I will verify more deeply all the functions this evening, but I wanted to point out the excellent support of Marc (besides the excellence of FSMeteo). I recently saw some negative comments about him, but we must be aware that he has now to manage : the transmission of his software to all customers by e-…

I bought the 727 (dowload version) last Feb and love it. I would like to put it into my new FS2004. Same for the L-39 and Konotop AFB. Get no response from Captain Sim despite repeated e-mails.

I'm looking for a new picture editing program to edit textures, 'cause MSpaint just isn't cutting it. I've heard good things about Paint Shop Pro, but when I went to CompUSA yesterday, it was $100! That's a little out of my budget. Does anyone know of a good paint program for under, say, fifty bucks? The features that I would like are lighting effects (for creating night textures) and the ability to easily cut out complex shapes. Thanks in advance!

....and I thought that "FSFSCONV" died with FS2000 and FS98. Actually they look useful, but when I tried to use one of the heavy.3 folders for the FFX DC10, I couldnt get it to read the main panel bitmaps. Tried copying and combining with the current full heavy and 737 panels, just couldnt make it work!! Any ideas!!!??Randy Jura, KPDX

is there any way to alter the cfg file or whatever file it is that controls the weather for FS9 as I when i use real weather I am getting a lot of turbulence which i findf more annoying than realistic (which it certainly isn't the way HS has modeled it!) if there is a way to get rid of the turbulence feature altogther i would appreciate knowing what i need to do.

SBRelay is a new program to enable FS2004 with SquawkBox 2 (SB) and the various networks it supports (VATSIM, IVAO, etc.). It does this by creating an FS2002 session and an FS2004 session internally, and then translating and forwarding all SB players from the FS2002 session to the FS2004 session. By connecting both SB and FS2004 to SBRelay, you can fly in FS2004 and be connected to the network, just as you did with FS2002. SBRelay is a multi-threaded C++ Windows application built for high performance, and uses very little CPU or system resources.Download from the SBRelay web site:http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/sbrelayEnjoy!Russell

Hi guys, today while I was flying from KORD to CYWG using real weather (no add-on), I noticed that the winds aloft were changing drastically, I was leveled at FL300 and one second the winds were 125/49 then suddenly 253/79 then 035/41 and so on, until a point I crashed due to structural damage. This happened flying over Minneapolis at 2400Z.Does anyone have experienced this? Carlos.
