hi everyone,i noticed the other day that some of the 2004 folders have AOL icons in them. the following are a couple of examples....1. in the main FS9 folder is a folder called FSweb (this folder does not exist in fs2k2) this folder contains 6 folders-fs_live, historical, etc... the rest are AOL HTML documents with AOL icons(according to the info. supplied when right-clicking on them & selecting properties).2.(this applies to the other A/C folders as well)the 737-400 folder is used here as an example. there is two files or documents - one titled boeing 737-400_check & the other is boeing 737-400_...both have the AOL icons & according to the right-clicking i…

I think Ian needs to learn to fly radio control for a while. This might help with the feeling of twitchniness & over control in pitch..I've flown both R/C as well as the real ones, and our home controls are somewhere between the very small sticks of an R/C transmitter, and the full size stick/yoke.From reading Ian's review, and knowing the limitations of our P/C controls, some R/C "little stick" sensitivity practice wouldn't hurt! :) FWIW --- I don't think I've met a "real" pilot who didn't over control an R/C plane the first time. I see poles with what appear to be lines that run from the top of the pole down to the ground at maybe a 60 degree angle. I was wondering if anyone has seen these lines actually connect the poles. Just wondering if I have a bug or not.Overall I am utterly amazed at the new sim(except for the water), and have to use all of my will power to not run out a plunk down $1800 on a new computer to get the FPS I crave.I saw a Ford tri-motor parked at KGCN near the Grand Canyon, but I didn't have the patience to hang out and watch it fly. Is there anyway to get AA working with FS and not get a 4FPS while using 3d-clouds.I have a very good frame rate if I turn it off well it's lower in clouds but still good however not 4FPS as I get when AA is enabled?? It's normally 20 and above may drop to 12 inclouds maybe even 6FPS if they really hard, but normal clouds kill my putter if only AA is enabledorAny video cards that can support 4xAA and still one can play FS2004 with 10FPS at least?My sys info belowThanks

can any one tell me why I cannot get the VC forthe NAMC YS-11 from AFG to show up in FS9. i have all the latest model updates, panels, etc but still no VC. tried posting this same question on their website but got no responses at all. hjope to get more help here.

Hey everyone,Having recieved my copy of COF on Tuesday, I am truly impressed so far. However, there is at least one annoying bug currently plaguing me. First off, my rig is an AMD XP1900+ (1.6 GHz), 768 MB of PC2100 DDRRam, and a Geforce 4 Ti4400 128 MB AGP. My problem is that exiting the Sim in Fullscreen mode reboots the system. I have to switch to windowed mode to get around this. I beleive its related to the string of NVidia driver bugs everyone has been reporting. I'm running the 41.09 drivers right now. I tried several of the newer drivers, including the beta 44.67s from Guru3D, but all of these result in a black screen except for the aircraft preview window …

Wow, I am so relieved, am I ever, man....!The newer nVidia drivers I'd been using were useless for FS2004. I installed DirectX 9.0 from the 4 CD-ROMs and things were shaky and crashing. Thank heavens for the older 30.82 drivers. I am saved, yes !Not yet perfect but miles better than the 41.07 drivers I'd been using in FS2002. Now got back stable scenery, stable Windows XP, stable sim, accessible dropdown menus, very good colors and textures with sliders set mostly to the right. When I installed FS9, I remember a message that poped up at the very last saying something to the effect that there would be a problem with 2D objects until you downloaded a new version of something. Was it a new version of direct X?I can't remember what it said. It said that it would be available on August 1st I think.Turnip

Hello fellow flightsimmers,Since us die-hard PIC 767 fans will have to wait for the PIC TEAM to release version 2 of the best panel available for FS2000/2002, I would like to know what is the BEST panel/aircraft combo currently for FS2004?I have switched completely to FS2004 and I'm desperately looking for something that will fill in for the void left by not being able to use PIC 767 with FS2004.My interest is a medium jetliner such as the 757/767. Thanks for any help.

2002 has run fine for me on an Athlon 1800 with TI4600 card and 30.82 drivers. I'm about to buy 2004 and upgrade to a Pentium 4 2.8, but keep the card. Question: any good reason why I shouldn't keep the same drivers? If so, what would I gain by changing, and which driver would folk recommend? So many posters seem obsessed with hunting down the latest and hottest,and so many seem to run into trouble, that I don't want to go down that road. But if a change really would be worthwhile, advice would be much appreciated.

Here's the story so far...I've run FS2002 adequately for 2 years on an AMD athlon 1.4ghz system with a G2pro 64mb card & 512 Mb DDR PC2100 RAM. OS is Win2000 Pro. Fps is around 10-25 depending on addons, with moderate complexity settings. I decided to give the machine a mid-life upgrade in preparation for FS2004.With limited budget, I opted to replace the vid card & add some RAM (the RAM was probably unnecessary, yes, but figured it wouldnt hurt) so purchased a 256Mb Asus Geforce FX5600TD card & 2x 512Mb DDR PC333 RAM chips. I just installed FS2004 fine on my DELL P4 (Ti4600 card, nVidia 41.09 drivers) and the sim works -- well, kind of. I think that the installation of the default DirectX9.0 that came with FS2004 has unsettled something, because I fail the DirectX DirectDraw tests and in the sim, I get all kinds of minor weird quirks such as incomplete menu bars, black bits of screen while trying to access the dropdown menus, etc. Starting the sim is wild too, because it calls for CD-ROM Disk 4 and then hiccups into the start screen.The sim itself does work and I've managed to set the DISPLAY parameters too. I just flew around SeaTac in the Cessna with everything almost maxed to the right…

just installed FS2004 and appear to have a problem with player plane and AI planes.After FS has been going for about five minutes and I change views from cockpit to spot, some of the AI planes have lost their paint job and appear without a livery. HelloI am bound and determined to master the DC-3 in Flight Sim 2004 (COF/FS9) and went through about 7 or 8 perfectly good DC-3's last night.The main problem is that I do not have rudder pedals. Well, actually I do, but they are not USB and therefore won't work on my new computer. (I already contacted the computer mfg about that fact. They said, "Sorry.")Anyhow, ground steering is extremly difficutl using the differential braking (F11 and F12) with throttle and joystick. I also had to buy a new USB. Lets help the MS FS Team and other simmer pilots by listing via replys to this thread any known scenery obstructions found in CoF.**Please only list scenery obstructions and nothing else. Hopefully Avsim will pin this thread for a bit and this way MS could get a good list of scenery obstructions that could be patched or fixed for the next version. Once agian just list Airport code, location and scenery.KMSN, Taxiway Bravo, ant tower.

I wonder if investing in increase the amount of installed RAMunder Windows XP will bring the expected improvement in frame rate.In my case, I've installed 512 MB RDRAM PC1066, upgrading to 1 GB isnot a cheap movement, therefore anyone here who can make me believe in this decision, kindly share with me your experience.Thanks.Adam
