I have read hours and hours worth of great info for a new system but I am still really confused. Some people have mid range systems and have no problems ruuning FS9.I am going to purchase a new system after reading the replies to this post.I guess you could say this will be my decision maker. If I keep putting it off I will never get a new PC.I need some suggestions for a system in the mid to high range as well as the ever debateable issue of video cards. I know it would be cheaper to build my own but I don't know anything about building one. From your replies I am going to add up what the most suggestions are.IE: NVIDIA/RADEON/ P4 2.4/2.8/3.0/ ETC>>>>Thanks f…

Hi,anyone know how to make the splash scren bigger in FS9, or is it imposible and restricted by FS itself,I don't have any paint shop pro or things like that, I just d/load the pic I like from airliners.net and re-name it to dlgsplash.bmp after saving it as a bmp file, but FS makes it smaller!thanksSteve

I have re-discovered the Cheyenne 400LS from FSD International. Hats off to Steve Small and company for upgrading the Cheyenne to FS9 quality. This twin has always been one of my favorites and now it's back in GMAX form for FS9. If you haven't flown this one yet you're in for a treat. The upgrade is free for previous owners. The Cheyenne and Cessna Centurion II from Carenado are my favorites. I tend to fly the smaller GA aircraft because they give me time to practice my instruments. My hangar will be complete when the Meridian is finally upgraded for FS9.Regards,Ken

I have noticed 3 variations so far with the sky. One with a pale blue sky and grey haze at the horizon, which seemed to be like today flying. The others are light blue sky and white haze. The third which I seem to like the best is darker blue sky and lighter blue horizon. Does anyone know how this is randomized or setup?I also noticed during evening shots with the sun going down, sometimes there is a yellowish tinge to buildings and the aircraft and sometimes not. Instead it looks like a white or even gray look, hard to explain without screenshot. I was just wondering what causes the changes.

I remember seeing a three-minute video, downloaded from the MSFS2004 official site, where an enthusiastic and professional voice enchanted me with the wonders of an amazing 3D engine supposed to draw clouds and have them change according to winds and general atmosphere conditions. The video showed clouds moving gracefully, with small puffs eventually dissolving from their tops. I haven't checked if that video is still there, but all I see is in MY FS9 is garbles of textures desperately trying to face my plane as I fly, in a rather unpleasant circular ticking motion, like the seconds-hand of an old post-office clock. A very unrealistic looking behaviour, as far as clouds g…

Hi,after putting the last fsmeteo.exe I received from [email protected] into the fsmeteo folder the start button is permanently disabled. If I copy back the previous version of fsmeteo.exe it's working again. I'm using fsuipc.dll v3.07.Any ideas?Tom.

I took a flight today with a friend who takes the cake in experience etc. (translation 25,000 + hours) and is a cfii at the very least of his huge aviation career. On the way back making conversation I asked him about his current students. He mentioned that he had one that was an interesting case. Ready for the checkride long ago-but unfortunately didn't meet the faa requirements for time yet.I said what the hay?-and he said the guy is an avid fs flight simmer. He said he is at a loss about what to do-the guy was long ago ready for his checkride-but he has to kill time to meet the faa time requirements. Then he went on a tirade of how the fs sim is one of the best training…

I just fired up FS2002 after waaaay too much time trying to get FS9 to run acceptably on my system and did a short hop at night in the PIC767. I have FSW's night lighting installed and realized how realistic this set is. It really does look true-to-life, and is much better/realistic than FS9 default night lighting. Chris, any plans on doing a set like this for FS9? Thnx!

Interesting observations with this slider.... In FS2002, I always kept it at 100 pct. Lowering it didn't improve already decent fps (I make some profound slider adjustments to keep fps fluid), and it had a markedly poorer influence on Terrain/mesh visuals. In FS2004, I find that lowering the mesh slider from 100 to 50 does improve fps to the tune of about 15 pct, and that the visuals hardly look poorer.I have a very low end system, but this tweak along with one other have nearly matched my performance in FS2002--even though airport detail is greater. The one other tweak is panel related--anytime I have a "two tier" panel loaded (such as one with a center post for the co…

Hi Guys,Has anyone found a way to tame the speed that the King Air taxi's along? With the throttle all the way back, I have to continually apply the brakes - and put the parking brake on or it moves.Oh by the way, if FSUIPC is the answer, don't bother. I can't make head nor tail of the throttle adjustment explanation. I did try it, accepting the 'default' setting. That ended up placing an entry at the very end of the 'FSUIPC.ini' file: "Throttle=-16380,16380" (which I'm not sure was there before). In any case, I changed the -16380 number to -20000 in desperation. That seems to have helped all the other aircraft, but hasn't done a thing for the King Air.So, any thoughts wo…

Noticed a very strange problem with this new version of FS --- On certain runway (like WSSS), the takeoff roll feels like a boat riding on waves, rippling up and down gently all the way till takeoff. Other airports seem okay though. Aircraft used --- Dreamfleet 2004 Piper Archer and default Cessna 172.Anyone else encounter this? Any possible work-around?skyward

Hi,Recently tried flying in real weather and found some inconsistency :-1) When I select real weather with 15 min update, I noticed all weather stations at my home country reported somewhat correct weather except for one -- WSSL. A nearby airport (WSSS - Changi Airport) which is less than 10 nm away reported close to the real weather (which was then overcast) that I observed out of the window towards WSSS. WSSL, however, report clear weather with zero wind and perfect visibility, when definitely it wasn't. This caused problem of flying from overcast with 10 mile visibility from WSSS to perfect weather at WSSL just shortly after takeoff. Also, on other days when the weather…

I find it very strange that there has been no review of the Caranado Cessna Centurion on Avsim. Have I missed something or can someone from avsim let me know if there will be a review in the future of this fine aircraft?

It has been 2 weeks since I get following message when starting FS9, and I Quote :"Error loading GPS-engine. The flight plan will not be used", then it stays there til I click Yes in the message and the loading continues. This is a nuisance aside from the fact that my FP does not load into the GPS.I would appreciate it very much if you could help me on this, by giving suggestion, hints, tips.Edmundo Cardenas (SVMI)

Can someone please send me the file for Italian Scenery Design's (ISD) Milan Malpensa scenery? Ive been trying for weeks to download this scenery, but all I get when I click on the link to download is "The requested URL was not found on this server"The ISD forum say the web site is under construction but it's been like that for awhile now. I tried compressing FS2004, the whole FS2004 folder, so the whole flight sim is now Compressed down to 2.86 Gbytes. What I have found is the works wonders for FS2004. This is what I have noticed big time:1. Faster loading of FS2004, as well as senery files etc2. Less disk access3. steader Framerates which makes FS2004 a hell of a lot smoother4. When the senery becomes clear, the clarity is a lot better, and is much sharper further out. I found for a moment I do get the blurs, then it becomes clear after a split second or so, but clears itself up a lot faster, and is sharper at a much further distant once it become clear.Compressing FS2004 is well worth it and I think the…

Sorry for asking a dumb question folks but,How do you shut down your Lear engines at parking? After having upgraded this default Lear I'm dissapointed that MS didn't add a fuel cut-off switch.Or did I miss something?

Hi all, Is there an easy to use traffic editing tool? Not like traffic tools. Thats a little too hard for someone new to flight simming.I mean something that you don't have to set up a flight plan. Justgo from airport A to airport B. This would be great for sightseeing aircraft out for a Sunday flight.ThanksJim
