Is there any way that I can assign a function key, in my case F11, to a joystick button? I use F11 to bring up FSNavigator and it would be nice to do this using the joystick rather than having to reach for the keyboard. I've tried everything I know with no success.Thanks for any info.David

A little while back there was a tip on compressing the FS9 folder. Please forgive for forgetting who posted the tip, BUT THANK YOU NONETHELESS!!!I don't understand why this would work, all sense would tell you the added time needed to uncompress the files would cause a slow down.BUT, last night I completed the folder compression (FS9 folder only, NTFS required), completed a complete partition defragmentation, then went flying. I was STUNNED to see how fast the sim loaded, how very smooth the flying was, even with ALOT of clouds, and my machine aint no super computer at that. I'm having a problem with my monitor.. Optiquest Q95 19 inch... it kind of explodes outward (by that I mean if I am in flightsim for example, the cockpit gauges will steadily grow in size and explode out towards me) then it turns black. If I give it a good smack on the side of the monitor, it returns back to normal!Anyone know what is causing this, and if its repairable? Probably worth just getting a new monitor??Chris

So this bug relates on turning in ground with the plane: When I install FS it turns on the ground ok, but after I land with some boeing (like 757) and slow down in the end of the runway, then try to turn to a taxiway, it doesnt turn. (When the plane goes fast enough on the ground, something like 50 kts, it turns but it turns the style it should turn on the air and so the other wing touches the ground.. Not very realistic.) Then with a little plane, like Cessna, I dont experience turning problems after I have landed but it doesnt turn anymore either, if I have landed with a bigger plane before. Like many people, I only have time to fly when I get home from work. It's usually after 8:00 PM local time. I like to fly with real world weather because it's highly randomized, but I don't like to fly at night because going into GA fields the way I do is very difficult at night. So, I set the time of day to, say 10:00 or 11:00 AM.So here's the problem. I'm flying in daylight but the weather is changing as though the sun had set. That is, the temperature drops, fog rolls in, etc. This makes it less than realistic. I almost wish there was some way to cache the previous 24 hours of weather. I tried to fly a Cessna 172SP from Norfolk,VA (KORF) to Richmond, VA (KRIC) this morning with real weather. No luck, the high wind gusts kept flipping my aircraft over on the taxiway. Looks like I am grounded for a while.

Having flown mostly the big planes since getting FS9, I have the urge to get back into flying GA aircraft into and out of small uncontrolled airports. Since I've lost my previous fav field with FS2002 (Emma field doesn't work on FS9 I hear) I am looking for recommendations on what areas people find enjoyable for bush/short/soft/uncontrolled type airfields and just general challenging or enjoyable areas to fly smaller GA type aircraft?I'd love to check out new areas of the world as I mostly have been sticking to my native Pacific Northwest area so far.Thanks!

Does anybody know of an airline flight adventure addon similar to what sublogic ATP and Nomisofts AS2 has? For those who dont know of ATP and AS2 it has different preprogramed career flight assignments flying from major aiports with full radar vectoring and radio navigation to your destination airport. If you know of any sites or programs that have something similar for FS2004 I would greatly appreciate it.ThanksGaz

A lot of discussion has gone on regarding how real FS9 is and comparing the game to real aircraft. Still having problems with my new ATI 9800. The frame rates are fine, averaging close to 20 even in high traffic/density areas but the card seems to "bog down" when I switch from 2D cockpit to spot view. The terrain and sometimes the aircraft texture dosn't fill right away, and sometimes dosn't at all. Hi all!Today I saw an Nvidia Creative Blaster FX5200 64 MB going cheap (about $70) and I was seriously thinking of buying it. I'm still running FS2002 on a 1200 Mhz system with an ATI Rage Fury Pro/Xpert 2000 Pro 32MB and with dense scenery and I get under 10 FPS (which I consider bad performance while anything above 15 is good). Is it worth the buy? Will it seriously get me better frame rates, and also, will it keep going for at least a year?Thanks in advance!cya!Matti
